00:00Vex is, she's our goth girl. She is our darkest take on the playable Siren formula so far.
00:19We started, you know, from a visual angle just looking at her outfit, her initial presence.
00:25You'd meet her in an alley and then like, yeah, then you'd be, you were in trouble.
00:28Vex was the very first ball time that we had, that we had worked on. So a lot of her stuff
00:32was prototyping and figuring out what we can do, what we're able to do with, uh, with our
00:36engine and, and just testing the limits of, uh, you know, of our system. Her effects are
00:42very dark, brooding. We have deep purples, bright pinks, a lot of contrasting colors. She's
00:49dark, she's gothic, she's broody. So we wanted to get that menacing, smoky black feeling into
00:55the effects. Her action skills are so vibrant. So we wanted to make sure that, you know,
01:00with the darker aesthetic that we put the contrast in the right places, make sure that she stood
01:05out on the battlefield and especially with her action skills, being able to change her
01:09tattoo colors as well with her elements that it could work in any scenario. And you would
01:13have, you know, a pleasing design. For example, if I have a TDO weapon and it's a, it, it rolls a corrosive
01:21barrel or some type of corrosive element, then when Vex pops her, her action skill, that color
01:28change will be green. It'll, it'll reflect it at the element of the weapon and being able
01:32to see that, it's amazing. For Vex's tattoos, we wanted to, again, reflect, you know, a bit
01:38more of the, uh, kind of sharper side of the, you know, kind of siren ideology, you know, taking
01:43some of these more smooth and concentric, you know, uh, ribbons that, you know, are typically
01:47seen on the arms and adding some sharper, you know, claws and corners, this idea that, you know,
01:51even within that, like there are variations within, you know, how sirens express themselves
01:56and like when those powers manifest, it truly is a unique reminder of who they are as a person.
02:00Vex's silhouette flows out from her hairstyle to her jacket. Everything about her is sharp,
02:07angular design. We wanted to, you know, make sure that she felt like the tip of the spear,
02:12uh, coming at you in combat from her earrings to all of her poses, even
02:17her nails are super sharp, you know, we wanted her to feel like a dagger.
02:20There's, there's some small details that we put into her wings, which, uh, which came
02:24on later in development in order to kind of get, get the right look of those, but getting,
02:29getting those wings, those details are things that excite, but those things are like, when,
02:32when the artist put those in, or it was like, oh man, this is it, this, this is Vex. These
02:36are the effects that, that are going to make this Vault Hunter feel awesome.
02:40She's coming to take you away!
02:41It was development hell getting stuff to work, but I think in the end, it looks so fantastic.
02:47And just so amazing. I'm glad we were able to get it in and make it work the way it did,
02:51because it's just, it's like the chef's kiss to, uh, you know, to, to her action skills.
02:56And I think it works extremely well.
