Gunman kills 4, including police officer, in shooting at New York City office tower

A man stalked through a Manhattan office tower firing a rifle Monday, killing four people, including a New York City police officer, and wounding a fifth before taking his own life, officials said.

00:00Our hearts are heavy. Five innocent people shot tonight. We lost four souls to another senseless

00:13act of gun violence, including a member of the New York City Police Department, Officer Islam.

00:22The building's security camera footage shows the shooter enter the lobby, turn right,

00:26and immediately open fire on an NYPD officer. He then shoots a woman who took cover behind a pillar

00:34and proceeds through the lobby, spraying it with gunfire. He makes his way to the elevator bank,

00:41where he shoots a security guard who was taking cover behind the security desk. One additional

00:48male is shot in the lobby per his own statement from the hospital. He goes up to the 33rd floor,

00:55which is rude in management, and begins to walk the floor, firing rounds as he traveled.

01:03One person was struck and killed on that floor. He then proceeds down a hallway and shoots himself

01:09in the chest. The shooter is believed to be Shane Tamora, a 27-year-old male with a Las Vegas address.

01:17The vehicle he exited is registered in Nevada to Mr. Tamora. Inside of that vehicle, officers found a

01:26rifle case with rounds, a loaded revolver, ammunition, and magazines, a backpack, and medication prescribed

01:33to Mr. Tamora. According to our law enforcement partners in Las Vegas, Mr. Tamora has a documented

01:40mental health history. His motives are still under investigation. 345 Park Avenue is a commercial

01:46office building whose tenants include the NFL, Rudin Management, KPMG, and Blackstone.

01:54Four innocent victims are dead. Among them is NYPD police officer D. Darul Islam, 36 years old,

02:03four years on the job. Officer Islam was married with two young boys. His wife is pregnant with their

02:11third child. He died as he lived. A hero.
