00:00When we think of the oldest pyramide, immediately the thought of ancient pyramide of Egypt comes
00:06to our mind, which were built over 4500 years ago.
00:10But what if I told you that is wrong?
00:13Guys, do you know, here is a hidden structure buried beneath a mountain in Indonesia, built
00:19by a lost civilization over 25,000 years ago.
00:23This is Gunan Pandang in West Java, Indonesia.
00:27Hi guys, welcome to our insightful global YouTube channel.
00:31In this video, we are exploring Gunan Pandang, the world's oldest pyramide.
00:36Scientists gave it this name after seeing its structure.
00:39So is Gunan Pandang really an ancient pyramide or is it just special rogue formation?
00:46Let's start the video to explore the facts.
00:49In the green hill of West Java, there is a place called Gunan Pandang.
00:54At first, it looked like a normal hill covered with old stones.
00:59But many experts believe that this could be something much bigger, maybe the oldest pyramide
01:05in the world.
01:06The mystery of Gunan Pandang comes from a strange structure.
01:10Scientists have found that the hill has different layers and some of them seem to be man-made.
01:16But deep underground, there are hidden chambers and some studies suggest that there could be
01:23more than 20,000 years old that is far older than the pyramid of Egypt.
01:28If it is true, this would change everything we know about the ancient history.
01:34But not everyone agrees.
01:36Some scientists say that the hill was formed naturally, not by a lost civilization.
01:41Gunan Pandang is covered with thousands of large stone pillars.
01:47These stones are long, rectangular and looked like they were carefully arranged by people.
01:54But why are they so special?
01:56These stones don't look natural.
01:59Many stones have straight edges and flat surface, which is unusual for natural rogue formation.
02:06Many are stacked on top of each other, forming terraces and paths.
02:11Some stones stand upright, while others are placed in patterns, almost like the walls of
02:19an ancient structure.
02:21These stones look like they were cut and shaped by tools, even though the site is thousands of
02:28years old.
02:29And the shocking thing is that these stones are mostly adhesite.
02:34This is a type of volcanic rock that is very strong.
02:38Scientists believe that they were brought from an other place, because the way they are arranged
02:44does not match normal volcanic formation.
02:46When researchers scanned underground, they found even more stone layers beneath the surface.
02:53These hidden stones are arranged in a specific pattern.
02:58Of course, they are constructed by humans, not by natural.
03:03And the civilization who built it was too much advanced for its time.
03:08If these stones were rarely placed by humans 20,000 years ago, it would mean that the people
03:15back then had advanced building skills, long before the paramount of Egypt.
03:21Long before getting the interest of former archaeologist, Gunung Padang was known to local communities.
03:27local Sandinese people considered it a sacred site for a long time, with various legends
03:32and myths associated with it.
03:35And they regarded it as a place of spiritual significance.
03:39The word Gunung Padang also means the mountain of enlightenment in the Sandinese language.
03:44They gave this name to the mountain because they believe it holds ancient wisdom and spiritual
03:50energy.
03:51Some myths suggest that the structure was built by King Sriwangi in just one night using the
03:57superpowers.
03:59In Sandinese myth, King Sriwangi is famous as a wise, powerful and mystical leader who upheld
04:07justice, protected his people and was deeply spiritual.
04:11The most famous legends claim that King Sriwangi wished to build a grand palace at Gunung Padang.
04:18However, his followers complete it in one night using the supernatural powers.
04:24But before the sun rose, the construction remained incomplete.
04:29So the work was stopped and this left behind the ancient stone ruins we see today.
04:35Many experts say that King Sriwangi is just a historical figure.
04:40His association with Gunung Padang is largely mythological.
04:45There is no archaeological evidence linking him directly to the site's construction.
04:51One of the main reasons for calling it an oldest paramide is that it is built in exactly
04:56the same way the ancient Ajik paramides were built.
05:00Both rectangular shaped stones are arranged and used in its construction that are similar
05:05to the stone of Ajik paramide.
05:08And also these stones are cut and stacked in such a structured manner that are similar
05:13to how paramides builders arrange stone layers to create stable towering structure and also
05:19its arrangement follows a stepped and terrace design, much like the stepped paramide of ancient
05:26civilization.
05:27The first recorded mention of Gunung Padang in modern times came in 1914 when Dutch archaeologist
05:34N.J.
05:35Crone wrote about it in an archaeological report, identifying it as an ancient megalithic site.
05:42He noted the strange and complicated stone arrangement on the hill that looked so much attractive.
05:47However, no detailed studies were conducted at that time because at that time it was primarily
05:54considered a megalithic site rather than a pyramid.
05:57Guys, megalithic site means that the structure built by arranging large stone.
06:02In 1979, the site gained more formal attention.
06:06When a group of local farmers and archaeologists from the National Archaeological Research Center,
06:12which was famous by the name of Pusat Penelitian Archaeology National, they discovered this site
06:19and conducted preliminary excavations.
06:22They also conducted that this megalithic structure possibly used for retools by an advanced and
06:28skilled ancient civilization between 2,000 to 3,000 years ago.
06:32However, limited archaeological surveys and studies were conducted between the time period
06:37of 1980s and 1990s.
06:39But still, the site did not receive any extensive attention during this period.
06:44The suspicion that Gunung Padang might actually be a great pyramid emerged more prominently
06:51in 2010 when Indonesian geologist Dr. Daniel Hilmer Netawir Jaja from the Indonesian Institute
06:59of Science and his team began extensive research on Gunung Padang using ground-penetrating radar
07:07core drilling in which we drill deep into the ground and other geophysical methods to explore
07:14the site's deeper layer.
07:16This was the first time when this against the dead.
07:20The Gunung Padang was not just a megalithic structure, but could be an ancient man-made
07:25pyramid with stone layers, possibly dated back to 20,000 years ago.
07:31Everyone was shocked at that time because this is far older than any known civilization.
07:37The previous thing further explained the reason for calling it an oldest pyramid is that
07:42it was built in exactly the same way the ancient Egypt pyramids were built, and same big-sized
07:50and rectangular-shaped stones were arranged and used in its construction, which were used
07:57in the construction of Egypt pyramids.
07:59They also observed that these stones are cut by tools and stacked in such a structured
08:05manner that is similar to the way how pyramid builders arranged stone layers to create stable
08:12toveling structure.
08:13And also this stone arrangement followed step, terrace and toveling structure.
08:19This sparked significant debate within the archaeological community, with some experts spotting the
08:25findings and others questioning the methodologies and conclusions.
08:30This thing further proposed that the visible megalithic structures are only the top layer of a much
08:36older structure, and beneath the surface they found artificial chambers, layers of construction
08:42and evidence of human activities.
08:45Many archaeologists and historians arguing that the site may have natural geological formations
08:51that were later modified by humans.
08:53more studies were needed to confirm the claims.
08:56Dr. Natabijaja's claims sparked significant controversy as they discovered very shocking
09:02fact at that time that human history might be far older than we have even imagined.
09:08He said that this oldest pyramid, Gunung Padang, was built not 2,000 or 3,000 years ago but
09:15possibly over 20,000 years ago, making it older than the ice age and far older than the recorded
09:22human history.
09:23Morean archaeology tells us that human civilization began around 6,000 to 7,000 years ago with the
09:31rise of cities like Sumer and ancient Egypt.
09:34But what if that is wrong?
09:36What if an advanced society existed 10 of thousands of years before that?
09:41Recent studies using geological surveys and carbon dating suggest that the deepest layers
09:48of Gunung Padang could date back over 24,000 years.
09:52That is long before we believed humans were capable of large-scale constructions.
09:57Could there have been an advanced civilization before the ice age that we have completely forgotten?
10:04And if so, then what happened to them?
10:06The answer remains buried beneath the ground.
10:09But one thing is certain.
10:11Gunung Padang challenges everything we thought we know about human history.
10:16However, this theory remains controversial among the mainstream archaeologists who argue that
10:22more evidence is needed to confirm such an ancient date.
10:27But the question is that have the researchers found anything like any ancient coin or any kind
10:33of jewelry or any metal road under the ground, or during their drilling process, or any other
10:38thing which they show us as evidence of the presence of such an old civilization.
10:44However, as of now, no verified coin or any kind of metal artifacts have been officially
10:50reported from Gunung Padang.
10:53Some researchers, particularly those who spotting the lost advanced civilization theory, have suggested
10:58by the way that the deeper layer of Gunung Padang might contain the metal objects or evidence
11:04of the presence of such an advanced civilization.
11:07However, as this theory is not.
