00:00:15This competition is so far beyond my physical capacity.

00:00:22Susie O'Neill.
00:00:24It's way out of my comfort zone and it's a huge challenge.

00:00:51I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end.
00:00:53Relax, relax, relax.
00:00:56Mia Favola.
00:00:57Honestly, just getting through that first dance will be my biggest achievement.
00:01:02Sean McAuliffe.
00:01:03My mother would love that trophy.
00:01:05Now I have a renewed purpose.
00:01:08Rebecca Gibney.
00:01:09It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
00:01:11It's just kind of overwhelming.
00:01:14Harry Garside.
00:01:15I'm going to try my best to be in it as much as I can and feel the emotion that it brings out.
00:01:21And Karina Cavaglio.
00:01:24This is all new for me.
00:01:25Maybe I might get there.
00:01:27We could nail this.
00:01:28We are the resistor.
00:01:40So together we'll make it through.
00:01:46Someday a spirit will lift you and take you there.
00:01:53I know you've been hurting, but I've been there waiting to be there for you.
00:01:59And I'll be there just helping you out whenever I can.

00:03:31From the studios of Channel 7, this is Dancing with the Stars.
00:03:43Please welcome your hosts, Sonia Kruger and Chris Brown.
00:03:48Welcome to Dancing with the Stars 2025.
00:04:16What a way to start the series.
00:04:17Please give it up one more time for our sensational professional dancers and that incredible choreography.
00:04:25Courtesy of the fabulous Kelly Abbey.
00:04:28There is so much to look forward to this series, but I am particularly excited to be back here with you, Chris,
00:04:34now that your work probation period is over.
00:04:36Thank you, Sonia.
00:04:37I prefer to call it a cooling off period, but sure.
00:04:40Look, I am pumped to be back in this here ballroom again.
00:04:43Look at the vibe.
00:04:44Yes.
00:04:44The energy, it is special, and this series, well, it boasts more episodes, more dances, and let's be honest,
00:04:51more sequins than you can shake a sparkly stick at.
00:04:55But it's only second season, so I don't really know all the terms, all the dancing terms.
00:04:59Plus, there's a huge surprise.
00:05:01There'll be more special performances than ever before.
00:05:04Yes.
00:05:04Yeah.
00:05:04But for the celebrities, the competition is harder than ever.
00:05:10Get this.
00:05:11This year, there are no dance-offs.
00:05:13What?
00:05:13No.
00:05:14You're in the meeting, Sonia.
00:05:16Which means no second chances for anyone.
00:05:18It is go big or go home every single time they step onto this dance floor.
00:05:23And this series, we are delighted that our viewers at home will also get their chance to vote
00:05:28on who ultimately wins the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
00:05:33Now, with the pressure mounting, our celebrities are all determined to impress you at home,
00:05:37to impress our studio audience, of course, and this awesome foursome.
00:05:42Please welcome...
00:05:44The judges.
00:05:46Helen Ritchie.
00:05:50Bob Wilson.
00:05:51Shana Burgess.
00:05:55And Craig Rebel-Horwood.
00:06:02Oh, yeah.
00:06:05All right.
00:06:15Look at them, the Justice League of Dancing with the Stars.
00:06:19And who knew Craig had a beard?
00:06:22I literally woke up with it one morning, darling.
00:06:25And I borrowed the hair from Mark down the end.
00:06:29It's his summer wig.
00:06:31You all look fantastic, don't they?
00:06:34Absolutely stunning.
00:06:36It is wonderful to have you all back.
00:06:38You know what's wonderful is that we get to do our job here and you have to do your job there.
00:06:43Because that is a tough, tough gig over there.
00:06:44It is.
00:06:45There are 12 couples waiting nervously in the wings.
00:06:48But, Craig, your calming presence and your kind words of encouragement will surely help them find their focus.
00:06:54So, let's not keep them waiting any longer.
00:06:56Please welcome...
00:06:57Our dancing stars.
00:06:58Logey Award-winning actor, Rebecca Gibney, and her partner, Ian Waite.
00:07:09TV host and podcaster, Osher Ginsberg, and his partner, Shriani Argate.
00:07:14Olympic gold medalist, Susie O'Neill, and her partner, Liu Masuda.
00:07:19Olympic boxer, Harry Garside, and his partner, Siobhan Power.
00:07:26Podcaster and radio host, Brittany Hockley, and her partner, Craig Monley.
00:07:33Journalist and 7 News broadcaster, Michael Usher, and his partner, Natalie Lowe.
00:07:38Brand influencer and fashion founder, Mia Pagola, and her partner, Gustavo Vidlio.
00:07:45Home and Away star, Kyle Schilling, and his partner, Lily Cornish.
00:07:48Journalist and 7 News reader, Karina Cavaglio, and her partner, Andre Thorbenor.
00:07:54Comedian and actor, Felicity Ward, and her partner, Arikyu Goodkin.
00:07:59AFL champion, Trent Cochnin, and his partner, Jess Raffa.
00:08:04And TV comic, Sean McAuliffe, and his partner, Ashley Hunter.
00:08:07What an unbelievable line-up.
00:08:24So many things to say, but so little time.
00:08:26Don't they look fantastic?
00:08:27Fantastic. Now, to kick off the competition, our 12 couples will be split into two teams.
00:08:33Six couples will hit the floor tonight, while the remaining six will dance next time.
00:08:38Yeah, throughout tonight's show, our non-competing teams will be in the audience,
00:08:41soaking up the electric atmosphere in the ballroom, and of course, just sizing up the competition.
00:08:46And now, no couples will go home tonight, so no matter what happens on the dance floor,
00:08:50they will all live to dance again.
00:08:53That's right. Even if someone T-bones the judge's desk, they will be back to dance again.
00:08:58Oh, yes. So, let's get this party started with AFL champ, Trent Cochnin.
00:09:02He's a Brownlow medalist and three-time premiership winning captain.
00:09:05He knows how to dominate on the field, but can he do it the same on the dance floor?
00:09:10Let's find out as we look back at how he and his partner, Jess, got on in training.
00:09:13I'm Trent Cochnin, and I'm best known for my time as captain at the Richmond Footy Club,
00:09:21where we won three premierships.
00:09:23Trent Cochnin, have you ever seen anything like it?
00:09:27He was also a Brownlow medal winner.
00:09:29I want to show my kids and my family that it's okay to put yourself out there.
00:09:35My name's Jess Raffa, and this is my ninth series of Dancing with the Stars.
00:09:39I've won Dancing with the Stars once, and I'm ready to do that again.
00:09:44Oh.
00:09:46The thing I'm most worried about is the emotion of performing and getting into character.
00:09:51But you know what? Suck it up.
00:09:53You're a dancer now.
00:09:59I am a footy player, definitely not a dancer.
00:10:03Our arms, stretch them out as wide as you can.
00:10:06Bend your elbows in, and probably the other arm up.
00:10:09I'm loving that finger there. What's going on there?
00:10:12Trent has a few broken fingers, but I think we can get around all of that.
00:10:16You're my third footballer.
00:10:18Third footballer.
00:10:19Third.
00:10:20It's the hardest thing for these blokes that have never danced before.
00:10:23It's that connection with a stranger.
00:10:26Slow, slow.
00:10:27Ba, ba, ba.
00:10:29Ba, ba, ba.
00:10:30Ba, ba, ba.
00:10:30Whoa, that was so good.
00:10:33Our first dance is a tango, and in this routine, Trent needs to be a little bit sexy.
00:10:43It needs to be sharp, sultry.
00:10:45My kids are going to cringe at the word sexy.
00:10:48I know.
00:10:48Sexy makes you uncomfortable.
00:10:50Very.
00:10:51Very uncomfortable.
00:10:52Every time I get him to look at me, he freaks out.
00:10:55No, you up.
00:10:57Here's the game.
00:10:59It's not just learning the dance steps and dancing.
00:11:02You're also kind of acting as well,
00:11:04which is another part of it that I probably didn't really think about.
00:11:08Yeah, and that's... We haven't even touched it, are you?
00:11:15Dancing the Tango.
00:11:17Please welcome Trent Conchen and his partner, Jess Raffer.
00:11:52I want to be that guy.
00:11:54I want to kiss your eyes.
00:11:56I want to drink that smile.
00:11:58I want to be like I know my soul's on fire.
00:12:01I want to stay up all day and all night.
00:12:04Yeah, you got me seemin' like,
00:12:07Ooh, I love it when you do it like that.
00:12:10And when you close up, give me the shivers.
00:12:12Oh, baby, you wanna dance to the sunlight bright
00:12:16And when they see the fun is over, then we'll bring it right back
00:12:20Baby, you burn so hot, you make me shiver with fire
00:12:25You got this thing we started, I don't want it to stop
00:12:30You know you make me shiver
00:12:32Yeah, you got me singing like, ooh, I love it when you do it like that
00:12:38And when you tore this up, give me the shivers
00:12:41Oh, baby, you wanna dance to the sunlight bright
00:12:45And when they see the fun is over, then we'll bring it right back
00:12:49Trent Conscious, what about that?
00:13:06I don't breathe for the last 40 seconds
00:13:08Well, look at the audience, they're all up on their feet, Trent
00:13:11That's good, thank you everyone
00:13:13How are you feeling right now?
00:13:16I'm pretty relieved that it's over
00:13:17Yeah, well, first cab off the rank, that's nerve-wracking
00:13:20Yeah, lots of pressure, but I mean, you put in the practice
00:13:24And hope that it all comes together on the night
00:13:26Which it did, it did
00:13:28I mean, Jess, you've danced with three footballers now?
00:13:31Yes, he's my third
00:13:32And how would you rank him?
00:13:34He's pretty nice to dance with
00:13:36Oh, good
00:13:37As you can see, it felt good, so
00:13:39I'm sure you wanna hear from the judges, Trent
00:13:41So let's get their comments
00:13:43Helen
00:13:43Well, I thought you did a great job, Tiger
00:13:46Thank you
00:13:47And I have to say, you know, you have actually a really nice posture
00:13:53Lovely length through your spine
00:13:55Your frame gets a little bit twisted at times
00:13:57And it's a bit flat-footed
00:13:58But I think for your first dance, you did a great job tonight
00:14:02So well done, Trent
00:14:03Thank you
00:14:03Craig
00:14:05I would have liked to have seen you drive this dance across the floor a lot more
00:14:11There were hardly any heel leads whatsoever
00:14:15It lacked any form of passion, I'm afraid
00:14:20It was an emotional wasteland, darling
00:14:23This dance is not only a dance
00:14:26But you also have to learn to act in every single dance
00:14:29It's not good enough just coming out stony-faced
00:14:32And like counting in your head
00:14:33But you know what I did love, Trent
00:14:35I just like saying your name
00:14:37It had fantastic attack
00:14:40You really came out
00:14:41And it was sharp
00:14:42It was staccato
00:14:43And your thumb was almost down, dog
00:14:46Thank you
00:14:47Mark
00:14:51The great thing about your dancing
00:14:53Is that you have a beautiful, strong, straight body
00:14:57Which means you move everything as one
00:14:58It's gonna be great for the next few weeks
00:15:00I think you're gonna really surprise the audience
00:15:03Well done, go you
00:15:04Thank you
00:15:04Shana
00:15:07Trent, not only was this your first dance ever
00:15:09You just opened up the whole season of Dancing with the Stars
00:15:12So congratulations
00:15:13Thank you
00:15:13It is no small thing to be first up
00:15:17But let me tell you, you delivered
00:15:19You came out with a tack
00:15:20I could see you committing to really
00:15:22I could see the work that you did on your footwork
00:15:26And yes, it does need more practice, more definition
00:15:28But I could see the attention to it
00:15:30And I really appreciate that
00:15:32You've heard a few people mention frame
00:15:34And so two things that I want to give you as takeaways to work on
00:15:37Really, you've got the heart up
00:15:39You have lovely posture
00:15:40Just go a little wider on those elbows
00:15:42Much wider out
00:15:43Really put that heart up to the sky
00:15:45And then when you're leading Jess
00:15:47Because you're a fantastic partner
00:15:49But lead her from your lats, not your arms
00:15:52And that way you'll keep that frame nice and wide for her to do her thing
00:15:55But I see it in you, man
00:15:56You've really got something
00:15:57And I think you're going to shine this season
00:15:59Thank you very much
00:16:00Good look
00:16:00Some great advice there
00:16:02Absolutely
00:16:03Yeah, good takeaways
00:16:04Good takeaways
00:16:05Why don't you take them away up to Chris in the Skybox
00:16:08Thank you
00:16:09While we have a look back at Trent's sexy tango chest wrapper
00:16:15Bringing all the moves
00:16:17The lifts
00:16:17The turns
00:16:18The leather vest
00:16:20It had it all
00:16:21Well done
00:16:25Well done
00:16:26Well done
00:16:26Thank you
00:16:27Thank you
00:16:28Wow, we just heard it then
00:16:29You've led off the entire series
00:16:31In footy terms
00:16:32That's an early touch
00:16:33Well, actually
00:16:35As the Tigers
00:16:35They used to lead off opening rounds
00:16:38So
00:16:38Maybe it's something to do with that
00:16:40It's not too foreign for you, is it?
00:16:42Like, you've actually taken this really well
00:16:43And I mean
00:16:44Just to, I guess
00:16:45Ease you into it
00:16:45Basically put a gold sash across that
00:16:48That's a Richmond Tigers Guernsey right there
00:16:50Feel right at home
00:16:51Really, really solid start
00:16:52To get things underway
00:16:53Thank you
00:16:54I appreciate that
00:16:55We do need to ask
00:16:56That the kids have been talking about
00:16:57The cringe factor
00:16:58Dad's bringing the sexy
00:17:00And therefore
00:17:01Dad's bringing the cringe
00:17:02The kids are here
00:17:03How do you think they've found
00:17:04What's the
00:17:04What's the cotch and cringometer
00:17:06Doing right now?
00:17:07I'm not sure
00:17:08You'd have to ask them
00:17:09I mean
00:17:09It's so nice
00:17:10Having my wife
00:17:11And my kids
00:17:12And family in the crowd
00:17:13I mean
00:17:14It's a big reason
00:17:15As to why I'm here
00:17:15And showing them
00:17:16It's okay to do something
00:17:17That's really
00:17:17Really out there
00:17:19And uncomfortable for me
00:17:20So
00:17:20I'm sure I'll get plenty of feedback
00:17:22On the ride home
00:17:23I'm quite sure
00:17:25Now Jess
00:17:25Yes
00:17:26You are such a firecracker
00:17:27You're a brilliant dancer
00:17:29Thank you
00:17:29You always bring the sexy
00:17:31How's the eye contact going?
00:17:32Because I know that's been
00:17:33A challenge
00:17:34Yeah it was a challenge
00:17:35He was stooped over
00:17:37When I got him
00:17:38And now he's actually
00:17:39Standing up
00:17:40And he's looking at me
00:17:41And I'm just so proud of him
00:17:42It feels awesome out there
00:17:43Yeah
00:17:44It was very very impressive
00:17:45A great way to start the series
00:17:46Thank you
00:17:47And look
00:17:48By law we do now
00:17:49Have to go to the judges
00:17:50For the judges scores
00:17:51Ladies and gentlemen
00:17:53The judges have their scores
00:17:54Craig Revel Horwood
00:17:56Four
00:17:57Helen Ritchie
00:17:59Six
00:18:00Shana Burgess
00:18:02Five
00:18:03Mark Wilson
00:18:05Six
00:18:06There we go
00:18:07Score of 21
00:18:08How do you feel about that
00:18:10To start things off
00:18:11I mean
00:18:12You're always striving
00:18:13For as good as possible
00:18:14But that's a start
00:18:15We can go up
00:18:16And on the stats board
00:18:18On the leader board
00:18:19You are winning right now
00:18:20You are winning the competition
00:18:22We love that
00:18:22Back to you Sonia
00:18:24Thank you Chris
00:18:25We are off and running
00:18:26Backstage
00:18:27Harry Garside
00:18:28Susie O'Neill
00:18:29And Rebecca Gibney

00:18:36And her partner

00:19:05To put herself
00:19:06Out there
00:19:07On a microphone
00:19:08But how comfortable
00:19:09Is she putting herself
00:19:10Out there

00:19:30Pointing in different directions
00:19:31And then you started
00:19:32The podcast
00:19:3390 million downloads
00:19:35And we won
00:19:36The listeners choice
00:19:37At the podcast awards
00:19:38Three years running
00:19:39I'm Craig Monley
00:19:41And this is my
00:19:42Eighth season
00:19:43Of Dancing with the Stars
00:19:43I come in hot
00:19:46Hard and fast
00:19:47You know what
00:19:47Give me the energy
00:19:48Any day
00:19:49That might be famous
00:19:49Last words
00:19:50The cha-cha
00:19:56It's ten times harder
00:19:57Than I ever thought
00:19:58It could be
00:19:58Cha-cha's cool
00:20:00It's one of the five
00:20:01Latin dancers
00:20:01Really fast
00:20:02Yeah
00:20:03So you're gonna be needing
00:20:04Like fast feet
00:20:05Lots of hip action
00:20:06Lots of body movement
00:20:07My nickname for my family
00:20:11My friends
00:20:11And my fiancé Ben
00:20:12Is Hurricane Brittany
00:20:14I always come in
00:20:15Like within seconds
00:20:16Things are usually chaos
00:20:18God I hope I don't
00:20:20Pop a hip out
00:20:21Oh
00:20:22Cha-cha
00:20:23Way
00:20:24Two
00:20:24Three
00:20:25Cha
00:20:26Yeah
00:20:26Let's say she's got
00:20:27A definite style
00:20:28I don't know if it's
00:20:30Our style
00:20:30But it's a definite style
00:20:32Twist
00:20:33It's like Eminem says
00:20:36You get one shot
00:20:37If I can pull it together
00:20:39It's the only important thing
00:20:41Dancing the cha-cha
00:20:45Please welcome Brittany Hockley
00:20:48And her partner
00:20:49Craig Monley
00:20:50If someone told me
00:20:57That the world would end tonight
00:20:59You could take all that
00:21:00I've got for once
00:21:01I wouldn't start fighting
00:21:03I'll leave her head
00:21:05I'll scream and I'll cry
00:21:07We've already wasted our time
00:21:10I'm never gonna let it dance again
00:21:14I'm never gonna let it dance again
00:21:18Oh
00:21:19I just wanna pop a light to my record
00:21:22That go under my clothes
00:21:24I'm never gonna let it dance again
00:21:26Woohoo
00:21:28D-d-d-d-d-dance
00:21:29I'm gonna dance, bro
00:21:30D-d-d-dance
00:21:31I'm gonna dance
00:21:32D-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d
00:21:33D-d-d-d So gonna dance again
00:21:34D-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d
00:21:36fire
00:21:36We've already wasted our time
00:21:40I'm never gonna not dance again
00:21:49I'm never gonna not dance again
00:21:53Oh, I just wanna pop a lot to my record
00:21:57For all of my clothes
00:21:59I'm never gonna not dance again
00:22:01I'm never gonna not dance again
00:22:04I'm never gonna not dance again
00:22:08So let the music play till the end
00:22:13Hurricane Brittany coming in hot!
00:22:25I don't know about hot, but it was a hurricane, wasn't it?
00:22:28It was. How do you feel like it went?
00:22:32Like a hurricane?
00:22:33A hundred miles an hour.
00:22:35I had fun, definitely I've nailed it way better in practice
00:22:39Still catching my breath
00:22:41It's interesting though, because in practice today
00:22:45You had a few wardrobe issues, right?
00:22:46That didn't happen tonight, which is good
00:22:48Yeah, so if everyone playing at home
00:22:50My skirt came off today
00:22:51Multiple times
00:22:53While she was dancing
00:22:53My heels were stuck
00:22:54It threw my confidence in the rehearsal
00:22:57Yeah
00:22:57Thinking that my skirt would come off again
00:22:59And no one needs to see me in a G-string
00:23:00I think there'd be plenty of people that would disagree with you, Brittany
00:23:04But anyway
00:23:05The thing is, you brought such energy and joy to it
00:23:09And you've done this for Craig
00:23:10This is the first time
00:23:11How many seasons have you been on the show, Craig?
00:23:14This will be my eighth season
00:23:15This is the first time I've seen Craig smile
00:23:17It's like he's escaped from a cult
00:23:20It's really weird
00:23:21Should we get some judges' comments?
00:23:24If we must
00:23:24We must, we must
00:23:26Shana
00:23:27I used to, when I was competing on the show
00:23:30And I'd have partners
00:23:31And we'd have a terrible dress rehearsal
00:23:32I used to kind of love it
00:23:34Because I always felt like
00:23:35It was like crappy dress rehearsal
00:23:36Amazing show
00:23:37And that's what you just did tonight, by the way
00:23:39You had an amazing first performance for us
00:23:42But my big thing I want you to work on moving forward
00:23:46Is your posture
00:23:47What happens for me
00:23:48Is your hips end up sitting forward
00:23:50And your shoulders go back
00:23:52So you're back-weighted on your heels
00:23:54And it makes you a little bit slow
00:23:55And a little bit behind the beat sometimes
00:23:57And then you panic
00:23:58And you rush
00:23:59And you get ahead of it
00:24:00But girl, you've got something
00:24:01You are amazing out there
00:24:02And you're infectious to watch
00:24:03I love it
00:24:04It's beautiful
00:24:05Thank you
00:24:05Thanks for the comments
00:24:06Mark
00:24:07Yeah, Shana
00:24:08I'm completely with you about the posture
00:24:10Because once you get your posture right
00:24:12And you send your body more to your foot
00:24:14The speed will come when you want to arrive there
00:24:16But then you can hold music more
00:24:18You're very vivacious
00:24:19And you come up with this beautiful energy
00:24:21It's a great start
00:24:22Well done
00:24:23Thank you
00:24:23Helen
00:24:25Do you know what was really lovely about you?
00:24:28You are totally uninhibited
00:24:30And you just look like you just love doing this
00:24:33I think that's fabulous
00:24:33Yeah, you had a few hiccups
00:24:35You made a few mistakes
00:24:36You lost timing a few times
00:24:38But you actually
00:24:39When you're on
00:24:40You're quite a good mover
00:24:42You're a bit steppy
00:24:43Your transference of weight needs to be smoother
00:24:45But your arm styling's quite lovely at times
00:24:48You know how to extend lines
00:24:49So forget about all of that
00:24:51The hiccups
00:24:52Okay
00:24:53It's your first attempt at this
00:24:55I think you're full of potential
00:24:56Thank you
00:24:57Thank you
00:24:58Craig
00:24:59For me
00:25:01You looked like you were drunk and lost to the party
00:25:03I'm afraid
00:25:04Darling
00:25:05Every spin you weren't spotting
00:25:06It was very stiff
00:25:08There was no hip action because of that
00:25:10It was too upright
00:25:11And as Shana said
00:25:12Your weight was too far back
00:25:14You need to point your feet in lifts
00:25:17My darling
00:25:18If you're going to do them
00:25:19You don't want a clumpy foot
00:25:21But I have to say
00:25:22I loved the amount of energy you gave us
00:25:25And we can see the commitment there
00:25:27I've got a new nickname for Craig
00:25:31You want to hear it?
00:25:32Colonel Slanders
00:25:33That's good
00:25:35You like?
00:25:36I probably should have said that after we got the scores
00:25:38But anyway
00:25:39Why don't you go up
00:25:40Whisk on up those stairs
00:25:42To see Chris in the skybox
00:25:44And let's take a quick look back
00:25:46At Brittany's cha-cha-cha
00:25:48With Craig, her partner
00:25:50Bringing some sunshine
00:25:52To the floor of Dancing with the Stars
00:25:54Come on
00:26:00Well done to both of you
00:26:03Britt, can I ask you straight up
00:26:05Are you on Dancing with the Stars
00:26:07To work on your shyness issues?
00:26:09I am very shy
00:26:10Yes
00:26:11I don't like people looking at me
00:26:13I don't like to talk to people
00:26:15I'm looking forward to seeing Britt come out of her shell
00:26:17I'm really looking forward to it
00:26:18But you also
00:26:19I mean you are Hurricane Brittany
00:26:20We are learning that
00:26:22But also
00:26:22We're seeing
00:26:23You are quite hard on yourself
00:26:25Because that looks spectacular
00:26:26It was colour
00:26:27It was movement
00:26:28It was just happiness
00:26:29Yeah
00:26:29And you feel like you could have done better
00:26:31Oh, I'm very hard on myself
00:26:32Yeah
00:26:33And I know the judges will probably be hard too
00:26:35But
00:26:35It's tough when you know
00:26:37That you can do something better
00:26:38And you disappoint
00:26:39I don't want to disappoint Craig more than anything
00:26:41Which makes me emotional
00:26:42Because he's so good
00:26:43It's hard
00:26:45You put so much effort into it
00:26:46And then one little thing goes wrong
00:26:47Yeah
00:26:47But yeah, I'm very hard on myself
00:26:49But I don't think it's a bad thing
00:26:50There's a whole season
00:26:51Where a whole lot of things can go wrong
00:26:53That's what's exciting
00:26:54Let's see what the judges thought
00:26:55Ladies and gentlemen
00:26:56The judges have their scores
00:26:58Craig Revel Horwood
00:27:00Four
00:27:01Helen Ritchie
00:27:02Six
00:27:03Shana Burgess
00:27:05Five
00:27:06Mark Wilson
00:27:08Six
00:27:09Well there you go
00:27:12Score of 21
00:27:13That's a great start
00:27:14How do you feel?
00:27:15That's my lucky number
00:27:17That's my birthday
00:27:17So I'm hoping that that's like a sign
00:27:19That we can only go up
00:27:20Back to you Sonia
00:27:21Thank you Chris
00:27:23Still to come
00:27:23Olympic champ Susie O'Neill
00:27:25TV news broadcaster Michael Usher
00:27:28And beloved actor Rebecca Gibney
00:27:31But after the break
00:27:33Olympic boxer Harry Garfield
00:27:35And his partner Siobhan Fowler
00:27:37Take to the dance floor
00:27:38You don't want to miss this knockout performance
00:27:41That's next
00:27:42And this is Dancing with the Stars 2025
00:27:45Welcome back to Dancing with the Stars
00:28:03Now as an Olympic boxer
00:28:05Harry Garfield should float like a butterfly
00:28:08And sting like a bee
00:28:09Well he's hoping to pack a punch here tonight
00:28:12So let's see how he prepared
00:28:13For one of his biggest challenges yet
00:28:16I'm Harry Garcine
00:28:22And I'm a professional boxer
00:28:24I took out bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021
00:28:27I'm so stoked to get the opportunity to dance
00:28:30In Dancing with the Stars
00:28:32I am so excited to be partnered with Harry
00:28:34He has so much energy
00:28:36I think you're a showman
00:28:37And you'll turn it on
00:28:38Yeah?
00:28:39You're all in?
00:28:39I hope
00:28:40Are you ready?
00:28:43I'm so nervous
00:28:44No, don't be
00:28:45Harry is very much suited to the jive
00:28:47Because of the fast footwork
00:28:49And being light on your feet
00:28:50It has lots of kicks
00:28:51Okay
00:28:52Kicks and like jumping around
00:28:53Which I think will be good for you
00:28:55Yeah
00:28:55Dance and sport sort of plays hand in hand
00:29:00It's knowing where your body is
00:29:02And transferring the weight
00:29:04The movement
00:29:04The coordination
00:29:05It's an expression of story
00:29:07And that's all combat sport is
00:29:09You want to point
00:29:10So yes, we're going to point our toe
00:29:13We don't want floppy ankles
00:29:14Okay
00:29:15I'm teaching Harry to point his feet
00:29:17And have the straight legs
00:29:19Strong ankles
00:29:19That left one is so bad
00:29:24One of my feet is just like extremely average
00:29:27And it's like a droopy foot
00:29:28So I'm not getting full point or full extension
00:29:31That's better
00:29:32That's better, yeah
00:29:32Okay, you ready for some lifts?
00:29:35Nope
00:29:36So we have three lifts in this routine
00:29:38You're actually going to lift me up over your head
00:29:42And sit me on your shoulders
00:29:43But each lift there's kind of maybe like four or five parts to the lift
00:29:47You're just adding
00:29:49I was like
00:29:49Hey, there's more
00:29:50Make it more hard
00:29:50Let's go
00:29:51Why not?
00:29:51Yeah
00:29:52A little wheelbarrow race
00:29:56The beautiful thing about boxing is the fact that you can win 99% of the fight
00:30:02And you get caught with one shot
00:30:03And I think that's quite similar with dance
00:30:05You can get all the steps right
00:30:07And you muck up that lift
00:30:08But I think any high performer can get it done
00:30:13In moments of pressure
00:30:14And moments of stress
00:30:16Dancing the Jive
00:30:22Please welcome Harry Garside
00:30:24And his partner Siobhan Power
00:30:27Good girl and Miss Marley
00:30:41Sure like the ball
00:30:44Good girl and Miss Marley
00:30:48Sure like the ball
00:30:50When you're working and rolling
00:30:53I can hear mama call
00:30:56Hey
00:30:58I'm from the early, early morning
00:30:59To the early, early night
00:31:01When I call my smile
00:31:02I'm rocking
00:31:02And that was all so blue, white
00:31:04Good girl and Miss Marley
00:31:06Sure like the ball
00:31:09When you're rocking and rolling
00:31:11I can hear mama call
00:31:14Hey
00:31:15Hey
00:31:16Good girl, Miss Marlin
00:31:35You sure like the ball
00:31:38When you're rockin' and a-rollin'
00:31:41I can hear your mama call
00:31:46Harry Garside, everyone, and his gorgeous partner, Siobhan
00:32:02That was so good
00:32:04Did you enjoy it, Harry?
00:32:05It looked like you did
00:32:06Almost too much fun, honestly
00:32:07We almost didn't get any dancing done in training
00:32:10Because we just laugh
00:32:11Have the best time, honestly
00:32:13Screw boxing
00:32:14I saw you do that halfway through the routine
00:32:16It's too much fun
00:32:18I love it, I love it
00:32:20But we're so happy to get through that
00:32:21So thank you so much, Siobhan
00:32:23Trusting me with one of those lifts
00:32:25It's so intense
00:32:25This haircut, by the way, is everything
00:32:27Can you just give us a little side profile?
00:32:29Mark, what do you reckon?
00:32:30Maybe next time I get that
00:32:31You know?
00:32:32If I turn mine around, would it look
00:32:33No?
00:32:34Very similar
00:32:35Should we get the judge's comment?
00:32:39Shana
00:32:39Harry, that was so fun to watch
00:32:42You have the most amazing energy on a dancer
00:32:44And I can tell how much you love it
00:32:46And while it was a little bit wild
00:32:48And we need some refinement in there
00:32:50I still want more of it
00:32:52It made me want to get out there and dance with you
00:32:54So thank you for such an amazing performance for week one
00:32:56Thank you
00:32:58And on that note of refinement
00:33:01That's the name of the game for you, right?
00:33:03In this competition
00:33:04What I want to see from you is the details
00:33:06Everything has a beginning and an end point
00:33:09Moves don't just run in
00:33:10You've got to think of it as like a paragraph
00:33:12It's all just words unless you have grammar
00:33:14So find that grammar in your dancing
00:33:16Give me the full stops, the exclamation points
00:33:18Like give me some dynamics in there with that
00:33:20But well done you guys, it's so good
00:33:22Yeah, it's so good
00:33:22Mark
00:33:24Well, I want everyone to stand up
00:33:27Big round of applause
00:33:28Come on, stand up
00:33:28I want to see
00:33:32I want to see that lift again
00:33:35One more time
00:33:36Can you do that?
00:33:37Because it's amazing
00:33:38Ready?
00:33:39Here we go, come on
00:33:41Wow
00:33:45Fabulous
00:33:47The thing is
00:33:49You've just started dancing
00:33:50So sometimes you make it look too easy
00:33:53And you just breezed into that
00:33:55I just loved it
00:33:56You've got so much great energy
00:33:57And we can see you love it
00:33:59So I can't wait for next week
00:34:00Look out
00:34:01I think you really
00:34:01You laid down a gauntlet for this show
00:34:04I tell you
00:34:04Fabulous stuff
00:34:05Well done
00:34:05Thank you
00:34:06Thank you
00:34:06Great
00:34:08It lacked any real jive technique
00:34:11Sadly
00:34:12If you lot can't boo properly
00:34:15Then don't bother
00:34:16Honestly
00:34:16That was pathetic
00:34:18Very good
00:34:19Boo
00:34:20Better
00:34:23I thought it was actually really messy
00:34:26I felt like it was all over the shop
00:34:28It was unplaced
00:34:29And you were just going out there
00:34:30It was very flat footed as well
00:34:32But
00:34:33All that being said, my darling
00:34:35Your enthusiasm is absolutely infectious
00:34:39And your performance
00:34:41Thank you
00:34:42Thank you, Craig
00:34:44Helen
00:34:45Actually, you're very cute
00:34:47And actually
00:34:48I told you how he liked it
00:34:49So it was Trent
00:34:50And I forgot to say that
00:34:51I must be feeling sick
00:34:51I'll tell him
00:34:52I'll tell him for you, Helen
00:34:54Actually, it took you a little while to get going, Harry
00:34:56But once you did
00:34:57I thought you were pretty good
00:34:58So you're considered a lightweight boxer
00:35:00Is that right?
00:35:01Correct
00:35:01I think you might be the heavyweight in this competition
00:35:04Let's go
00:35:07Wow, that was all pretty good, wasn't it?
00:35:10I'm sorry
00:35:10I'm just standing up close to you now
00:35:11And I can see all your scars
00:35:13Hot
00:35:14Anyway
00:35:15Get up and see Chris
00:35:16Up in the skybox
00:35:18Let's take a look back
00:35:18Thank you
00:35:19At Harry's jive
00:35:21As he heads up the stairs
00:35:23And just pulling out all the stops
00:35:26With this fantastic routine
00:35:28Plenty of tricks and fast feet
00:35:30From Harry Garsai
00:35:31Wow
00:35:33Sonia's a scars girl
00:35:36Who knew?
00:35:37Look
00:35:37I like a lot of the audience members
00:35:39I had one eye on the dance
00:35:40And the other eye on the droopy foot
00:35:42How?
00:35:44Because I do have to ask you, Siobhan
00:35:45Sometimes, you know
00:35:46In a case of droopy foot
00:35:48It puts a lot of pressure
00:35:49On a dancing relationship
00:35:50Sometimes you blame yourself
00:35:52For the droopy foot
00:35:53Because there's nothing to be ashamed about
00:35:55That was not me
00:35:55That's all him, that foot
00:35:57But I think we cured it
00:35:58We did many, many kicks
00:36:00Like millions of kicks
00:36:01In the past few weeks
00:36:02So
00:36:02Sometimes not thinking about it
00:36:03Really helps, I find
00:36:04Because there's nothing to be ashamed about
00:36:06Not me
00:36:07That's all him, that foot
00:36:08Starting to get better
00:36:09You have come a long way
00:36:10Alright, let's see how that droopy foot scored with the judges
00:36:13The judges' scores are in
00:36:15Craig Revel Horwood
00:36:17Three
00:36:18Helen Ritchie
00:36:20Six
00:36:22At least a seven
00:36:29So good
00:36:34A score of 21
00:36:34There's a theme appearing here
00:36:36How do you feel about that, Fonz?
00:36:37You good?
00:36:38Yeah, I'm feeling good
00:36:39I'm feeling good with that
00:36:40So it's a good way to start
00:36:41But next week
00:36:41We're going to be way better
00:36:42Alright, with that score
00:36:43Let's have a look at the
00:36:44Half-time leaderboard
00:36:45And it is
00:36:48A streak of 21s
00:36:50Nothing to split them
00:36:52Back to you, Sonia
00:36:53No
00:36:53Do you know what, Chris?
00:36:54That has never happened before
00:36:56On Dancing with the Stars
00:36:57I have never seen that
00:36:58Have you, Helen?
00:36:59No, I don't think so
00:37:00Never seen it
00:37:00No
00:37:00I'm old, I can't remember
00:37:02It has been an amazing night, though, so far
00:37:06Don't go anywhere
00:37:06After the break
00:37:07None other than
00:37:08Madam Butterfly herself
00:37:10Susie O'Neill
00:37:11Logie Hall of Fame actor
00:37:13Rebecca Gibney
00:37:14And the new Reyes
00:37:16Of the newsroom
00:37:17Michael Archer
00:37:19Welcome back
00:37:37Tonight we are definitely
00:37:38In the presence of
00:37:39Olympic royalty
00:37:41Susie O'Neill
00:37:42Has won no less than
00:37:44Eight Olympic medals
00:37:45In her career
00:37:46But she thinks
00:37:47Dance training
00:37:48Is more grueling
00:37:49Than anything
00:37:50She's ever done before
00:37:51So let's see
00:37:52How she got on
00:37:53This week
00:37:54I'm Susie O'Neill
00:37:59And you best know me
00:38:00Probably as
00:38:00Madam Butterfly
00:38:01And a swimmer
00:38:02I've been to
00:38:03Three Olympics
00:38:03And won eight medals
00:38:05Two of them gold
00:38:06I'm really surprised
00:38:07That I said yes to this
00:38:08I don't know what happened
00:38:09I wouldn't say I'm a natural dancer
00:38:11Or have natural rhythm
00:38:12But I'm fit
00:38:12I'm coordinated
00:38:14What could go wrong
00:38:16I think it's a sign
00:38:18That we were partnered together
00:38:19Because I had a butterfly tattoo
00:38:21There you go
00:38:23When I first saw Liu
00:38:24Obviously he was very tall
00:38:26And handsome
00:38:26And tattooed
00:38:27And young
00:38:28And I thought he might walk in
00:38:29And say oh hi mum
00:38:30To me
00:38:31Because I felt really whole
00:38:34And next to you
00:38:35Have you danced before?
00:38:38Um
00:38:39Not really
00:38:40Not really
00:38:43I forgot in this dancing show
00:38:47That you're going to have
00:38:48To touch people
00:38:48And so
00:38:49We connect
00:38:51Right side to right side
00:38:52Just naturally
00:38:53Like here
00:38:54Yep
00:38:54So we'll always have
00:38:55This connection here
00:38:56Yeah
00:38:57It's really close
00:38:59And for the tango
00:39:00My boob was squashed
00:39:01Against his chest
00:39:02My leg is in between his legs
00:39:04You're probably not used
00:39:05To someone being so like
00:39:07In your personal space
00:39:08I've got a really
00:39:08Um usually a really big
00:39:10Personal space
00:39:10Yeah
00:39:11So that's really
00:39:11A lot of me
00:39:13Obviously she
00:39:15Was an amazing swimmer
00:39:16But that's doing it by yourself
00:39:18Dancing is two people
00:39:19And relax
00:39:20It's really confronting
00:39:25Did that give you some concern
00:39:27When I didn't even want to touch you?
00:39:29It actually did
00:39:29I was like ooh
00:39:31Might be a little bit more difficult
00:39:33Than I thought
00:39:33Step
00:39:35Yes
00:39:35Four
00:39:37Yeah
00:39:37This is certainly going to be a challenge
00:39:40Maybe even my biggest
00:39:41Physical challenge I've ever done
00:39:43Just stand up
00:39:43Stand how you are
00:39:44Mm-hmm
00:39:45Can I actually learn to dance?
00:39:47I really don't know the answer to that
00:39:49Dancing the tango
00:39:54Please welcome Susie O'Neill
00:39:57And her partner
00:39:58Liu Masuda
00:39:59You shout it out
00:40:10But I can't hear all what you said
00:40:15I'm talking loud
00:40:18Not seeing love
00:40:20I don't think that if I can focus on us
00:40:20pits
00:40:21I don't think that if I have come to mind
00:40:24I'm hurting my True
00:40:24I'm hurting my True
00:40:27reviewing and giving my True
00:40:28M repeal
00:40:36I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
00:40:44Fire away, fire away
00:40:48Ricochet, you take your aim
00:40:52Fire away, fire away
00:40:55You shoot me down, but I won't fall
00:40:59I am titanian
00:41:03You shoot me down, but I won't fall
00:41:07I am titanian
00:41:10I am titanian
00:41:33Susie O'Neill
00:41:34It's really harder than swimming
00:41:38That wouldn't happen in swimming?
00:41:41No, it's harder, harder
00:41:43Harder than swimming
00:41:44Because you've got to show your personality
00:41:46And in swimming you've got to hide your personality
00:41:49But Susie, when you were standing on the blocks, right?
00:41:52You were at the Olympics
00:41:54The nerves then must have been extraordinary
00:41:57How does this compare?
00:42:00It's pretty close
00:42:01It's pretty close
00:42:02And I always said after the Sydney Olympics
00:42:04I'll never feel that nervous again
00:42:06Guess what?
00:42:08It happened
00:42:08It happened
00:42:09But you know what?
00:42:10The audience, I don't know if you saw them
00:42:12All stand on their feet at the end of your performance
00:42:14Because I think Australia just loves you
00:42:17I'm really so happy that you're here on the show
00:42:24And I know Leo has a connection too
00:42:26Because Leo, your mother almost made the Olympic volleyball team, right?
00:42:29Yes, for Japan
00:42:30Wow
00:42:31For Seoul
00:42:31You're surrounded by these very strong women in your life, right?
00:42:35Yes, absolutely
00:42:36Yeah, alright
00:42:37Do you think we should check out what the judges have to say?
00:42:40No
00:42:40Should we just give Susie a gold medal?
00:42:44And be done with it?
00:42:45Yes, alright
00:42:46I like that idea too
00:42:48But we'd better talk to them
00:42:49Mark
00:42:50Wow, Susie
00:42:51The fact that you said yes to this is so brave
00:42:55I'm just so happy for you
00:42:56But for this sport
00:42:59As you become more confident in that
00:43:01That silver stripped down the centre of you
00:43:03It's the giving of that body
00:43:05To Leo when he dances you
00:43:07Is where you're going to find trust
00:43:10The trust will come
00:43:11There's lots of things that needed to be fixed
00:43:12But you've got the first one done
00:43:14Go you and thanks for saying yes
00:43:16Craig
00:43:20You better hope Australia love you darling
00:43:24Because that was ploddy
00:43:25It was stompy
00:43:26It was also pigeon-toed
00:43:28It was very heavy-footed
00:43:30The posture wasn't there
00:43:31It was hunched
00:43:33Oh dear
00:43:34I have to say this
00:43:37I do have to commend you my love
00:43:40For taking this challenge on
00:43:43Because it is going to be difficult for you
00:43:46Thank you Craig
00:43:50Helen
00:43:51Look Susie
00:43:53Nothing you do in this competition
00:43:55Will ever change what you have achieved
00:43:58In your life
00:43:59So that's how you have to see this
00:44:01And what people put into this show
00:44:05In five weeks rehearsal
00:44:07And then doing the show
00:44:09They are incredible
00:44:10All of you
00:44:11So just take that away with you
00:44:14And try and enjoy it
00:44:15You know
00:44:15It's something you've never done before
00:44:17And it is
00:44:18We haven't killed anybody yet
00:44:19Yet
00:44:21Thank you Helen
00:44:24Shana
00:44:24Often times when a contestant comes on this show
00:44:27It becomes about something bigger and deeper
00:44:29Than winning a mirror ball
00:44:31Your presence on this show
00:44:33Is inspiring so many people in Australia
00:44:35To do the thing that's hard
00:44:37To do the thing that's uncomfortable
00:44:39And in the process
00:44:41While you're showing people they can do anything
00:44:43You're going to learn how much you're capable of
00:44:46Because I really see something in you
00:44:48And while
00:44:49Okay
00:44:49It wasn't a perfect dance
00:44:51Yes there's a lot to work on
00:44:52But my God
00:44:53The improvement in you
00:44:55From that package to tonight
00:44:56Seeing you guys before your dance
00:44:59Together
00:45:00Holding each other
00:45:01The camaraderie
00:45:02The closeness
00:45:03It's cracking you wide open
00:45:05And giving you a different way
00:45:07Of living and existing
00:45:08And experiencing
00:45:09Other people in your space
00:45:11And that is what ballroom dancing does
00:45:13And I'm so excited for you
00:45:15To get to enjoy that
00:45:16And experience that with us
00:45:18So thank you so much for saying yes
00:45:20Thank you so much
00:45:20And on that note
00:45:26Susie why don't you head up to the Skybox
00:45:28Go and see Chris
00:45:29While we take a look back
00:45:30At your amazing routine
00:45:32Susie O'Neill
00:45:34Heads up the stairs
00:45:36To the Skybox
00:45:37But here she is
00:45:38With her tango performance
00:45:40And her partner
00:45:42Leah Rasuda
00:45:43Bringing all the strength
00:45:45Of her Olympic
00:45:46Level
00:45:47Fitness
00:45:48Come here
00:45:56Give me a hug
00:45:56Well done
00:45:58To both of you
00:45:59That was spectacular
00:46:00And first of all
00:46:01Do not worry about Craig
00:46:02Craig
00:46:03Little secret
00:46:04Always wanted to be
00:46:05Madam Butterfly
00:46:05But just couldn't be
00:46:07So it's going to carry
00:46:09That grudge for a while
00:46:09Unfortunately
00:46:10But I hope you felt
00:46:13Just how much
00:46:14Everyone was behind you
00:46:16And when you smiled
00:46:17During that dance
00:46:18It lit up the room
00:46:19Yeah I did really enjoy it actually
00:46:21I've got no idea
00:46:23It went so fast
00:46:24But I did enjoy
00:46:25The crowd cheering
00:46:26And I felt like
00:46:27I did enjoy it
00:46:28In parts
00:46:29I mean most of it
00:46:30Actually
00:46:31Compared to the training
00:46:33That was really
00:46:34Really fun actually
00:46:35I mean yeah
00:46:36Like the first day
00:46:37She came in
00:46:38She literally
00:46:39Looked so petrified
00:46:41She looked at me
00:46:42And she was like
00:46:43Instant regret
00:46:45Fear
00:46:45And she couldn't
00:46:48Even touch me
00:46:48Yeah
00:46:49Yeah
00:46:49And then now
00:46:50She's dancing
00:46:51An entire routine
00:46:52She can't get her hands off you
00:46:53To be honest
00:46:53Will you
00:46:54Alright it is now time
00:46:56For the judges
00:46:56Scores
00:46:57Will the judges
00:46:58Please reveal their scores
00:47:00Craig Revel Horwood

00:47:21Next time
00:47:21And I'm sure you will
00:47:22How do you feel about that?
00:47:23Yeah I'm happy
00:47:24It's the highest score
00:47:25Yeah I've ever got
00:47:26You're right
00:47:26It's a PB
00:47:27It is
00:47:27It's all up from here

00:47:30Thank you
00:47:30Well we're loving having you
00:47:31Back to you Sonia
00:47:32That's why we love Susie O'Neill

00:47:35Because this just in
00:47:36We've got one of Australia's
00:47:38Most respected
00:47:39News and current affairs
00:47:40Presenters
00:47:41Stepping out
00:47:42From behind the desk
00:47:43To create some headlines
00:47:45Of his own
00:47:46It's the delightful
00:47:47Michael Usher
00:47:48Stay with us
00:47:50This is
00:47:50Dancing with the Stars

00:48:07When I say
00:48:08Our next celebrity
00:48:09Has had this show
00:48:11On his wish list
00:48:12For quite some time
00:48:14Normally found behind
00:48:15A news desk
00:48:16Or reporting from
00:48:17Major global events
00:48:18Michael Usher
00:48:19Is now adding Dancer
00:48:21To his impressive CV
00:48:23So let's see
00:48:24How he got on
00:48:25In rehearsal
00:48:25I'm Michael Usher
00:48:28I'm a presenter
00:48:29For Seven News
00:48:30I host a program
00:48:31Called Spotlight
00:48:32And cover all sorts
00:48:33Of breaking news
00:48:34Good evening
00:48:35And thank you
00:48:35For joining us
00:48:36For this special
00:48:37Half hour edition
00:48:38Of Seven News
00:48:38I've been a TV reporter
00:48:40And a presenter now
00:48:40For 35 years
00:48:42Well from the air
00:48:43You get a very good sense
00:48:44Of just how atrocious
00:48:45These conditions are
00:48:47I think I've pretty much
00:48:48Seen it all
00:48:49I've been to war zones
00:48:51I've been to every corner
00:48:52Of Australia
00:48:53It might be time to show
00:48:54Maybe another side of me
00:48:55Just to get outside my lane
00:48:59Have a bit of fun
00:48:59My name is Natalie Lowe
00:49:02And I'm on my 18th season
00:49:04Of Dancing with the Stars
00:49:05And Strictly Come Dancing
00:49:06I'm genuinely nervous
00:49:08Thinking about
00:49:09The first dance
00:49:10On the dance floor
00:49:11Okay
00:49:12You dance like no one's watching
00:49:13You pretend nobody's there
00:49:15Except there's a full audience there
00:49:16And judges
00:49:17Who are giving you a score
00:49:18And all of Australia
00:49:19Yeah that really helped me a lot there
00:49:22Nat thank you
00:49:23So we're doing a fox trot
00:49:27And I have no idea
00:49:30What that means
00:49:32I might just take your hand
00:49:33On that one
00:49:33Just your hand
00:49:35Like that
00:49:35Like that
00:49:36Under there
00:49:36Yep
00:49:37It's a lot going on downstairs
00:49:39Toe, heel
00:49:40It needs a lot of power
00:49:42And control
00:49:43I come out of that pose there
00:49:44Upstairs
00:49:45Has to look very elegant
00:49:47And calm
00:49:48And then your belly
00:49:48Button
00:49:49I want it to go
00:49:50To the back
00:49:51It doesn't go any further
00:49:54Okay
00:49:57Shake out the nerves
00:49:58Are you nervous?
00:49:59Yes there's a lot of nerves
00:50:00I don't know what I'm doing
00:50:03I am so far out of my comfort zone
00:50:05It's not funny
00:50:06I thought I had more rhythm
00:50:07Than I actually do
00:50:09Michael is a real thinker
00:50:11I can see his brain going
00:50:12Hold, waft, arm, eight seconds
00:50:15And cuff and hand and move
00:50:18I am just going to have to follow her lead
00:50:22Although apparently
00:50:23I have to lead her
00:50:25Good
00:50:26That was your best one
00:50:28We'll work it out
00:50:29Well I'll just go and have a lie down
00:50:30On the floor now
00:50:31Please welcome to the floor
00:50:37Michael Asher
00:50:38And Natalie Lowe
00:50:39Dancing the Foxtrot
00:50:41The way you wear your hand
00:50:51The way you sing your tea
00:50:54The memory of all that
00:50:59No, no
00:51:02They can't take that away from me
00:51:04No
00:51:05No, they can't take that away
00:51:08From me
00:51:10From me
00:51:11The way you hold your night
00:51:30The way we dance till three
00:51:34The way you change my life
00:51:39Oh no
00:51:41They can't take that away from me
00:51:44No
00:51:45They can't take that away
00:51:48Won't take that away
00:51:52Ain't take that away from me
00:51:59Oh yeah, give it up and his beautiful partner Natalie Lowe
00:52:05Cheers to you my friend
00:52:20I'd like if it was a real drink
00:52:21Maybe later
00:52:24So proud
00:52:25Was that everything that you dreamed it would be?
00:52:29Look, yes, in the end
00:52:31That's taken a long time to get there
00:52:33But it was a dreamy dance
00:52:34And it was lovely
00:52:35And gosh, I've been nervous getting into this
00:52:38So I had to punch through some nerves there
00:52:40But so happy
00:52:41So thank you
00:52:42Well done
00:52:42I'm really, really proud of you
00:52:43Thank you
00:52:44Come so far
00:52:45So far
00:52:46Marcia, what is it
00:52:48Because I know you and I are friends
00:52:50So I know that you've been wanting to do this show for a while
00:52:52So tell the audience why
00:52:54I wanted to do this just to
00:52:56Everything I do is so serious
00:52:57And this was a great chance just to bust out
00:53:01Have a bit of fun
00:53:02Maybe show a different side to me
00:53:03But also just enjoy it
00:53:05You know, challenge yourself a little bit
00:53:07It's like learning a whole new language
00:53:09Or something new altogether
00:53:10Lifetime's over
00:53:11Lifetime's over
00:53:12So just the challenge
00:53:13It was a lovely experience
00:53:15And I said yes straight away in fact
00:53:16So many people have been asking me
00:53:18Oh, I can't wait to see Michael dance
00:53:19What did you guys think?
00:53:20Did you love it?
00:53:21Thank you
00:53:24Thank you
00:53:24Now you have been a reporter in war zones
00:53:28Are you ready to get strafed by Craig?
00:53:30Here we go
00:53:31The bombardment
00:53:31Not a euphemism
00:53:33Let's get the judges' comments
00:53:35Craig
00:53:35Finally some talent
00:53:39Well, it's not without fault
00:53:47You understand
00:53:48I mean your frame's complete and absolute rubbish
00:53:50And needs total improvement
00:53:52But my goodness
00:53:53You had flow
00:53:54You had musicality
00:53:56You had charisma, darling
00:53:59And presentation
00:54:00I loved it
00:54:02That's friendly fire
00:54:07That is friendly fire
00:54:09Shana

00:54:19Okay
00:54:20Craig needs to calm down
00:54:21It was a good frame
00:54:21We've got things we can tweak
00:54:23Pulling the elbows back a little bit
00:54:24Your heart up is lovely
00:54:26But your elbows are going forward
00:54:27Pull them back
00:54:28You had rise and fall
00:54:29Your footwork was pretty clean
00:54:31You had nice heel leads

00:54:34This was actually the stand out for me of the night so far
00:54:37Oh, thank you

00:55:20Well done
00:55:20How does that feel?
00:55:22Well, I'm overwhelmed
00:55:23No, thoroughly overwhelmed
00:55:24I'm very grateful
00:55:25Thank you very much
00:55:25Were you expecting comments like that?
00:55:26No, gosh, no
00:55:27No, in my mind
00:55:28I'm a terrible over-thinker
00:55:29I've been criticising myself like I've got no idea
00:55:31But Natalie's been so supportive and strong all the way
00:55:33And just always encouraging
00:55:35Well, it was beautiful
00:55:36We loved it
00:55:37Why don't you head on up to
00:55:38See Chris in the Skybox
00:55:40Thank you, thank you
00:55:40Thank you
00:55:41Well, we take a look back at Michael Usher's
00:55:43Gorgeous fox truck with Natalie Lowe
00:55:46Floating around that ballroom
00:55:49Like he's on assignment
00:55:50And he's nailing it
00:55:53That's for sure
00:55:53According to all of our judges
00:55:55Wow, come on over here
00:56:01What have we just witnessed?
00:56:03Thank you, partner
00:56:03I'm over
00:56:04What just happened?
00:56:05It was a dream
00:56:05Dream come true
00:56:06And you're dancing with a dream boat
00:56:08I know, yeah
00:56:09It was classic
00:56:10It was suave
00:56:11It was smooth
00:56:12Who would have thunk it, right?
00:56:13Well, we never see your legs
00:56:15When you're doing the news
00:56:16That's what's happening behind the desk
00:56:17He's got great legs
00:56:18Does he?
00:56:18Yes
00:56:19Really?
00:56:19No, there's another half to me down here
00:56:21And at work tonight, thankfully
00:56:22Natalie, as I said down there from the very beginning
00:56:25I mean, you have been extraordinary
00:56:26I had to one stage during the rehearsal
00:56:28She said, can you stop being a journalist?
00:56:31Stop asking questions and just listen for a while
00:56:33No, ask too many questions
00:56:34Listen to that advice
00:56:36But you're quite a combination
00:56:37A very complimentary combination
00:56:38And by what we've seen
00:56:40A real threat to the competition
00:56:41Let's see
00:56:42We've done fine for now
00:56:43And we're very thankful
00:56:44So thank you
00:56:44Very grateful
00:56:45You switched it all on at the right time
00:56:47It was brilliant
00:56:48Yeah, well done

00:57:14Literally
00:57:15You deserve it so much
00:57:16You were shaking for like three weeks in rehearsal
00:57:18I still am
00:57:19Goodness me
00:57:20Well, that was great
00:57:21Thank you
00:57:21Usher by name and by danceability
00:57:23By the looks of it
00:57:24The shirt will be getting torn off any day
00:57:26No, no, no
00:57:27That's these guys' jokes
00:57:28No, that's fine
00:57:29Thank you
00:57:29Back to you, Sonia
00:57:30It has been an amazing night though so far
00:57:33Don't go anywhere
00:57:33After the break
00:57:34We're going to catch up
00:57:35With Sean McAuliffe
00:57:36Osher Ginsberg
00:57:37And we have a very special performance
00:57:41From two of our professionals
00:57:43That's next right here
00:57:44On Dancing with the Stars 2025
00:57:47Don't take that away
00:57:49Take that away
00:57:51Where I'm here
00:57:56Welcome back
00:58:09Are you all enjoying the show so far?
00:58:12Oh, yeah
00:58:12I have no doubt
00:58:13But we are in for an exciting series this year
00:58:16Absolutely, Sonia
00:58:17Now, the first show
00:58:18It's always the most nerve-wracking
00:58:19Because, you know, all our couples
00:58:20Have to dance for the first time
00:58:22So hats off to everyone performing tonight
00:58:23It is the toughest gig in the business
00:58:25It certainly is
00:58:26And speaking of nerves
00:58:27I'm anxious to meet
00:58:28Some of our couples
00:58:29From next week's show
00:58:30And find out how they're feeling
00:58:32Ahead of their ballroom debut
00:58:34Look, they're over here
00:58:35All these shiny new celebrities
00:58:37Um, Sean
00:58:39We
00:58:40We
00:58:40Probably good
00:58:42Possibly, please
00:58:43Please, if you can gracefully
00:58:44Gracefully
00:58:45Get
00:58:45I mean, that is
00:58:47If that's a taste of what we have coming
00:58:50We are in for a fine
00:58:51It's great to be here
00:58:52Now, you told me before
00:58:55This is
00:58:55You feel like this is
00:58:56You feel like this is
00:58:58You've ever been in a studio
00:58:58Haven't you?
00:58:59No, it's quite
00:59:00It's quite a thrill
00:59:00Do you know what Sean said to me before?
00:59:03He said
00:59:03And you won a gold Loki for this, Sonia
00:59:06You're full of positive encouragement, aren't you?
00:59:10Yeah, yeah
00:59:10No, you're doing very well, though
00:59:11That's very nice of you, Sean
00:59:13Is it true?
00:59:14You told me earlier
00:59:15That you feel like this is the first time
00:59:17You've learnt anything since university
00:59:19Is that right?
00:59:19This is very true
00:59:20I mean, you're not seeing it tonight
00:59:21But next week, I will demonstrate things that I've learned
00:59:26And I reckon I'm going to win
00:59:30I think people agree
00:59:34They do
00:59:35Actually, I don't even know whether we need to show the rest of the season
00:59:38I reckon we could probably call it now
00:59:41Finish around episode two
00:59:42Sure
00:59:42Okay
00:59:43Yeah, you clambering over those seats was enough, I think
00:59:45Can you clamber back in there?
00:59:46I'll go back
00:59:47Yes, please
00:59:47Now, what about Osher?
00:59:50Should we talk to Osher?
00:59:51I think we should
00:59:52Osher, how does it feel to be on the other side of the microphone?
00:59:57Terrifying
00:59:58It's terrifying being here
00:59:59Is it weird not being in control?
01:00:01It's in no
01:00:02I thought so
01:00:02Yeah
01:00:02Good luck to all of you
01:00:05Now, Chris, in this series
01:00:07The audience is in for a treat
01:00:08With more special dance performances than we've ever seen before
01:00:12Not only from our professional dancers
01:00:14But also from some very special guest performers
01:00:18Including our judge, Sharna Burgess
01:00:21Oh yeah
01:00:22Look, if that's what's going on
01:00:26Well, maybe you might even see me out there
01:00:28Not a chance
01:00:29Okay, fair enough
01:00:30Look, Dancing with the Stars features many styles of ballroom dance
01:00:33And tonight we are thrilled to have two of our pro dancers
01:00:36Bring to life one of the most dynamic dancers of them all
01:00:40Ladies and gentlemen
01:00:41Please welcome to the floor
01:00:42Sri Ani Agate and Craig Monley
01:00:44To perform a Paso Doble
01:00:46When we first came here
01:00:51We were cold and we were clear
01:00:54With no colors in our skin
01:00:58To let this picture in
01:01:02Say my name
01:01:06And every color illuminates
01:01:10We are shining
01:01:12And we will never be afraid again
01:01:17Say my name
01:01:20And every color illuminates
01:01:25We are shining
01:01:27And we will never be afraid again
01:01:32Say my name
01:01:35And every color illuminates
01:01:40We are shining
01:01:42We are shining
01:01:45And we will never be afraid again
01:02:02Say my name
01:02:05And we will never be afraid again
01:02:09Say my name
01:02:13And we will never be afraid again
01:02:15Unbelievable, make some noise for Craig Monley and Sri Ani Agate
01:02:29How about that?
01:02:35That was spectacular
01:02:37Oh my goodness
01:02:38I haven't seen
01:02:39They are just exceptional
01:02:40Our professionals
01:02:41They really are
01:02:42Still to come
01:02:43Rebecca Gibney and Ian Waite
01:02:45Are our final couple for tonight
01:02:46We will see you after the break
01:02:47Rebecca Gibney and Ian Waite
01:02:51Welcome back to Dancing with the Stars
01:02:53Welcome back to Dancing with the Stars
01:03:06It is time now for our final couple of the evening
01:03:10Rebecca Gibney is not only one of Australia's finest actors
01:03:13But was last year inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame
01:03:17One of only four women to achieve that honour
01:03:21Tonight she's performing with the reigning Dancing with the Stars champion Ian Waite
01:03:27So let's see how they got on in training
01:03:29I am Rebecca Gibney and I am an actor
01:03:35You may know me from Packed to the Rafters playing Julie
01:03:40We came down here to have some fun
01:03:41And that's exactly what I'm going to do
01:03:42So I've won Logies

01:04:15I'm not
01:04:17It's back to back with Beck
01:04:19I am so far behind the eight ball because I am so unfit
01:04:28I mean at one point I went to bed
01:04:30And I woke up and I was 60
01:04:32So all of a sudden I've got flibbity gibbets under my arms
01:04:34And I've got muffin top
01:04:36And I get puffed going upstairs
01:04:39What have I signed up for?

01:04:53If you can turn me into a gazelle I'll give you a million bucks
01:04:57I don't have a million bucks
01:04:59One, two, three, four, one
01:05:05So what I forgot to mention is that I suffer terrible stage fright
01:05:09So another reason I'm doing this show is to get over that
01:05:12One, two, and three, four, and one
01:05:15Making mistakes in front of a live audience and judges is, it is, it's terrifying
01:05:21But you know, it's now or never
01:05:23If I don't do it now, I'm never going to do it
01:05:25And yeah, I'm going to give it my best shot
01:05:27Three, four, and one
01:05:29You're getting some speed in there, girl
01:05:38Oh my God
01:05:39Am I nervous?
01:05:41Are you insane?
01:05:41I'm terrified
01:05:43Dancing the cha-cha-cha
01:05:49Please welcome Rebecca Gibney
01:05:52And her partner, Ian Waite
01:05:54Doesn't take much to make me happy
01:06:07And make me smile with me
01:06:11Never, never will I feel discouraged
01:06:15Cause I lose no mystery
01:06:19I won't be
01:06:28I won't be
01:06:31I won't be
01:06:33I won't be
01:06:35I won't have
01:06:38Screaming up and dizzy
01:06:41Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, you got the best of my life.
01:06:58Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, you got the best of my life.
01:07:06I'll give it to the best of my world
01:07:11That was bloody brilliant.
01:07:21Well done.
01:07:23Yes, keep it going for Rebecca Gibney.
01:07:32Unbelievable.
01:07:33God, I love you so much.
01:07:36I really do.
01:07:37I can't speak.
01:07:38Well, let me just talk to Ian for a second.
01:07:39Could you button yourself up, please?
01:07:41Helen is trying to concentrate, Ian.
01:07:43Goodness sake, Bec, you actually revealed in your package
01:07:47that you suffer from terrible stage fright.
01:07:50And I think a lot of people at home would be quite shocked by that
01:07:53because you're such an accomplished actress.
01:07:56Yeah, I had to come up with a character beforehand
01:07:58because I'm like, this isn't me.
01:08:01Okay, who was your character?
01:08:03She was Valerie from Vegas.
01:08:06She does weddings.
01:08:07That's why I got the Elvis jacket on.
01:08:11Valerie needs her own show.
01:08:14I would watch Valerie.
01:08:17That is incredible.
01:08:18How was it?
01:08:19How did it feel tonight?
01:08:20Oh, look, amazing.
01:08:21I'm normally in bed by this time.
01:08:23Me too.
01:08:24But I've got this beautiful man who's just given me so much energy
01:08:28and so much love.
01:08:29I'm so lucky.
01:08:30He's all right today.
01:08:31He's amazing.
01:08:33No, no.
01:08:33It's been amazing to work with such a legend.
01:08:36And you are.
01:08:37And you're just a walking ray of sunshine.
01:08:41You really are.
01:08:42You really are.
01:08:43It's lovely.
01:08:44Yes.
01:08:45And we will keep you waiting no longer.
01:08:48Let's talk to the judges.
01:08:49Helen.
01:08:50Well, you just look like you're enjoying that far too much in Naughty Girl.
01:08:55And I've known Ian for a very long time.
01:08:57And he has that effect on people.
01:08:59He really does.
01:09:00He does.
01:09:00Yeah.
01:09:00He always gets the best out of his partners, without doubt.
01:09:04Look, I thought you have a lovely feel for music, actually.
01:09:07You have a nice feel for the rhythm.
01:09:10I just think you are too safe.
01:09:13Oh.
01:09:14You need to do it bigger and bolder.
01:09:17And you can do that.
01:09:17He said that to me.
01:09:18He said, because as an actor, it's all about subtlety.
01:09:22And Ian's often saying, go bigger, go bigger.
01:09:24I'm like, oh, I'm trying.
01:09:26Look, everybody in Australia loves you.
01:09:28Of course they do.
01:09:29But you've got to push yourself.
01:09:31Look, you're an actor, an actress, you know.
01:09:33You know how to do it.
01:09:34You just played a character just then.
01:09:36Okay.
01:09:37But I loved watching you.
01:09:38And I love you.
01:09:39You're gorgeous.
01:09:40Likewise.
01:09:41Thank you, Helen.
01:09:42Shana.
01:09:43Rebecca, I don't know if, like, you need to watch this back to know it.
01:09:47But you are such a hot mama on that dance floor.
01:09:50Like, whatever self-doubt you have should be obliterated the minute you watch this back.
01:09:56Because you owned it.
01:09:58And while you came out, you have beautiful lines.
01:10:00I could see the work you did on your cha-cha technique.
01:10:02You really have such an amazing charisma.
01:10:04The character you created is great.
01:10:06I love a good character in a dance.
01:10:07But I will say I agree.
01:10:09It was a little too safe.
01:10:10But I'm actually going to put that on you, Ian.
01:10:12I think you need to push her choreographically, despite her saying, no, no, no, I can't.
01:10:17Because believe me, she can.
01:10:19And you need to trust him because he's so great at what he does.
01:10:23And you know that.
01:10:23No, he's amazing.
01:10:24He'll never steer you wrong.
01:10:25So wherever he puts you, it's meant for you.
01:10:27So just trust that and go with it.
01:10:28Because you're capable of so much more than you know.
01:10:31And I really want to see that come out of you in this competition.
01:10:34Okay.
01:10:36Thank you, Shana.
01:10:37Mark.
01:10:38You said, I'm no Lisa McKeown.
01:10:42And you're completely right.
01:10:43You're not.
01:10:44No.
01:10:45You're Rebecca Gibney.
01:10:50And we actually want to see who you are.
01:10:53But there is no reason why you can't do very well and maybe win this competition if you believe more in yourself.
01:11:02Because it's not about being anyone else.
01:11:04It's about being who you are and who we already love.
01:11:08And use that dynamic and let him push you and let go of that negativity.
01:11:11If you feel that, it's not required because you are simply amazing.
01:11:16Thank you so much.
01:11:19Great comments.
01:11:20Amazing.
01:11:21Zach, are you ready?
01:11:22You ready, Zach?
01:11:25Craig.
01:11:26I thought the walks were very awkward.
01:11:29I thought it lacked hip action.
01:11:33And I felt you were dancing it too polite.
01:11:35Now, as a director and choreographer of musicals in the West End,
01:11:39as I would tell you as a director to think of this character as literally just taking three lines of speed
01:11:47and she comes on and she goes wild, you know,
01:11:51and get your acting shoulder behind that.
01:11:55I can see a lot of potential and I think you are one to watch.
01:11:59Oh, thank you.
01:12:01Thanks so much.
01:12:03Three lines of speed.
01:12:04Not one.
01:12:06Not one.
01:12:06Three lines.
01:12:07Three lines.
01:12:07Too over the edge, I was told.
01:12:09I can't believe we're having this conversation right now.
01:12:13Rebecca, overall, we just turned left.
01:12:17Anyway.
01:12:18So, how are you feeling after those comments?
01:12:20Amazing.
01:12:21I need all the help I can get.
01:12:23And they're all absolutely right.
01:12:24I do play it safe and I do tend to go,
01:12:26I know I can't do it, I can't do it.
01:12:27I've taken the I can't out of my vocabulary.
01:12:31Ian's like, you will do it.
01:12:32You will do it.
01:12:33You will do it.
01:12:33Because you are fabulous.
01:12:34Oh, thank you.
01:12:35And we love you.
01:12:35So, why don't you head on up there.
01:12:36Go and see Chris.
01:12:39While we take a look back at Rebecca Gibney dancing a cheeky cha-cha-cha,
01:12:45as her alter ego, Valerie, hits the floor away from the slot machines of Vegas.
01:12:55Find your way over here.
01:12:57Rebecca, Valerie from Vegas, whoever you really are.
01:13:00Why, honey?
01:13:01Oh, wow.
01:13:02Ain't you a cute one, huh?
01:13:04This is getting hot.
01:13:06How are you?
01:13:07You're happy.
01:13:07You're having fun.
01:13:09I'm having a ball.
01:13:10I mean, honestly, everyone's so supportive and wonderful.
01:13:13They're the dancers, the celebs.
01:13:14It's just incredible.
01:13:16It's a privilege.
01:13:17Yeah.
01:13:17And we've been talking about your stage fright.
01:13:19Yes.
01:13:19But we saw, well, we saw lifts.
01:13:21We saw yelling.
01:13:23Yeah.
01:13:23You put your butt and knee in space at one stage.
01:13:25I did.
01:13:26There's more to come, isn't there, Dave?
01:13:27Yeah, there is more to come.
01:13:28Yeah.
01:13:28Shall I quickly get the judges' scores, then?
01:13:30Good idea.
01:13:30Okay.
01:13:31The judges' scores are in.
01:13:34Craig Revel Horwood.
01:13:36Six.
01:13:37Helen Ritchie.
01:13:40Six.
01:13:41Shana Burgess.
01:13:43Six.
01:13:44Mark Wilson.
01:13:46Six.
01:13:47Wow.
01:13:48I'm so happy.
01:13:49There you go.
01:13:5224 points.
01:13:53I'm thrilled.
01:13:54I'm thrilled.
01:13:55You are delighted.
01:13:56I didn't get a two.
01:13:57I'm thrilled.
01:13:58It's worth yelling about.
01:13:59We love that.
01:13:59Let's have a look at the final leaderboard and see where you guys currently sit.
01:14:04All those scores added together.
01:14:05There you go.
01:14:06Nicely into second place.

01:15:22We are in for a wild ride this series.
01:15:24Oh, we are.
01:15:24We totally are.
01:15:25But before this group hit the dance floor again,
01:15:28we will be back next time with six shiny new celebrities
01:15:32ready to take their first spin in this famous ballroom.
01:15:36There they are over there all looking a little nervous.
01:15:39They've been sizing up the competition tonight.
01:15:41Yeah, I cannot wait.
01:15:43I'm sure they can.
01:15:44All right.
01:15:45The 2025 Battle of the Ballroom has begun.
01:15:49Make sure you join us next time.
01:15:51But until then, good night, Australia.
01:15:58I'm blown away.
01:16:00Couldn't believe it.
01:16:01We got an eight.
01:16:02That was great.

01:16:08It's done.
01:16:09I'm so thrilled.
01:16:10I'm so happy.
01:16:11You're just glad it's over.
01:16:12I'm just glad it's over.
01:16:19The comeback is better than the setback.
