00:00Hello, hi and welcome. Welcome to M&B Cube. First of all I want to show you a
00:14photograph of a 3D model. So I'll show you this filter here. Now it is this good
00:20inside blender but because I'm using it as a plane it looks different. So I'll explain to you in a
00:27moment. So the idea is to go to, it's for me, myself personally, to go to a website called DeepAI.
00:35DeepAI has got some fantastic images. They're created by an AI software. That's what it is, I think.
00:46Anyway, you just type in some random text, you know, say on a basement and that's what I put.
00:52I put a cellar actually, that's what I put. So I type the word in cellar and I've got this cellar.
00:58I think it looks pretty great. It looks great inside Red Bandali later on in the world. I think it's
01:05pretty good. Where can it link to? I can link this to almost anywhere, which is pretty great.
01:12But I think, unless I'm making a 2D game, I can't really use it. But I think actually I can,
01:18because I can use it like a reference photo, like that kind of way. So I think it's kind of great
01:24because if you've got an idea in your head, I'll think about anything. You can just go to the
01:28AOS site, type in some random text and see what you end up with. So I'm thinking, okay,
01:34what can I actually do with this? Let's put it in blender and I'll show you what you can do with this,
01:39just in case you're wondering and you want to do it yourself. But go here, when you put it into
01:43blender, you have to go here. Just go here, come down the menu. You say images as planes.
01:50If it's not turned on, if it's not turned on, by default, I'm using version 411. That's what I'm
01:57using at the moment. So I'll use version 3.6 and I use version 411. So for two different reasons,
02:04because some of the things in 3.6 do not actually in this version, just to let you know that. So anyway,
02:10to load the plane, you just go here, go to image. If it's not here, go here, edit, preferences,
02:19bring it into the screen so you can see. Up here, just type plane, just here look. It says import images
02:26as planes. Tick the box, go to the lines, press that, save preferences, make sure you tick the box,
02:34and save it. Once you do that, just go there, load image and then you'll ask you where the images,
02:42put it on there, go okay, it comes under the floor. Of course, when you first bring it in,
02:47it's down there somewhere. So all you have to do is snap it, snap it, snap it and snap it and it just snaps.
02:53Or zoom out and you can just snap it once. So I think, okay, what and what are you doing with it? Well,
02:58this is what I'm going to do with it. First of all, now when I do my how-to videos and how to create
03:03something, it makes a week. Now I understand the videos take long, sometimes they do, sometimes
03:08half an hour, sometimes an hour, sometimes about two hours, depending on the actual model. If I'm
03:13making like a human character, she could take up to about five hours. Honestly, truly, if you're not going
03:19to watch a video for five hours, you're really not. So I think, okay, I'll show you the process as I'm
03:23going through it. So what I've done to make a video kind of short and kind of sweet. First of all,
03:29I wanted to create this. You see that cupboard there? I think it would not look great as a doorway.
03:35So imagine this is a door and this cupboard is in front of that. So you can't see the door
03:41and the barrel is against the wall. You have to pull the barrel out, slide the cupboard across and you
03:46can go through the door. Probably, but there's a big massive bolt on it. If you look at the door.
03:53So if we zoom into this door, notice there's a big bar on it. I think, yeah, I think the only part
04:02at the moment I haven't made, I haven't made the door. I haven't made the door frame. And then after
04:08I make that, I need to make the brick wall to make it look nice and then just make this part of the room
04:13and then this part of the room and that's it and maybe the floor. So anyway, we'll talk about that part
04:19in a moment. Let's go again. So at the moment, this is what I've got for it to download if you want it.
04:26I'll bring in a shelving unit as you can see. It's absolutely perfect.
04:32As I just turn around for you, if you zoom in, look, it fits exactly onto the actual framework.
04:38I'll scale these down to MLB cubes once it's all made. So this entire room will be, this entire room,
04:45layout, it's going to be an MLB cube, just to let you know that. So, as I said, for now, if you want to take
04:52it and mess around with it and customize twist better shape it. So if you want to, you can do that.
04:56So I've made the cupboard. So as I said, I need to make the cupboard here, but I need to take the cupboard.
05:02I'll go here. Set the origin to geometry. I want the cupboard. I'll turn the snapping off.
05:10I want the cupboard to be able to slide to there. So the barrel is here. We have to move the barrel
05:18once we know we can move the ball. And then of course, we might be able to get Emma to slide the
05:24coming across. We think, oh, there's a door. Yeah, of course there is. But the bolt is, because it's all wet and damp,
05:31the bolt is seized up. There must be another alternative out of the room. If you look at the room,
05:38there are no alternatives. I'm thinking, actually they are. Because I always give you normally about
05:44three ways out of a place. So I look at one object and I see the kind of potential for it. Okay,
05:52so what we're going to do, we're going to add the barrels in. So these are the red barrels,
05:56there are the barrels. Of course, that's all the barrels for it. Now, don't forget, because I'm
06:02looking at a flat image. I'll just turn around. Because I'm looking at a flat image, I haven't put
06:08the barrels exactly where they are. Well, I have put that actually straight. So I'm imagining this floor
06:15is actually up here. It's not down there. So anyway, so if you look from the top view, this is roughly
06:21how long that room is there about. So I'm thinking, if you kind of scale it to the objects in the room,
06:28it's approximately this long. I think, yeah, yeah, you know what, I think that's going to work.
06:35Anyway, I personally think it looks great. So personally, of course, I've got to put a bit more
06:40detail on the cupboard and a bit more detail on the barrels, like put a little bead in round it,
06:46make a little top on it. Maybe you can open them. These are not them kind of barrels, but
06:52if you want to be able to do that, you can. It's okay. So what I want to do is turn that around,
06:57have another look. How about the barrels on this side? Yep, I've done those as well.
07:00So we put the base barrels in. There's the base barrels. I'm thinking, what, only one? There's not one
07:06there. There's five there. Look, there's four. I apologize. And the ones above them,
07:13we put them in there. So you'll notice if you've got these barrels and these barrels.
07:18So if the room was actually a 3D room, this is basically how it would look, more or less. Now,
07:26if you imagine, if I was to take them textures, not them textures, because really you can't use the
07:33textures, because it's not that you can't use them. It's just that they're way too dark for the barrels.
07:38So you want to put a different texture on it. Something that looks kind of old and scruffy,
07:44so it makes the barrels look old and scruffy. But you don't have to do that, of course.
07:48You can have more brand new if you want to. But as I said, this is the making of the seller room,
07:54if you're interested. So as I said, I'm doing the video. I'm trying to keep the content as short as
07:58possible. But I'm also trying to teach you, I'm trying to show you, and I'm trying to learn new
08:05things that we know that you might be able to do. And especially if you're kind of young and you want
08:09to be able to mess around with it, as I said, once you animate that cupboard from there to there,
08:13it's going to be great. Of course, we can't do that at the moment, because we haven't made the door frame.
08:19Now, to make the door frame, I'm going to kind of cheat. Now, what I would do normally,
08:25what I would do, this is how I would do it. I would hide the cabinet. And then what I would do,
08:32I can't do it in number four, but I can do it in number, version three, six. So what you can do,
08:38you see this target thing here, you can move the target like this, put it right on the corner of that.
08:46And then if you go into edit mode, it doesn't make a difference. If I go in there and go add,
08:51oh, it is in here, I apologize. So as I said, when I looked in the earlier one, it wasn't here.
08:58So if you want to get this on, the only thing I've done different, because I tell you, it's not
09:04actually in this version, but it actually is. So what you have to do to turn this on, and the only
09:08thing different I've done, as I said, you see what that is now, I can go here and I can add a single
09:13vertex. What it does, you put a little dot right there, and I can put another one there, and I'll
09:18put one here, one here, and I can draw the frame. But I'm thinking, I don't have to do that,
09:24because I've already made the cupboard. So what's the cupboard got to do with the door?
09:29If I delete all the shelves out of that, and keep the frame, I can just move the frame from here to
09:36here. And then when the cupboard goes over the door frame, of course, it's going to match the cupboard,
09:43because it is actually the cupboard. So I'm thinking, yeah, that's kind of cheating.
09:49Yeah, it is kind of cheating, but it's a good way of cheating. So anyway, I'm just showing you,
09:53of course, we've got to make the light on the ceiling. Now, the light on the ceiling is actually
09:57looking at it. I'll show you the proper version. I'll show you the actual structure.
10:02You actually look at the detail in this room. It's really, really, considering it's made by AI,
10:09it's really, really great. I like it. I really do. So yeah, as I said, we've got a little bit of a hatch
10:13up here. So maybe that's a way out. Maybe we can crawl on the barrels and crawl through the hole.
10:19Got the doors locked. Maybe there's a way of opening the door. Now there is, depending on the age of
10:25character, when he gets here. But of course, yeah. Anyway, that's for a different time, a different story.
10:32Of course, this way, it's all blocked off. You say, so let's say you're old and let's say you come
10:37here and they say, oh, I can jump over the barrels. Yeah, but so can the kid. But they're thinking,
10:42can they go this way? Yeah, you can't specifically go that way because it's blocked off. So yeah,
10:48you have to come back. So the way out of this room for a map where you're young is through the hatch.
10:54If you, if you manage, if you manage to climb on top of the barrels and through the hole, great.
11:01If you're not, you have to go back out the room. So we'll see you there. Anyway, what I was talking
11:05about is the light up here. If you actually look at the shape of the light, I think, now you can't
11:14see too much of it because of the glare of it. But I think, you know, I could just about make that out.
11:19I think, you see the actual shape of it, look? I think, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's going to be,
11:26that's going to be great in the game, look. It really is. As I said, that light is proper simple.
11:31So I'll show you. I'll just go and show you that quickly. So as I said, before I do this all three,
11:36I'll just show you. So if you're still watching the video, I appreciate it. So what you're going to do
11:40is just go here, come out of here, make sure you tick off everything because always,
11:45the blender's got a little habit of gleaming everything together. Go here. You want to
11:51make yourself a cylinder. Yeah, I'm going to leave it on 16. Actually, no, I'm not. I'm going to move
11:56that down to about 12. Because it's on the ceiling, you're not going to get that close to it. So
12:04move it over here. Actually, you know what? I don't want 12. I want 16. So I'll have 16,
12:11it looks a bit more like that. Go to scale. I've got the sun right on the screen. So
12:18you have to bear with me for a moment. So all that thing is on the ceiling. All it is basically,
12:24it's a cylinder, a really flat cylinder like that. And then what they've done according to that ceiling.
12:35Now I'll do quickly just to kind of show you and then I'll just get it down. You have to go into
12:40wireframe for this. Well, I'm going to wireframe to do this. Go here, edit mode. Make sure you see
12:46the dots. Click the dots. Of course, I'm going to make it smaller than that. So it's going to be
12:50skinnier than that. I want it roughly about a square point. That's what I want. So I want to kind of
12:56stretch, just stretch that to there. And I'll select these ones and I'll stretch that to right there.
13:02I'll re-stretch these ones. So all I'm doing is selecting it as I said. This is not how to do it. I'm just
13:06showing you the content. So bring this up. The light on the ceiling is basically as simple as this.
13:14So you go here, you scale it. You kind of put a little bit of a bevel on it. Not much of a bevel,
13:19just a little bit. Then you just extrude it one more. Then it behaves itself. I'm on the wrong one.
13:28You have to go to extrude. Extrude this one back out. Then go here, push it back in.
13:34That little kind of bevely. Do it one last time. And now this time, push it in on itself.
13:43Do that. Grab this as a wind wireframe and drag it back on itself.
13:49So it kind of sits like that. That's exactly how it sits on the ceiling. So what somebody's done,
13:58they've took a light. And they've stuck it right in the middle of that. And of course,
14:05what they've done on the side of here, you'll make another cylinder. And you'll put it on the side,
14:11and one on that side. So it's got like a pivot. So you can swing backwards and forwards.
14:16Not so it swings backwards and forwards. It's so you can tilt it, but basically up and down like that.
14:22Do you know what I mean? So you can actually kind of, yeah, so it's a bit like a pendulum,
14:26a bit like that. But anyway, that's the light. So I'm going to leave that there because I need it anyway.
14:32So I'll go here. Of course I need to scale it. So if I actually turn this around and look at the actual ceiling,
14:39if I take the light, I can bring it over to the ceiling. As you can see it's a bit. It's a little
14:44bit too big according to the photograph. It's probably perfect. But I'm going to scale it to the
14:50size of that and of course it's upside down anyway. Go here. Go here and rotate it.
14:59So just kind of rotate it or something like that. Thereabout. And then of course I'm going to go to
15:06scale. Of course this will be as big and small as I want it. So of course I want to scale it to the
15:11light itself, which is approximately about that size. And then of course if you actually look at
15:16the light. Don't look at this part. Look at the actual shadow. So if you look at the shadow,
15:21it's still too big. But I'm thinking, I'm not going to do any smaller than that. So when I look at it,
15:26I'm thinking where is it? Yeah. I could actually go smaller than that. It's too big. So I actually thought the
15:33one on the photograph was too small. But we go to scale and scale it again. So it's not quite exactly
15:43the perfect size as that. Now you see here look. All I have to do is bring it out a little bit,
15:49bring it out a little bit, bring it up, bring it up and then pull the base on it. And kind of hang
15:55it on the ceiling and then you can swing backwards and forwards. Drag this forward because that's
16:01approximately the height of the light. So as I say, if you use the photograph as reference,
16:08so we've got the light in here and of course now what we have to do to make the light look like a
16:13light, to make it look like that, all you have to do is if you go here, plane, add a plane in here.
16:20Go on, just turn this around. Move this down to background level. Yeah, bring it over here somewhere.
16:26Just so we've got some kind of reflection going on. So okay, so now don't forget it's got a brick wall here,
16:33it's got a brick wall here and one at the back. Of course don't forget I'm going to put the
16:36textures on this. So I'm just kind of giving you the know-how. As I said, I'm sharing the photographs
16:42because first of all I think they're really great photographs from the website called Deep AI.
16:49They're really great and of course all you have to do is type of text and it just makes it for you.
16:52I think it's perfect. That'd be great if you could do that with a model. You type in, you know,
16:57I want a chandelier with a lever. Yeah, that'd be great. That will save me a whole pile of work.
17:04It really will. But anyway, the light up there, I'll see the look. So I'm thinking, okay,
17:10what we need to do is go back in and edit the light.
17:15All I have to do is if I click on the light itself, go here. Now of course I haven't,
17:20I haven't allowed for the center pivot of that. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to press K on the
17:25keyboard. I'm going to get the knife tool. I'll work from here to here. I'll get the knife tool.
17:33Of course I want to do better than this because it's just kind of a rough sketch,
17:37just so I can find the center of the light. Now what I want to do is click that center dot
17:43right click, snap cursor to active. The cursor now jumps to there. See the cursor? The cursor's up there.
17:57So we're going to see if we can mimic the light, make it the same with the little glow on it and all
18:01that. So I think my graphic card is not great. So you know that. Okay, once you've done that,
18:06go here, objects, go to object, set our rigging to cursor. Once you've done that, go up here, add the light.
18:16And we can add a spotlight. Yeah, yeah, that looks like the light they've used. If you actually look at
18:23the reflection, it's very calmed down like that. So they have actually used the spotlight. That's what they've used.
18:28So I think if I go into this mode, take a look at my scenario. Can I see? As you can see, now you
18:39see the light color? Yeah, yeah, it looks kind of okay. And if you look at the light, the way I've made it,
18:46yeah, it kind of looks something like it. But I think, let me come back off that.
18:50I think, so we see both look at that. You see you've got three separate rays. So I'm thinking,
19:01how do you get the three separate rays? I'm thinking, okay, let's go back. Let's go back into here.
19:07So we're looking at it. We don't want, we don't really want a big circle on the roof. We don't want
19:11that. And we can always shrink this up so it does more of the roof, not just half and apart. But you're
19:17kind of getting the idea. So I'm thinking, okay, let's go into this one. The blue is what gives you
19:25the glow effect of the light. Go here. And then of course, make sure you turn the blue on and off.
19:33If you actually watch the light, watch. You can't really see because this light's in the wind. I'll show you.
19:40You see the shine on in the background? So we need to get the light. So let's go to the light.
19:46So turn the blue one. Go to your light. Increase this power about 60. Let's try that.
19:56Ah, now we're going like that. Now of course, if you look at my light, it's got, it does have a blue
20:02on it. I'll come back in here and turn it off. I'll show you. Look, if I hide the background,
20:08then we just hide this background. So this is how it looks at the moment, like this. So I'll hit the
20:14background. Now that's my graphic card. Ignore that. Turn on the blue. Now that's, that's nothing.
20:21All that is is my graphic card. That's what that is. Because you can't cope with it. It's too much for it.
20:26Just to let you know that. So I'm going to turn this back on for a moment. Because yeah, when you turn that on,
20:33you can kind of hide most of that look. Oh yeah, I don't know what that's about. So if you don't
20:38hide the background, I can't do it. But anyway, that's the blue. So when you actually look at the
20:44light yourself, you might do look at it. The actual photograph, go here. You just, you see the, yeah,
20:51you see the misty shade of it. That's what that is. It's blue. So if you're wondering how to make it look
20:57like that, just turn bloom on and it works. So anyway, it's up to you. But yeah, don't forget,
21:04if you export something, you've got bloom on it. So let's say now I turn the bloom on that. If I,
21:09if I were to do that, like that, of course, I would kind of set the light properly. So
21:14it's not right down there somewhere. So you want to click that. You see the light look. You want to
21:20expand it a little bit. So it does more of the room. Don't forget, I've got brick walls here. So
21:26obviously, so it wouldn't really, it'd probably go to about, maybe about there. Because don't forget,
21:33you're not going to see none of this because it's, yeah, because don't forget the audience of the room
21:37and it wouldn't be that bright in the first place. That's way too bright for the light.
21:42So go to the light. Let's whack this down to about 30.
21:47Do that. You're thinking, yep, it's a bit more softer on your eyeballs.
21:51Yeah, but still don't look a bit, a bit kind of, a bit right. So let's knock it down to about,
21:58um, let's try 20. Let's, let's try, what's that? So we're knocking down to about 20.
22:08Um, yeah, now 20 is not too bad because I don't want it too shiny. But I want to see the room,
22:14but I don't want too much light in there. So let's whack it down to about 7 watts. Ah, hang on.
22:20I like that even better. So I think, yeah, about 7 watts will do for that room. Because I want to keep it dark
22:27and creepy. I'm thinking, okay, I'm going to go in here. Now the mood's changing. I'm thinking, oh.
22:34So now it's entered the room, it's changing colour look. We can change it to any colour we want.
22:39It's entirely up to us. So I want to give it a kind of, like a little bit of a kind of a tingy,
22:44yeah, kind of a little bit of a tingy kind of colour to it. Something like that. Yeah, because you're
22:52entering a danger zone. Anyway, if you like the content, you like it. If you don't, you don't.
22:56Anyway, I'm going to say, these are my 3D models, all basically created in Blender.
23:04Forever B-Cube and they're all basically referenced from a website called Deep AI. So the Deep AI, I want to say,
23:12thank you very much for the website. It's great. It's free. So you can go on there.
23:20You can kind of generate the images. It's free. You can sign up for it. I haven't signed up for it yet.
23:25But you can sign up for it. But I'm spending a little bit of time inside the image part.
23:31That's what I'm doing. Apparently you can do videos and you can do AI chat. I don't know what they are yet.
23:36But anyway, go and have a look yourself if you want to. As I say, I'm not just giving you a photograph.
23:42The website itself gives you the photograph. I think that's great. Now, of course,
23:46if you find a texture for it, it'd be great. Of course, sometimes if something is pretty clear
23:52in the picture, you probably could use a texture of it if you wanted to. But the website says there's
23:59no copy restrictions on the photos. That's what I'm saying to you. But you know, you still want to
24:04credit the website because they still make the effort while the machine makes the effort.
24:09It gives you a nice fancy background. I think, yeah, perfect. So as I say, let me turn it off.
24:16Turn it all off now. Make it all look normal. Go back into standard mode.
24:20And now it just looks like that. There's a big difference, really, if you look at it from that
24:26point of view. So if you turn everything on, look, and then you go back into normal mode.
24:31It looks like that. It looks a bit better. Don't forget, now, if you add texture on that,
24:35you're not great. But of course, when you're in model mode, when I do model, I actually do model
24:43in this mode like this, so I can see how it looks genuinely. Don't worry about the barrels floating
24:48off the floor. I've got to make a cradle for it. But as I say, if you want the content,
24:53at the moment, let's get rid of the floor. What you're getting, the photograph is available
25:00under the video, if you want it. As I say, give all the thanks to DeepAI. Of course, I'll give you
25:07the whole setup like that. So this is one inch. So as I say, this is the cylinder. So I'm going to grab
25:12the cylinder, press control, press the cylinder. I'm going to go over here. I'm going to parent
25:18the object. I'm going to parent that to that. So this is the light. So actually, I'll put on there.
25:30Light. Just in case you're wondering what that is. So if you want the templates, click the link
25:38onto the video. And yeah, as I said, I'll give you the light anyway. And yeah, and then if you want it,
25:43you can have it. What you might have to do is just add the light bulb, the light to it. So basically,
25:50all you do is, if the light's not on it, just click on it. Go, just click on the model itself. Go here,
25:56go edit. Go click on the model, wherever it is. The model is there. Click the model, go edit.
26:04If you zoom into the model, zoom right into it. I was going to turn my camera around a little bit.
26:11Zoom right in, click points, click the point in the center, right click on it. Go to snap cursor to active.
26:18Once you've done that, come back out. Go here, set origin to cursor. Do that. Go here, pick whatever
26:26kind of light you want. As I said, I'm using the spotlight. And then of course, open the spotlight.
26:32Open the green bar. Change it if you want. If you want the exact same settings. Mine is set on 7. So
26:39the power of 7. If you set it the same way, you're going to end up with the same kind of scene as I've got.
26:50So it's up to you. As I said, however you want to do it. Anyway, as you say, thanks very much for watching
26:55the video. I really appreciate it. And I really hope that you like the content. As I said, keep an eye
27:00for model 2 of this room. Model 2 will have all of the room. And model 3, just so you know this. I'm
27:09going to make, I'll make, this is not kind of the base plate, basically. So this is model 1. It's
27:15exactly as I make it. So there's nothing on it. There's no fancy geometry. There's nothing on it.
27:21Okay. It's got the bare basics to make it look like what it is. And now part 2 will be all of this
27:27and the room. And it's like a standard template. And then part 3 is going to be my interpretation
27:35of the textures that are inside this room. So I'm going to go look at it in Blender. And I want to
27:40see if I can find some textures that come and look like these. Then I need to come back and apply it
27:45to the actual room and the barrels and the shelving unit. So anyway, I don't have no, I don't have any
27:52textures that look like that. I just don't have them. Anyway, I don't want to keep talking. Stay safe,
27:58keep it friendly, keep reading the text. See you soon. Download them under the video if you want them. See you soon. Bye.
