00:00The Malacanang has assured the public that the government did not offer Philippine agricultural products as concessions in negotiations with the United States to lower tariffs on local exports.
00:15Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, Secretary Frederico, said this earlier today, July 24, after the U.S. set the tariff on Philippine products to 19%.
00:32Magagarantee ko po sa inyo, talagang pinag-aralan namin lahat ng mga malalaking industriya natin sa Pilipinas.
00:40Lahat ng where we are a significant market producer, hindi po natin ito sinama sa binigay sa Amerika.
00:52So talagang binusisi po namin yan ng DTI, ano yung mga produktong kailangan natin iprotektahan, ano yung mga farmers natin na kailangan natin protektahan at pinotektahan natin lahat po yan.
01:05Goh said the agriculture sector remains fully protected under the current framework, Amid concerns that cheaper American goods would flood the local market.
01:17He clarified that sensitive goods such as rice, sugar, corn, pork, chicken, and seafood were not included in the concessions granted by the Philippines to secure the reduction of the U.S. tariff on local goods from 20 to 19%.
