Chee-Hwa Tan is a Malaysian pianist, teacher and composer. She emigrated to the USA in 1984. 'Jester's Jig' ends a suite of seven dances, set at an imaginary royal court during a birthday celebration. All the dances are inspired by Baroque composers: Bach, Handel and Telemann. For 'Jester's Jig' Chee-Hwa Tan clearly had a particular piece in mind: the Gige that ends Bach's French Suite No. 5 in G.
