HUMPBACK WHALES STUN WITH RARE BUBBLE-NET FEEDING
WITH VID
By Dev Yadav
Witness a breathtaking natural spectacle as humpback whales put on a rarely seen feeding performance.
Emma Marden, 30, a deck cadet captured the jaw-dropping footage just off the coast of Reykjavik, Iceland.
A pod of humpbacks emerged close to the vessel just 20 to 50 meters away and began executing a coordinated bubble-net feeding, a sophisticated hunting strategy where whales blow bubbles to corral fish into a tight ball before lunging upward with mouths open wide.
Emma shared the crew’s amazement, quoting Safety Officer Efrem Ghirmai: “It doesn’t get any better than this!”
From seasoned sailors to first-time passengers, everyone onboard was left speechless by the once-in-a-lifetime moment.
She adds: "One of the naturalist onboard mentioned it could be a rare moment for humpback whales to bubble net feed in these waters. Which made this moment even more special."
One viewer commented: “This is why you always keep your camera ready at sea.”
Another added: “I’ve seen whales before — but never this close doing that.”
