00:00Welcome back, kicking off the 2025 season.
00:04We're excited about our off-season program we just went through with our players,
00:08obviously draft class and some of the veterans that we added to the roster.
00:13I thought Coach Callahan and his staff did a good job this off-season,
00:17just helping this football team grow.
00:20Mike worked with our nutrition staff and strength coaches and sports scientists
00:25and even challenged these players a little bit from a body composition standpoint.
00:30And these guys came in in shape.
00:32Some guys changed their body comps, they look great, they're ready to go.
00:36I know I saw a lot of guys coming in out of this building throughout the summer even,
00:39so they're excited to be here, and we are too, and we look forward to what's ahead of us.
00:45Obviously, we've got a lot of work to do as a football team over the next five weeks.
00:50It's going to be really, really important to us,
00:52and it will continue not up to the first game of the season in Denver,
00:55but even really the first four games of the season,
00:57and really finding out what kind of football team we do have.
01:01And that's always exciting for us as personnel men to really see what we got,
01:05and we're just excited about it.
01:07So I appreciate everybody being here.
01:10I just want to echo a lot of stuff that Chad said,
01:13the excitement that we have here coming into camp.
01:16I thought we did some really good things in the spring,
01:19and it's going to be really good to build upon that,
01:21and it's going to be important.
01:22You know, our work is never done, though.
01:25You know, we're always going to be looking to improve this roster wherever we can.
01:29You know, I think we added some good players in the offseason here
01:33to help the competition here on the roster,
01:36whether that's in free agency or the draft.
01:38I think it's a good mix of vets and young guys right now,
01:42and you can see in the spring, too,
01:44these vets are pulling along these young guys and really helping them out,
01:48so it's a good thing to see in terms of the team-building aspect.
01:53So, you know, we're looking forward to, you know, training camp here
01:56and really to make improvements every day, and that's what we're trying to do.
02:01Just a few rostered updates.
02:04Lloyd Cushenberry will start on PUP.
02:07He's making good progress right now.
02:08He's just not there yet.
02:09I would say he's week-to-week right now.
02:12Same thing with LJ.
02:14LJarius, he's going to start out on PUP.
02:17LJ's been working really hard here in the offseason to get back,
02:21and he's week-to-week as well right now.
02:23Will Levis, we put out a statement on him yesterday
02:26that he will have shoulder surgery and be out for the remainder of the season.
02:30And the other one is Lorenzo Carter,
02:33who notified us yesterday that he will be retiring.
02:37So we wish him well.
02:38About one person's decision, you know, I think it's really important.
02:41I emphasize this in the meeting the other day with the coaches is the communication.
02:45I want it daily, you know, not just in meetings.
02:48I want it on the field, in the building, when we're passing.
02:50It's really important that we obviously get this right here at the end.
02:54And so communication will be vital between the coaching staff and the personnel staff.
03:01Yeah, Kevin's worked really hard here in the offseason,
03:04and, you know, he's ready to hit the ground running.
03:06He's in great shape right now.
03:09You know, he's been here like the whole summer, you know,
03:12watching film in the building and working out.
03:15And so we're really excited to see him.
03:19You know, they have game reps.
03:22They have starter reps.
03:24You know, I think Brandon, you know, obviously was with Brian in Cincinnati.
03:28He has a really good understanding of the offense.
03:30And, listen, he had a really good offseason here, too.
03:33I was impressed with him.
03:35So, you know, I've watched Brandon over the years,
03:39and, you know, every time he comes out there, he competes hard.
03:43So, you know, we're going to continue to evaluate that position,
03:48like every position in training camp.
03:49With the patience, then?
03:51There's a lot of new pieces in there, right?
03:53There's some veterans.
03:54It's a good mix right now of vets and young guys, some unproven guys.
04:00But I think it's really good.
04:01You saw during the spring some of those, you know,
04:05especially guys like Ridd, who I've never really been around.
04:07I always knew he was a really good player.
04:08But, you know, the way that he takes his time out to teach these young guys
04:14is really important.
04:15And they look up to him and the way he works.
04:19So, you know, I'm excited to see how it plays out.
04:21I think we have some talent in that room.
04:24Like I said, there's some veterans.
04:25There's some young, unproven talent.
04:27So, you know, we're excited to see how this is going to unfold.
04:31Where's the confidence in Allen?
04:33Yeah, nobody wants to hear that word, patience.
04:36I get that.
04:37But the reality is we understand where we are as a roster.
04:42We've got a lot of work to do.
04:44And we're going to be relying on a lot of young players this season
04:47to carry this football team.
04:49And we need those veteran players as well to help those young players grow.
04:55So there will be some challenges.
04:57But I do want to see our football team improve from day to day to week to week
05:02to where by the end of the season, you know, we'll see what we look like.
05:06Hopefully we're healthy.
05:06This is a game.
05:07It's a war of attrition.
05:09So you've got to be healthy.
05:10And there's just a lot of work to do.
05:12So it's hard to really define, you know,
05:14if you're asking me what does success look like in 2025, you know,
05:18I think that's for you guys to write about.
05:21I mean, I'm just – I just want to see this team get better.
05:24And we'll go through another, you know, season this year, acquisition.
05:29You know, we got the first waiver claim.
05:31We're going to constantly be looking to upgrade this roster.
05:35You know, if guys aren't getting the job done,
05:37then we'll get guys in here that will.
05:40So the top of the roster is just as important as the bottom.
05:43What do we feel?
05:44We feel good with the room right now.
05:46I mean, obviously we had a dream on.
05:48You know, we drafted Femi Yardins here.
05:50You know, there's a chance we could add somebody here at some point.
05:54I guess both of you like him.
05:56You know, we have had conversations.
05:57He's been very transparent with us.
06:00We knew there was a possibility that he could have this surgery.
06:04But just out of respect with Will, to him,
06:07I'd like to keep those medical conversations private.
06:10But we were aware of it, though.
06:12Can you explain how does the timing fit for him, fit for you?
06:18Yeah, you know, we knew after the season, you know,
06:21rest and rehab was the recommendation from our staff
06:24and from the second opinion staff that he sought information on.
06:30And there was an option that, you know,
06:32they recommended that he push through the offseason, which he did.
06:35Had a really good offseason.
06:37And if he felt discomfort, that he would proceed with the surgery.
06:42And that's what he did.
06:43With Lorenzo retiring.
06:46With Lorenzo retiring.
