Transcript
00:00So there's an old picture here that's on display of Lord Mountbatten in Wolverhampton, what's that all about then?
00:04So he was a patron of the Chindid Society who used to regularly hold dinners at the Park Hall Hotel in Wolverhampton.
00:12So there are pictures of him with various Chindids at these dinner and dance events and the wives of these.
00:20And of course obviously there aren't these people around anymore, it's dwindled to nothing.
00:24So they don't have those kind of events anymore.
00:26And I understand, I haven't seen it yet, but we're going to be taking a look, there's the old pub sign that features the, it was the, Ord was it?
00:33So that's Ord Wingate who led the Chindids for the two major operations in Burma.
00:41There's a likeness of him out of the old pub sign that got placed about 12 years ago.
00:49That actually sat in my back garden until very recently.
00:52Did it? Oh wow.
00:54Well done for being a custodian sir, yeah, very special.
01:02Nice to be running a pub, it's such colourful history isn't it really?
01:06And I understand you're going to be here for a few years, you're just in the process of sorting out, you've been here how long?
01:11Working?
01:12On and off 20 odd years with Vimeo 18 months or something, yeah.
01:18Just signing the new lease this, end of this month, yeah.
01:21End of this month, yeah, 31st.
01:23Great stuff, well I was, as you kind of touched upon really, you have gatherings of artists here and art exhibitions and it's really like a community centred pub isn't it?
01:32Yeah, well we look forward to the event guys and we'll bring up some of those images we've talked about on the screen.
01:38So yeah, well done to all involved guys, thank you.
01:42So Emma, we're in your lovely beer garden and you've got some special pens you've had made there.
01:47Yep, so to raise a bit of money for the Royal British Legion, we've got pens for VJ Day and badges.
01:53And let's have a look at the cover on the tin there, you've even got, that's nice isn't it?
01:58Yeah, that was made for me.
01:59Yeah, it's lovely.
02:00So yeah, raising money for British Legion.
02:02Yeah, so for the VJ Day celebrations outside we're going to be raising money for the Royal British Legion and also for inside for the Chinfest for having, that'll be for the Air Ambulance.
02:14When you go.
02:16No.
02:16So Emma, a little bird tells me there's even going to be a bit of dressing up involved, is that right?
02:24Yeah, we're going to dress up 1940s and get into the vibe of it.
02:27Have you sorted your costume out then?
02:29Yeah, so I've got myself a 1940s dress and David's got a uniform to wear.
02:37Oh, awesome, great stuff.
02:39Get yourselves down guys to the chin.
02:40Just remind us of that date again.
02:42It's the 9th of August, 12 o'clock.
