00:00This storm is about to get even scarier.
00:03Keep your eyes locked on the dot right in the middle of the screen.
00:06Don't blink, and don't look away.
00:09In just a few moments, I'm going to show you what the motion after effect is all about.
00:14Basically, this hypnotic image is going to get stuck in your brain, even after it disappears.
00:21Want to see it?
00:22Alright, 3, 2, 1, poof!
00:26Now, do you see the storm still looks like it's swirling in a super freaky way?
00:32Whoa!
00:36Look at these lines.
00:37They're zigzagging all over the place, right?
00:40Well, not really.
00:42Every single one of those lines is perfectly straight.
00:45This is the cafe wall illusion.
00:47All those contrasting colors and staggered patterns trick your brain into thinking the lines are bending when they're not.
00:54Sneaky, huh?
00:56Next, at first glance, it totally looks like the right side of this picture has way more black dots.
01:05But nope, both sides actually have the exact same number of black dots.
01:11If we zoom in, it's crystal clear.
01:13This effect is called the extinction illusion.
01:16It's when a visual detail seems to disappear if it's sitting right at the intersections of lines or grids.
01:22Basically, your brain gets so distracted by all the crossing lines that it forgets the dots are even there.
01:29This same principle is probably what's behind this next illusion.
01:35I mean, keep staring at the center of the image.
01:38Yep, focus right on that tiny green dot, don't look away, and try your best not to blink.
01:46Can you see the yellow dots disappearing?
01:48It might look like they're vanishing, even though they were always there.
01:52Let's play Jenga.
01:57Hmm, okay, a weird kind of Jenga.
02:00Basically, this is actually an impossible object, also called an undecidable figure.
02:06I mean, look at this triangle or this trident.
02:09Your brain sees them and instantly thinks, these are 3D objects.
02:13But here's the thing, if you try to imagine them as real, solid shapes, they just don't make sense.
02:20They simply can't exist in real life.
02:23And our Jenga example is exactly the same.
02:26If you try counting how many blocks are in this image, your brain is just going to say,
02:30Nope, I'm out.
02:34Is this ballerina spinning clockwise or counterclockwise?
02:38Well, here's the crazy part.
02:40Both answers are right.
02:41Your brain can flip her direction in an instant.
02:45Want to test it?
02:46Try looking at her feet instead of her head.
02:48Or close your eyes for a second and open them again.
02:51She might suddenly be spinning the other way.
02:54It's all because this image doesn't have depth cues.
02:57Your brain has to guess the 3D direction.
03:00So your mind does a mental flip and suddenly, wow, she's spinning the other way.
03:06Go to the comments and answer this question.
03:09How many white circles do you see here?
03:11I'll give you a moment.
03:13Ready?
03:14Let's go.
03:22Okay, time's up.
03:24And the answer is none.
03:26Because if you really pay attention, you'll realize there aren't actually any white circles at all.
03:31What's happening is that your brain is tricking you, overcompensating and filling in shapes that look like circles.
03:38In reality, there's nothing there but white space between those black crosses.
03:43Some people, like actress Kate Bosworth, have heterochromia.
03:50In other words, they've got more than one eye color.
03:53Now tell me, does this lady have two different colored eyes or not?
03:57Well, she definitely has gorgeous eyes, but they're not different from each other.
04:02Don't believe me?
04:03Let's split the image so you can check for yourself.
04:06And yep, they're exactly the same gray color.
04:10The eye on the left just looks blue because it's surrounded by a yellow tint.
04:13It's all about how colors mess with our perception.
04:19Our next illusion also plays with colors.
04:22Check out this animation and answer, how many different colors do you see here?
04:27Chances are you're spotting a rainbow palette, including violet and yellow.
04:32But this image is actually made up of only RGB colors, just red, green, and blue.
04:38All those other shades you're seeing are the result of overlapping colors.
04:43It's time for a personality test.
04:47What do you see first in this image?
04:49Hmm, let's see.
04:51If you draw the woman in bed first, it probably means you're someone who worries a lot.
04:56If the maid caught your eye, you might be amazing at solving tricky problems.
05:01If the couple holding hands stood out to you, it could mean you're a true romantic at heart.
05:07And if you notice the old man with the mustache first,
05:10you're probably someone who always sees the big picture.
05:14Of course, this isn't exact science, but it's a pretty fun illusion anyway.
05:21Speaking of ambiguous images, here's another crazy one.
05:24What do you see here?
05:26A moth or two faces?
05:28There's no right answer.
05:30But seriously, tell me in the comments because I'm really curious
05:33whether people find it easier to spot one or the other first.
05:36Now, let's make things a bit more interesting.
05:40What if I flip the black and white?
05:42Did you change your mind?
05:45We all know how the Mona Lisa's gaze seems to follow us everywhere, right?
05:50But this painting gets even crazier when we add this pattern on top of it.
05:54Now, watch what happens when we move the image up and down really fast.
05:59Doesn't it look like her head is shifting side to side?
06:02So freaky!
06:03And so cool!
06:04There are actually a bunch of illusions where images look like they're moving,
06:10even though they're totally still.
06:12Like this one.
06:14Doesn't it seem like each row of arrows is shifting in the direction they're pointing?
06:18But here's the truth.
06:20Nothing in this image is moving at all.
06:22Don't believe me?
06:24Try this.
06:25Close one eye and put your finger right in front of one of the arrows.
06:28See it?
06:29It's completely still.
06:30And the same thing happens here.
06:35It totally looks like the bullseyes are spinning around those squares, but they're not moving
06:40one bit.
06:41If you can't spot the illusion right away, try moving your eyes slowly back and forth across
06:46the image.
06:47Pretty amazing, huh?
06:48And here's yet another one that's hard to believe isn't animated.
06:55It totally looks like these loops are endlessly spinning and looping around, but nope, they're
07:00completely still.
07:02Our brains just can't resist turning static patterns into motion.
07:06And once again, nah, just kidding.
07:11This image is moving, but here's where it gets even weirder.
07:14Pay close attention to the orange circle.
07:17Doesn't it look like it's getting bigger than smaller?
07:21It totally does, but it's just your brain playing tricks on you.
07:25Because the truth is that the orange circle never actually changes size.
07:29Let's keep things moving, but this time in circles.
07:35Well, sort of.
07:36At first glance, it totally looks like these spheres are swirling around in a circular motion.
07:41But pick one sphere and focus on it.
07:44Watch it carefully.
07:46Pretty soon, you'll realize it's actually moving in a straight line.
07:50Crazy how the bigger pattern can trick our brains, right?
07:53Okay, check this out.
07:57The color in this photo of a cow seems totally off.
08:00The left side looks super bluish and the right side is way too yellow.
08:04But there's a way to fix it.
08:06Just stare at the fly right here for a few seconds.
08:09Don't look away.
08:11Yep, keep your eyes locked on that fly.
08:13This staring actually adapts the blue and yellow color channels in your retina.
08:18So when you look back at the cow, the colors suddenly look balanced again.
08:22Ready to test it?
08:24One, two, three, boom!
08:28Can you see it?
08:33And here's our final illusion for today.
08:36These black lines are all moving in the same direction, and it looks like we're just scrolling up.
08:41But watch what happens when we add this red line moving to the right and upward.
08:46Suddenly, it feels like the black lines are shifting in a totally different direction.
08:50Almost like a sheet of paper being slid side to side.
08:55Once again, it's just our brains playing tricks on us.
08:58That's it for today.
09:01So hey, if you pacified your curiosity, then give the video a like and share it with your friends.
09:06Or if you want more, just click on these videos and stay on the bright side.
09:10IHeartside.
09:10So stay on the right side.
09:10Let's see.
09:11So stay on the right side.
09:12You can see the other side.
09:13So stay on the right side.
09:13What do I have done?
09:14Have you ever been here?
09:14血 of blood?
09:15She's in the right side for the other side.
09:16Because some more
