00:00Okay, we just put a story up on the website that Ozzy Osbourne has died, 76 years old.
00:07He has had his medical issues over the last few years.
00:11We knew, and we knew he was very sick.
00:13But the family came out with a statement.
00:16The entire family was there at his bedside when he passed this morning.
00:20What a life.
00:21You know, it's wild.
00:22He's 76.
00:23Like you said, he's had health issues for a long time.
00:24It's not surprising, but it is still very shocking.
00:27Because Ozzy Osbourne is somebody that just seemed always so alive.
00:31Just such a larger-than-life presence, like a legend in music.
00:34The godfather of heavy metal.
00:36What an icon, what a legend.
00:37You don't remember, but he, Black Sabbath formed in 1968.
00:43And they kicked Ozzy out of the group because of problems with drugs and alcohol.
00:47And he struggled with that.
00:49But the amazing thing, you don't see a lot, is when somebody leaves a group,
00:55usually they don't do as well.
00:58Sometimes they do.
00:58But Ozzy did.
00:59Especially in those circumstances where he did have a lot of issues,
01:02a lot of things to overcome.
01:03And he just became even bigger.
01:05Thirteen albums.
01:06Yeah.
01:07Grammys.
01:07Millions of albums sold.
01:08He's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice as a member of Black Sabbath and as a solo artist.
01:12Which is amazing.
01:13And he's just such a part of pop culture.
01:15I mean, to music fans, this is an incredible loss.
01:18But biting the head off a bat in 1982, everyone knows that story.
01:22Yeah, which is what I remember.
01:23That's what everybody thinks of.
01:24And even crazier, to younger people, he's the dad from reality TV.
01:29Well, yeah, the Osbournes was...
01:31Kind of pioneered.
01:32The Osbournes really pioneered celebrities.
01:34It did.
01:34It absolutely pioneered.
01:36It set the stage for Eric Hilton.
01:37Eric worked on the show.
01:39He worked on the Osbournes show.
01:40I worked on the show with Jack and Ozzy where they went around the country on a road trip together.
01:44Like a father-son bonding moment.
01:45It was a really great show.
01:46It was on History Channel.
01:48Ozzy was the best.
01:49He was naturally funny.
01:50So charismatic.
01:52He, like, didn't act his age.
01:53When he was...
01:54On his downtime, he was just drawing and sketching.
01:56He loved drawing.
01:57I'm sure we'll see a lot of those in the coming months, which Sharon will release.
02:00But, yeah, it's a huge loss.
02:02The other thing that's really interesting about Ozzy is Sharon.
02:06That Sharon got him clean and really helped manage his career.
02:12I think her dad worked with Black Sabbath and she took over.
02:18And Sharon was...
02:20Sharon was Kris Jenner before Kris Jenner.
02:23She was.
02:24She managed his solo career, kept him functioning enough to become a huge superstar, helped him get clean.
02:30And then, oddly, helped him turn into America's dad.
02:34Yeah.
02:34Which is such an odd thing.
02:36Really odd.
02:37I mean...
02:37And famously, he's known to a lot of people when they think of Ozzy, they think, Sharon!
02:41Yeah.
02:41Yelling her name.
02:42That's what he is to a lot of people.
02:43Absolutely.
02:44And they had some few separations, bumps in the road, but they stayed together until the end.
02:50It really was.
02:52Yeah, what a loss.
02:54My name is Ty Wilson.
02:55I'm in Denver, Colorado.
02:56And it's just such a tragedy to see a monolith in media go like this, from television to live performance to music.
03:05Ozzy Osbourne really changed the game in every way he could.
03:08He did.
03:09He did.
03:09And I had the...
03:10I once saw them at a Thanksgiving dinner, the whole family, at a hotel.
03:16I brought my parents there, and they were there.
03:20And I had more fun just watching them at that table.
03:24It was...
03:24They were a loving, loving family.
03:27They were a loving family.
