00:05The Prime Minister announced Wednesday aligning with a growing international push

00:09to support Palestinian statehood amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

00:13Kanye said Canada's move would take place at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

00:20For the reasons I cited earlier, Canada intends to recognize the state of Palestine

00:24at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.

00:32This intention is predicated on the Palestinian Authority's commitment to much-needed reforms,

00:37including commitments by the Palestinian Authority's President Abbas

00:41to fundamentally reform its governance, to hold general elections in 2026,

00:46in which Hamas can play no part, and to demilitarize the Palestinian state.

00:52Canada will increase its efforts in supporting strong democratic governance in Palestine

00:58and the contributions of its people to a more peaceful and hopeful future.
