00:00Sean D.D. Combs is asking a federal judge to release him on a $50 million bond while
00:06he awaits for sentencing on October 3. The 55-year-old rapper was found not guilty earlier
00:12this month on major charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. However, he was
00:18convicted on two less accounts related to transportation to engage in prostitution,
00:23which carry a maximum 10 years of jail sentence. Combs' attorneys filed a motion on Tuesday,
00:30stating that his case involves exceptional circumstances. They also argued that the
00:36Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Combs has been held since his 2023 arrest, is
00:43unsafe. His lawyer, Mark Agnifilo, wrote in statement, Sean Combs should not be in jail for
00:48this conduct. In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any
00:54sort of John. The legal team also claimed that Combs was unfairly prosecuted due to his swinger's
01:01lifestyle and insisted that others who face similar charges are usually released before sentencing.
01:08After his acquittal on July 2, Combs' team immediately asked for bond but Judge Arun Subramanyam denied it,
01:15citing concerns about violence. The judge noted the defense admitted to violent incidents involving
01:21Combs and said it was impossible to confirm that he posed no danger. The rapper lawyers responded by
01:29saying he hasn't been violent since 2018, apart from one incident in June 2024. They further assured
01:36the court that, if released on conditions, Sean Combs will not be violent to anyone. Meanwhile,
01:42prosecutors have until Thursday to respond.
