00:00Ever since the release of Jaws, sharks have been among the most feared animals on the planet.
00:0950 years on, a team of celebrities are in the Bahamas on a mission to change that perception.
00:18Don't be afraid of seeing a shark, be afraid of an ocean without them.
00:23These people are new, they don't really know what they're doing, and could panic.
00:30Now we're getting up to animals that are double our own size.
00:36That is a big shark.
00:39These animals are critically in danger across the world.
00:44Oh my god!
00:48They need to prove to us that they're responsible enough and safe enough
00:52to do this on their own.
00:54I just hate being underwater.
00:57I remember when I was very young, going underwater, looking up,
01:01and foam mats had been chucked on top of where I was sort of coming up.
01:07I couldn't get out.
01:18There's a storm coming in.
01:20Coming up on the reef!
01:21It's getting quite scary, actually.
01:25It's like a tornado of sharks down here.
01:28Oh, they're coming in fast.
01:29Oh, Christ.
01:30Oh, shit.
01:32Where's Rachel going?
01:34If you can't dive well around a wreck, then you should not be diving with tiger sharks.
01:40We had to make a decision.
01:41We're going to end up doing a night dive.
01:47Stop! Stop!
01:49My mask!
01:50What the hell is that?
01:52Oh, no!
01:53I'm really parking.
01:54I want to come out.
01:55Don't you feel as though, like, the group is getting stronger, and there's a real sort of, like, team feeling at the moment?
02:14Yeah, definitely.
02:15It's amazing how quickly everyone's got to know each other and support each other because some of it is very scary and daunting.
02:21I feel so much more confident than I first did, but it's not a comfortable place for me to be in the water.
02:28And I want to get to the point where I am really relaxed and I can just enjoy the experience because these are things that I will never do again in my life.
02:35And I want to really enjoy them.
02:37Where do you think the root of the fear of water comes from?
02:41My mum was always very cautious with us as kids in the water.
02:45It's something to be scared of, not to enjoy.
02:49And I think you particularly have such a love for the ocean that it makes me want to get there.
02:56It's given me something to work towards because I want to get to the point that you're at.
03:06Cool.
03:09Hey.
03:11Wait, wait, wait, wait.
03:13Oh, we're there, we're there, we're there.
03:15Nice.
03:17We're up.
03:18I love this.
03:20Well, first of all, team, you have all done brilliantly.
03:24What you've experienced, we hope that you take it into your heart and your mind forever,
03:28and that you consider becoming an ambassador for the ocean and everything that lives in it, including sharks.
03:33That's our hope for you.
03:35When you're underwater, it's just this kaleidoscope of loveliness.
03:39And within it, you've got this apex predator.
03:42I came into this ignorant.
03:45Now I see the light.
03:47I see the shark light.
03:50But there is still work to do, everyone.
03:54We are only a few days out from potentially diving with arguably the second baddest shark on the planet, the tiger shark.
04:03To witness these sharks in their natural environment is such a privilege.
04:08But I did 200 dives before I got to dive with tiger sharks, and you guys are being fast tracked.
04:16We think you can do it, but there's a lot more skills to learn.
04:18So next up is going to be a wreck dive.
04:24Oh, wow.
04:26Oh, wow.
04:27A wreck dive.
04:28Very cool.
04:29You're going to have to be swimming through that structure.
04:31You've got to learn buoyancy.
04:32It's going to be another challenge.
04:34How long has the wreck been down there?
04:36A hundred years.
04:38It's going to be a new experience.
04:39It's another level.
04:40It's another skill.
04:42It's going to test you.
04:43And again, it's building that comfortability underwater.
04:46And the more experience you have, the better it's going to be moving towards a more advanced dive, which is with the tiger shark.
04:53What sharks traditionally like shipwrecks?
04:55Well, there's a few species like shipwrecks.
04:57But I've done plenty of wreck dives where I haven't seen big sharks.
05:01But we could have a lovely shark visitor.
05:03We're going to be challenged today.
05:08Wreck dive.
05:09Difficult.
05:10New kit.
05:11Difficult.
05:12Loads of sharks swimming around us.
05:13I think this could be the most challenging thing because it's not just go down and observe.
05:17This is go down and scuba.
05:20Seeing sharks firsthand every single day has unlocked something in my brain.
05:26I don't think I realized I had.
05:28There's like four, five underneath this.
05:31I've been through mental challenges.
05:34It could just be in a really horrible place.
05:37And you'd think hanging out with an apex predator wouldn't be good for your mental health.
05:43But, oh my God, it is.
05:46I feel like I'm going to cry.
05:52We've just got our paddy certificates.
05:55You got your paddy certificates.
05:56I want to know, how are you now suddenly excited about all of this stuff?
06:00Having been petrified because I still have some residual nervousness.
06:05For me, the emphasis is on the shipwreck and the historical parts.
06:09So I'm not really thinking about death by shark.
06:11I'm thinking about, you know, if we might see some, you know, furniture that's been down there for 100 years.
06:17Parking the sharks.
06:18Parking the sharks.
06:19Park the sharks.
06:20I'm thinking about furniture.
06:21Focus on the furniture.
06:22Okay.
06:23A few miles south of Bimini is a diver's paradise.
06:29Welcome, everyone.
06:38This is the SS Sapona.
06:41It was sold to a rum runner back in the early 1920s.
06:44And then in 1926, it run aground during a big hurricane.
06:49And then it kind of developed into this crazy casino.
06:53There are stories of Al Capone coming here and having nights out.
06:56Imagine boogieing out here on night out.
06:59And it's then transformed into this artificial reef.
07:04This dive is essential for us to assess how well you're doing with diving so that you can go diving with the tigers.
07:12You're going to be going through the wreck.
07:16So it's going to be a real test of your buoyancy to see how those skills are sharpening up.
07:21Are we going down a rope?
07:22There is no rope.
07:23There's no rope.
07:24So this is a free swim.
07:25This is the first free swim.
07:26Yes, yes.
07:27So make sure to stick together.
07:30When diving with tiger sharks, they must be in control of their buoyancy so that they can stay still and calm.
07:37Otherwise, the tigers might perceive their behavior as something to investigate.
07:46I'm really excited about this shipwreck dive.
07:50We've built up to this.
07:51We've put ourselves through challenges that do test how we react under pressure, how we react when something goes wrong.
07:59So I'm so glad we got the opportunity to try something completely new.
08:04Proper skill dives.
08:06It's all about our skills.
08:07Well, we're all fucked, aren't we?
08:08To me, this is actually a really important dive for the team.
08:19Experiencing different currents, buoyancy, and testing those skills that will allow them to get to the next level.
08:25For today's dive, everyone is using their full face masks.
08:31Make sure it's level under your chin.
08:33Maintaining a watertight seal around the face is crucial to allow the celebrities to breathe and communicate effectively underwater.
08:41The first to undertake this highly technical dive with Tristan and take them one step closer to diving with tiger sharks are Addy, Ross, Lucy, and Lenny.
08:54Yes, Lenny.
08:55Yes, Lenny.
08:56Yes, my man.
08:57I'm really proud of myself because I just wouldn't have dreamt of doing this wreck dive a month ago.
09:02And to me now, it's technical prowess.
09:04It's making sure that I achieve neutral buoyancy because it will make me feel happier once I'm down there.
09:13All right, there are cars.
09:20As far as I'm concerned, if you can't dive well around a wreck, then you should not be diving with tiger sharks.
09:27Are you good?
09:28OK.
09:32Everyone's looking good.
09:33Heading over to the wreck.
09:34The first team is underwater and they're basically going to enter the ship on the port side where there's lots of wide openings.
09:53Most of the team have only just passed their basic dive training.
09:58One of the biggest technical challenges they face to date is squeezing in between the jagged columns without snagging any of their gear.
10:05I could just make out the wreck in front of me, but it's kind of creepy.
10:14This wreck is in shallow water.
10:15It's less than 25 feet.
10:17So that means that they're going to have a hard time with their buoyancy because it's so easy to just shoot up because you're so shallow.
10:22We're going to turn my buoyancy.
10:25Uh-oh.
10:26I put too much in.
10:27Oh, God.
10:28Come down a little bit.
10:29Get down low.
10:30I need to get down low.
10:31Here we go.
10:32Oh, my goodness.
10:33Lovely job, Lucy.
10:34Really good.
10:35Ross is up next.
10:36Just trying to get the buoyancy.
10:48With all the scuba gear, I like that because it's, you know, it's like flying a jetpack.
10:52You've got your accelerator and the brake for up and down.
10:55Just when you think you've got it, you go, oh, I'm flowing up too much.
11:00Here we go.
11:01It's that scale of trying to get the balance right.
11:08There's a lot going on with all that scuba stuff.
11:11Am I going up too much?
11:14By Jove, I think he's got it.
11:18Lenny's a bit at the surface.
11:21Try and come down.
11:23I'm going through the first door now.
11:26Whoa!
11:28This is a difficult grip.
11:30Great job, Lenny.
11:32Straight through.
11:33That was crazy.
11:35Addy is using his motorised scooter to help him through the shipwreck.
11:41This is pretty technical, controlling the scooter.
11:45It's so odd to be in such shallow water.
11:48This is one of the most technical dives I've ever done.
11:50That's it.
11:51Perfect, Addy.
11:52Well done.
11:53This is the engine room.
11:54Look at the size of it.
11:55Wow.
11:56This is proper adventure stuff, this.
12:09Down here there's a massive rain.
12:12It's just lying there covered in sand.
12:17Wow.
12:20This is everything you could possibly want from a diving experience.
12:24We're in a shipwreck.
12:27Absolutely brilliant.
12:29Shipwrecks like these create an important habitat for a diverse range of marine life.
12:40Oh my goodness!
12:42For me, the usual, they look like zebras.
12:46Oh, wow.
12:47They're beautiful.
12:48The weird thing is, I haven't once thought about sharks.
13:01That's a progress.
13:03Oh my god.
13:16That was just...
13:18What a treat.
13:20Did you like that?
13:22That was awesome.
13:23That was the most technical dive for me.
13:26Yeah, it was properly exciting.
13:28It's not the first house my mum bought in the 50s.
13:31I am a sucker for the fish.
13:34Yeah, the fish were amazing.
13:35Oh god, there's so many fish down there.
13:37I didn't even notice the fish.
13:38I was too busy putting pretend limpet mines on the side.
13:43The buoyancy thing is a thing, isn't it?
13:46Because I'm extremely buoyant, apparently.
13:48I think we've kind of got it, so I was really proud of myself.
13:52Join us.
13:53How was that?
13:54Join us.
13:55How were we?
13:56I think you guys did amazing.
13:57I was like, that was a pretty challenging dive.
13:58And it's building all those skills and confidence.
14:00Okay.
14:01That you need.
14:02Because when you get on a big shark dive, you're not worrying about all the other elements that are around you.
14:07Right.
14:08You can focus on the shark.
14:15Tristan, we're losing light.
14:16I agree.
14:17If they go in now, by the time they get out, it's going to be dark.
14:20So it's almost like they would have done then a transition dive.
14:23Yeah.
14:24I think it's better to just set up for the night dive and just go with that.
14:27Otherwise, we're just going to be in a situation where we're going to be rushing and then you compromise safety.
14:33So hopefully they'll all be good.
14:37Okay, gang.
14:38As we can see, the light is fading.
14:40We've run a bit behind today.
14:41So team two, we had to make a decision.
14:43We're going to end up doing a night dive.
14:48Is anything more likely to bump into us in the night?
14:50The reef fish kind of hunker down at night because they're worried about getting eaten.
14:55What predators might we find around this glorious shipwreck?
14:58Great hammerheads like wrecks, so do bull sharks.
15:03They often use wrecks at night to hunt for stingrays.
15:08We have to be ready for anything.
15:11Our three divers, Dougie, Rachel and Helen, you're all included on this dive.
15:15And we have one more spot from team one.
15:17I've got four water bottles here that belong to Ross, Lenny, Lucy and Addy.
15:22Whatever name comes out, that is who's going diving with us on the night dive.
15:26Rachel, you want to pick it?
15:27Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
15:33Who is it?
15:34Daddy!
15:41Come on!
15:43Okay, so we have our second team.
15:44Are you happy to do it?
15:46This is a big step.
15:47We understand.
15:48It is a big step.
15:49I really want to do the shipwreck, but I don't want to do the night dive.
15:55So I'm really torn.
15:56You'd be mad to miss out on the opportunity.
15:58If you don't like it, you can always just turn around.
16:00Yeah, exactly.
16:01It's fine.
16:05I'm scared.
16:06I am scared.
16:07I'll be honest.
16:08This is creepy as hell.
16:09What the hell is that?
16:13What the hell is that?
16:29At the SS Sapona shipwreck, Dougie, Rachel and Helen are next to attempt this technically challenging dive at night.
16:37We've got to cangle our buoyancy when we can't see anything.
16:40We know that loads of predators get active at night.
16:43Even without the darkness, this was a step up from our skills levels.
16:46I thought I was really cool with it.
16:48Now it's dark and the reality is set in.
16:51Imagine, like, pitch black and then you shine a light on...
16:59Yes, this is intimidating.
17:00It's scary.
17:01It's night.
17:02It's also super cool.
17:04They're really going to have to make sure that they stay calm, they relax, and they pay attention on this dive.
17:11At night, you're going to get a bit more disoriented.
17:13So, all these experiences are going to only benefit them as divers.
17:18Building skills for this big tiger shark dive.
17:21Seconds away.
17:23Looks awesome.
17:24Have a good dive, you guys.
17:27Go, Dougie.
17:28Here we go.
17:32Dougie and Rachel are diving with Danny.
17:36And are the first to enter the water.
17:39This is weird.
17:43Did I wake up this morning thinking that I was going to do a night dive?
17:46Absolutely no way.
17:47Am I slightly petrified?
17:48Yes, I am.
17:50I'm not naturally a brave person, I don't think, but I'm pushing myself to be brave.
17:56Getting quite emotional now.
17:58It's a bit scary, guys.
18:02When we first started, I wouldn't even put my head underwater in the swimming pool.
18:06I hate it.
18:07What's the main thing?
18:09I just hate being underwater.
18:11Okay.
18:13But actually having that up-close experience with the hammerhead sharks was the most magical moment of my life.
18:21This is a moment I will never forget.
18:23So, it would be a real shame to come this far and not attack the next few days with sort of determination and confidence.
18:32I really want to commit to succeeding in this and meeting the tigers.
18:36You got this, H. You got this.
18:37Thanks, babe.
18:38Oh, gosh.
18:39My heart is fluttering, man.
18:41It's beating.
18:42I'm scared.
18:43I am scared.
18:44I'll be honest.
18:45Yeah.
18:46Whoa.
18:47Look at this.
18:48It's so spooky.
18:51So dark.
18:52That was kind of petrifying coming down.
18:53Diving at night can be disorientating.
18:54Even for experienced divers.
18:55Start moving to the wreck.
18:56Okay.
18:57And in the pit.
18:58It's like, it's fluttering, man.
18:59It's fluttering, man.
19:00It's beating.
19:01I'm scared.
19:02I am scared.
19:03I'll be honest.
19:04Yeah.
19:05Whoa.
19:06Look at this.
19:07It's so spooky.
19:11So dark.
19:13That was kind of petrifying coming down.
19:16Diving at night can be disorientating, even for experienced divers.
19:21Start moving to the wreck.
19:23Okay.
19:24And in the pitch black, maintaining position in the water is even more challenging.
19:28Oh, it's hard to get buoyancy down here.
19:30You can't see anything.
19:32Oh, gosh.
19:33What is that?
19:35Is it a shark?
19:36No, it's just some sort of massive fish.
19:42What the hell is that?
19:43Oh, those fish are enormous.
19:46Okay, here we go.
19:47We're getting close to the opening, guys.
19:49Oh, my God.
19:52There's a shipwreck.
19:53Oh, my God.
19:56Entering the wreck through the rusty hole is one of the most dangerous parts of the dive.
20:01There's a bit of a strong current.
20:03So I'm going to fish myself through it.
20:06And I can't see a freaking thing.
20:10Swim in this direction.
20:12This is creepy as hell.
20:21This is a bit scary, actually.
20:23I'm completely out of my depth right now.
20:28I'm going up.
20:29This is the difficult bit.
20:31This is quite disorientating, actually.
20:34Oh, my God.
20:35Oh, my God.
20:36This is the engine room there.
20:37Still no sharks.
20:38Oh, it's not over there.
20:39Oh, my God.
20:40Oh, my God.
20:41This is the best thing I've ever seen.
20:43Oh, my God.
20:44Oh, my God.
20:45This is the best thing I've ever seen.
20:56Oh, my God.
20:57This is a turtle.
20:58Oh, my God.
21:01That is so cool.
21:08What is that?
21:09It's a turtle.
21:12Oh, wow.
21:14She's beautiful.
21:17Wow.
21:22Look at this turtle.
21:23Oh, I'm so glad it came down.
21:27Super cool green turtle.
21:31Normally they wouldn't let you get anywhere near as close to this.
21:35Unbelievable.
21:37This is such a wonderland.
21:41Oh my gosh, there's another one.
21:43Two turtles.
21:45Oh, hello baby.
21:47He's with us.
21:49Oh, fucking hell.
21:53That scared the shit out of me.
21:57Oh, shit.
21:59Fucking hell.
22:01Oh, not cool.
22:05Not cool.
22:07Oh, gosh.
22:11I'm actually quite scared.
22:13Stop, stop.
22:15My mask.
22:17My mask.
22:19My mask filling out with water.
22:21Are you okay?
22:23Oh, God.
22:25I'm really hiking.
22:27Okay, try and stay calm.
22:29I want to come out.
22:31And we'll take you up.
22:33My mask, bloody.
22:35Let's go.
22:41Please take off.
22:43Hey.
22:45You're okay?
22:47I'm so sorry.
22:49It's okay, hey.
22:51Don't be sorry.
22:53You're fine.
22:55Helen's mask flooded.
22:59Incredible that she's gone this far.
23:01I went down there and it was incredible.
23:03There was this amazing sea turtle down there.
23:05So we watched her swim past us and that was incredible.
23:07And then my mask was filling up at the bottom,
23:09but then it started filling up from the top as well as the bottom.
23:11And I could just see the water coming from both sides
23:13and I just had a panic attack and got really frustrated.
23:17I'm really annoyed with myself, but...
23:19I think the water getting in my mask,
23:21and I've been absolutely fine with my mask until this point,
23:23but that just freaked me out.
23:25So, yeah.
23:27Oh!
23:29Oh, my God!
23:31Bloody hell!
23:33Oh, my God!
23:35Oh, my God!
23:37Oh, what the...
23:39We had a turtle as a dog.
23:41Oh, my God!
23:43Oh, my God!
23:45Oh, my God!
23:47Oh, my God!
23:49Oh, what the...
23:51We had a turtle as a dog, guys!
23:53He was following us around the entire time.
23:55I was so blown away by that dive
23:57because we saw so much wildlife.
23:58A nurse shark and a nurse shark.
24:00Oh, my God!
24:01That scared the absolute crap out of me.
24:04It was just coming right at us, wasn't it?
24:06I burned through all of my oxygen in that second.
24:10Okay, maybe I was a little bit cocky before.
24:12That was, yeah, a genuine moment of fear.
24:15That's the moment that's, like, burnt into my head now.
24:18Forever.
24:19Oh, my God!
24:22I've just had the greatest dive of my life.
24:25Oh, my God!
24:27That was incredible.
24:32I can hear everyone's had this amazing, wonderful experience,
24:35and I want them to...
24:37They need to have that moment
24:38because it's been an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
24:42And I've obviously had a very different experience.
24:44So, you know, respecting their joy.
24:50I saw one turtle, and I thought, yeah, this is cool.
24:55And then this next one comes, and there's two turtles.
24:58That was fantastic.
25:00I'm trying to analyse what happened out there.
25:02It was a bit chaotic.
25:03I think that's why I'm so upset,
25:04because I thought I was going to drown.
25:06I'm definitely questioning
25:08whether this was the right thing to do,
25:10whether I should be here.
25:12But then this is the next way.
25:24How did you sleep last night?
25:26How did you sleep last night? You had two big dives.
25:39I was naked.
25:40Yeah, I bet you were.
25:41I was absolutely naked.
25:42Yeah.
25:43Did anyone else notice?
25:44I thought as soon as you got into the shipwreck, it felt warmer.
25:46Did you piss yourself?
25:47No.
25:48That's just weird.
25:49I was scared.
25:50There was moments where I looked and it was just complete darkness.
25:54Right.
25:55It felt quite eerie.
25:56It was really disorientated.
25:57You couldn't see anybody in front of you unless there was a pool of light.
26:01You couldn't tell where you were.
26:03In some ways, I can't wait to get back home and back to normality because there's definitely
26:08been a lot of ups and downs.
26:09Yes, I've worked in TV for years.
26:11I've done big theatre shows in front of thousands of people.
26:15But this is very uncomfortable for me.
26:17Pushing myself mentally to the extreme has been the hardest thing I've ever done.
26:24It's definitely the most confusing dive.
26:27It was hard to know which way was up, which way was down.
26:30I was using the turtles to know which way was up.
26:33A turtle is not the ocean's spirit level.
26:35I had a jump scare and there's a door here to the haunted ship and then out of the doorway
26:46came this nurse shark.
26:48Wow.
26:49How did you respond?
26:50Was it really scary?
26:51I was cool about it.
26:52You wouldn't be able to tell that.
26:54I've definitely got something now to talk about at awkward social gatherings.
27:01Hi, I'm Doug.
27:02This is why I'm with sharks.
27:05Back to being awkward.
27:07Oh, here we are.
27:09Trouble.
27:10Oh, great.
27:11Hello.
27:12Uh-oh.
27:13How are you doing?
27:14Uh-oh.
27:15Good to see you all.
27:16Oh, yeah.
27:17That's when I turn up.
27:18It means it's about to get wild.
27:22Today, we're going to be diving with Caribbean reef sharks.
27:28Caribbean reef sharks can be bitey if you flail around, if you act erratic.
27:34Don't act like food.
27:36They won't treat you like food.
27:38Just try and relax.
27:40A week ago, the celebrities were introduced to these animals from the surface in an initiation
27:46test affectionately called the Line of Terror.
27:49They're everywhere.
27:50Take a moment.
27:51Just deep breathing.
27:53They move and sometimes hunt in groups and can grow up to two and a half metres long.
27:59So a scuba dive is not only more technical and more intimidating, but an essential step
28:05to prepare them for the looming tiger shark dive.
28:10These sharks are going to be all around you.
28:12They are not shy.
28:14Keep your hands by your sides like this so you're not offering anything to them.
28:18And just admire them.
28:19They're pretty, pretty calm as long as you're calm.
28:22These sharks two, three times our size with the ability to get us.
28:27But that said, you can judge a shark's behaviour much more than you can another wild predator
28:34on land.
28:35That's, that's what's clicked for me here.
28:37It's just going to be a really cool dive with these animals.
28:41And hopefully we'll be in the middle of a sharknado.
28:44I have had various levels of fear and trepidation before every single experience we've done.
28:51But being surrounded by Caribbean reef sharks inches from your face is extreme beyond words.
29:02Today's dive with Caribbean reef sharks is just a few miles off the coast and it will be one of the last opportunities
29:11for the celebrities to prove that they have the skills to dive with tiger sharks.
29:16So what do you reckon, mate? How, from your perspective, are the team doing?
29:23Well, yesterday's dives were pretty difficult.
29:26And I felt that there's a few people that really stood out that did great.
29:30Ross, he seems very confident.
29:33Rachel, similar. Buoyancy good. No fear, really.
29:37That might be something we have to watch for.
29:40Lenny struggled with his buoyancy.
29:43And it will be interesting to see how he reacts with a lot of reef shark action.
29:48There's a level of bravery that we need to have when we go down there.
29:51I can't be doing this.
29:52I can't be doing that.
29:55I don't want anybody to think I'm food down there. Even Lucy.
29:58Dougie had a moment with a nurse shark where it kind of spooked him.
30:03I think in some ways it was actually quite good.
30:05And then Lucy yesterday, you know, I caught her, like, just looking underneath stuff
30:12and just being really relaxed. So that was really good to see.
30:17After consulting with the team medic, Addy has decided he's not well enough to attempt today's shark dive challenge.
30:24I really enjoyed the wreck dive, but I'm absolutely exhausted.
30:30Like, physically, I pushed myself to the limit. I've got nothing left in the tank.
30:35Addy, he's going to sit this one out. He's progressed. I don't see any issues with him.
30:40No, he did two dives yesterday.
30:42It's thoroughly impressive.
30:43Yeah. And then Helen. It's tough for her.
30:46I've seen some of the biggest dudes I've had to train go in the water at night
30:51and they pull us to the surface and pull straight off training.
30:54Yeah. So, for Helen to go in on a night dive is pretty big.
30:58Right. Really great that she did it, but, you know, I don't think it was a great experience.
31:03What do you think that means? Do you think we're not going to be able to progress on?
31:07We don't have to make the decision now and hope that she can prove to us that she can do it.
31:13Because, obviously, I'd love to get everyone on it.
31:16By getting in the water with tigers, that's a whole nother level.
31:20It is.
31:24Although the celebrities have dived with larger shark species,
31:28Caribbean reef sharks can be unpredictable and often move and hunt together in groups.
31:37OK, here goes nothing.
31:41Lucy, Ross and Lenny are the first to enter the water.
31:45Oh, shit.
31:47This is wild.
31:51OK, here we go.
31:55When you do stand-up, some people look at the idea of standing in front of loads of people.
32:00They find that idea terrifying.
32:02When I feel that adrenaline, I think of it as excitement.
32:06I just really love doing exciting things and everything we've done so far has been really exciting.
32:12Whoa!
32:16There is literally sharks everywhere.
32:21With this trip, I've been in the water every day.
32:24But sitting with reef sharks swimming towards you and swimming around you, we can't be complacent.
32:30Holy shit.
32:31There's reef sharks swimming above me, which is kind of spectacular.
32:45Today, they're going to be surrounded by sharks that can approach them from any angle.
32:51And we're really going to have to judge them individually.
32:55Can they stay calm with a six, seven-foot Caribbean reef shark swimming directly up to their face?
33:00Probably got about 15 to 20 reef sharks here now.
33:09Proper circling us now.
33:14Wow.
33:16Everywhere you turn, it's just...
33:18It's just sharks.
33:19Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God.
33:24Well, that's a reef shark.
33:26And that's another one.
33:28And that's another one.
33:30And that's another one.
33:32Fucking hell.
33:34I'm Lenny and I'm swimming with sharks.
33:36And right now, I'm crapping myself.
33:41Like the scientists who've been observing these reef sharks for over 20 years,
33:45we've used a bait box to lure the sharks into the vicinity.
33:50Reef sharks always go straight with the fish blood.
33:53It is a glorious, magnificent and frightening sight.
33:58Oh, my God, they're all coming in.
34:00Oh, they're coming in fast.
34:01Oh, Christ.
34:02Oh, shit.
34:04They're like dive-bobbing.
34:06Oh, my God.
34:08Oh, this is like their 3D frenzy.
34:11Oh, my God, this is what I was worried about.
34:13Oh, my God, it's going to touch me. Oh, no.
34:15Lucy has decided to go wrong.
34:18And she's getting closer.
34:21Oh, my God, oh, my God.
34:22And the courage is pushing me closer and closer to the bait box.
34:25I'm literally in a shark suit.
34:28Okay, I've been pushed further back
34:31because I'm getting too close to the bait box.
34:34It's not really murky down here now,
34:36so it means that when the sharks appear,
34:39they just appear out of nowhere.
34:41Oh, oh, God, oh, my God.
34:44That one went really crazy.
34:49It was sort of the worst night there.
34:52They're so close.
34:54And the temptation to touch them is massive.
34:57Oh, my God.
34:59This is going to be Ross Noble's act for years.
35:02We've got Lenny.
35:04Long gone are those buoyancy issues.
35:08He's now just relaxed and enjoying the show.
35:11It's weird to wake up.
35:14You have a bagel, scrambled eggs,
35:16have some bacon.
35:20And then suddenly there's a shark giving you cyanide.
35:23Oh, my God.
35:37I literally can't believe it.
35:40We were literally...
35:42I was looking at you like this,
35:44and there were sharks just swimming around.
35:47There were so many.
35:49I was effing and blinding a lot down there
35:51because I've just never seen anything like that in my life!
35:56One of them did come by me and go,
35:58that's not neutral buoyancy.
36:00Like that.
36:02You need to be, you need to be, you need to adjust.
36:04I thought I was getting dragged towards the...
36:06No, but it looked like you were so fascinated.
36:07I was.
36:09And underwater I said to myself,
36:12why is he doing that?
36:14That's a shark!
36:15I was getting drawn towards the bait box.
36:17How's that, Ross?
36:19I've become one of them.
36:21Oh, no. Did you enjoy that?
36:23Oh, my God, that was amazing.
36:25The best bit was when we were just eye to eye.
36:28Yeah, following us.
36:29And then they just swim up to you and like, swim past you.
36:32I love the fact that we're not on the menu.
36:33Thank you, God!
36:35I think they've been well fed.
36:36We're not on the menu!
36:39It's great that they're having this positive experience.
36:43The whole purpose of why we're here
36:46is to make them fall in love with sharks.
36:48They're not looking at us as food.
36:50They're just going about their business.
36:51We can co-exist.
36:53So, hopefully, we can get a whole new generation of shark lovers on board
36:58to help us spread the conservation message
37:01because sharks around the world are being decimated
37:03in the tens and hundreds of millions.
37:08The visibility is quite poor today.
37:10And I'm worried that I'm going to have, you know, a panic attack in the sea
37:19and in a dark ocean with some killer sharks.
37:21I think after my experience with the night dive yesterday, I'm a little bit worried that if I go back in again and have the same experience that I had yesterday that I won't mentally be able to bring myself back from here.
37:36Of course, we want you to try and do all of these dives, but hopefully we'll be able to get you in again in the next few days.
37:43Yeah, absolutely. And I want to. I want to get back in and I want my next time in the water when we're scuba diving to be a really positive, magical experience.
37:51And I think today's not the day for that.
37:53Right.
37:56With Helen sitting this one out and Adi unwell, the next dive will be just Dougie and Rachel.
38:01I'm actually, uh, a little bit nervous. I think because of the, like, the weather. It's kind of, uh, kind of a bit gloomy, a bit sinister.
38:19Hold your mask.
38:20Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
38:27Go, go, go, go.
38:28Hey, we're coming up on the reef.
38:33High winds have dragged the boat from its mooring and it's now drifting dangerously towards the exposed rocks.
38:40There's a storm coming in. The rain's getting really quite heavy. There's a strong chance we're going to end up on the rocks.
38:48We're coming up on the reef.
38:51Okay, guys, we need some physical health down here.
38:57There's a lot of shouting. It's getting quite scary, actually.
39:03Something bad's happening.
39:07Shit! The boat's gone.
39:11We've been caught. I have more repositioned in the boat.
39:14They've left us here.
39:19Oh, shit!
39:20Oh, shit!
39:33In the middle of the dive with Caribbean reef sharks, high winds have dragged the dive boat into the shallow waters and dangerously close to the rocks.
39:42The ocean, you can't turn your back on it. The tide picks up, the current picks up, waves pick up.
39:48If you've got your anchor on the sandy bottom, it can pull you ashore.
39:50Dougie's under the water. Apparently under the water it's all calm.
39:53But we've been drifting because it's a surge, so we're just repositioning until it's safe to go back in the water.
39:58James, can you hear me, Dougie?
40:02Yeah.
40:04We're just moving the water slightly to reset the anchor.
40:08We're keeping Rachel and Paul on board and we'll be stabilizing the situation.
40:11This is diving, and especially in the Bahamas, these storms run through pretty quickly. Often you'll get a big storm come through, 15 minutes later, flat calm.
40:26Here I am just hanging out right next to the bait box.
40:29The boat is now a safer distance from the rocks, so Rachel and Paul can finally join Dougie in the water.
40:41Oh, there's a shot. One, two, three, four, five, absolutely loads. I can't count that really. I don't know how to count right now.
40:48Here we go.
40:50Ah, shit!
40:52They have got some teeth on them.
40:55That's it, my friend!
40:57I don't know if I like the mosh pit.
41:03Right now you've got some bait going into the water, and that's creating the predator instinct in these sharks.
41:11Oh, bigger mosh pit!
41:14Oh, shit!
41:16It's like a tornado of sharks down here.
41:20Oh, they're chasing! Oh, they're fighting! They're fighting!
41:24They're moving quickly, they're getting a bit fishy.
41:27Oh!
41:30That was close!
41:32I can properly see the little eyeballs moving!
41:35I'm actually very relaxed down here. I'm now swimming towards the sharks. Am I crazy?
41:47Hello shark, nothing to see here!
41:49Where's Rachel going? Oh, she just took off by herself!
41:54This is not what she should be doing on a dive!
41:57Rachel, you're back!
41:59Nothing to see here, there's a shark, a shark below, Adam!
42:03She's left a dive buddy here! She can't be doing this with the tigers!
42:08Hey Dougie! You're back! You scared the crap out of me!
42:10This is mad! It's the most amount of swell I've ever been in!
42:15This is one wild dive! The current is ripping through at the same time!
42:22I'm all over the place! This swell is mad!
42:26Getting a little wild down here! Time for the team to go back to the surface!
42:31Shhh!
42:35Oh!
42:37Oh!
42:39Oh, the rainbow!
42:40Did you have a storm up here?
42:41We had a storm up here.
42:43It was like a thunderstorm?
42:44Yeah.
42:45Are you kidding?
42:46No, it was pretty, it was pretty full on!
42:48It was mad down there!
42:49Was it?
42:50I was on the bottom just being thrown around with sharks!
42:52This place is more and more magical!
42:54That time, down there, they're looking at you in the eye.
42:58Not in an aggressive way, but you're really like eye to eye with them.
43:02Yeah.
43:03You get a different view of them completely.
43:04Underneath.
43:05Yeah.
43:07That was probably the most hectic dive of my life.
43:12But now we've done reefs, I think we're on the right tracks for tigers now for sure.
43:17Well guys, how do you think you went on that dive?
43:20I think overall it was pretty good.
43:21That was the gnarliest, like most adventurous dive for sure.
43:26Surrounded in an actual sharknado.
43:29Yes, yes, yes!
43:30I have to agree with you, you did really great, but scuba diving is an inherently dangerous activity.
43:37Don't let complacency drag you down.
43:40Complacency kills.
43:41Don't get overconfident.
43:42Don't go swimming off without your body like you did.
43:44I'd hate for your overconfidence to be the point that stops you from enjoying and doing safely what's coming up.
43:55Tigers are incredible.
43:57Hopefully we're going to get to take you all on that journey.
44:00All of you.
44:01That's the goal.
44:02Got real FOMO when you guys were down there.
44:04I was like, oh, did I make the wrong decision here?
44:07And then watching you come back up and you're so excited and you've seen so many amazing things.
44:11I feel like I've really, I've missed out on an experience and maybe I needed to feel that to get back in the water.
44:16Some solid motivation right there. Use it.
44:22If today was the day we were doing the tiger shark dive, I think I would be slightly nervous about putting myself in that position.
44:30But I want to be able to get to the point where I can get into the sea with these tiger sharks because I don't want to let myself down.
44:40I think all of us will come away from this having conquered some of our greatest fears.
44:44I mean, who knows? The tiger shark might be the thing that is the making of us all.
44:50But swimming with the tiger shark, it's not to be underestimated that. It's a big move.
44:56No one expects to see a wheelchair user jumping into the ocean with tiger sharks.
45:03They don't expect to see most people jumping into the ocean with tiger sharks, let alone me.
45:07So yeah, it is, it's definitely frightening, but we have to have trust in our team and trust in the process.
45:15I know with the tiger sharks, I should be scared. They have the ability to rip into pieces and I have got kids. So, you know, this is a much more serious decision.
45:24So, I'm not going to do anything ridiculous because with the wrong move, this could be a life or death situation.
45:31Everything else that you've done is child's play compared to what you are about to do.
45:45There's every chance there could be a hundred sharks.
45:51A hundred?
45:54It's getting very real now.
45:56This is the last opportunity for you guys to showcase your skills.
46:01There are just sharks everywhere.
46:03Everywhere.
46:05Lucy, last night you were on the fence. Have you made your decision?
46:09I'm going to do this, but I'm really, really scared.
46:13I'm going to do this.
46:19Behind you, behind you.
46:21No!
