Kate Osborne praises England for winning the 2025 Women's Euros

Kate Osborne, Member of Parliament for Jarrow and Gateshead East, has reflected on yet another successful tournament for England's Women.

00:00I'm obviously very apt that we're here after the Lionesses won last night.

00:03Obviously, you were there.

00:04Just talk us through how that was.

00:05Oh, it was just amazing.

00:08And Spain is such a good team.

00:10Of course, they beat us in the World Cup a couple of years ago.

00:13But people would have seen from the matches that took the England game,

00:18sorry, took the Lionesses to the final,

00:20how resilient they are, how they never give up.

00:23I think that's a lesson for all of us.

00:26You know, in previous matches, being 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go.

00:30So the final yesterday, when they went one goal down,

00:34the team weren't deflated, the crowd weren't deflated.

00:37We just got behind them.

00:39They knew that.

00:41You know, the crowd were really loud.

00:43And, yeah, they delivered for us because that's what they do.

00:49They ramp it up.

00:51And we've seen that in pretty much every round.

00:54I mean, I could have done without the extra time and the penalties, I have to say.

00:58I'm not sure my heart can take many more of those.

01:01In one way, I'm pleased it's over.

01:03But absolutely brilliant that we brought it home

01:05because it isn't just about England as a national team.

01:09That feeds in to women and girls in the game,

01:13both playing and watching at all levels,

01:15including somewhere like Hebben.

01:18You know, giving people hope and aspiration and role models.

01:22And sometimes girls and women are really lacking in those role models

01:28because, of course, women are raised in many ways

01:32and written out of history.

01:34So you can't write these lionesses out of history.

01:38They've absolutely delivered in a way that the men haven't.

01:41They've seen .

01:45So if we not understand this,

01:47I think a lot of people think about'.

01:54knowing that, because when you look at all levels

01:54they want to try the 두�seetically

01:56with you and get on the list.

01:57You can actually see a lot of them.

01:58So try them to track value how you play.

02:00They're just about the fall get out of history.

02:01And the time they make out of history,

02:02physical service, spiritual services, and spiritual services,

02:04an inclusive service, financial services,

02:06social services .
