'A group of tourists got a pleasant surprise during their trip to Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary.

"We came across these two whales while we were out on a whale watch," the filmer, Lotti Keenan said. "We were 'mugged' by Scarlet and her calf, two friendly humpback whales. Scarlet has these big ship strike scars on her body."

Lotti further stated that the playful mother-and-calf duo kept swimming around the boat for over an hour.

This amusing footage was caught on camera on August 8, 2021.
