00:00Thank you to the Cabinet Secretary. I did get a bit worried during that statement on timber and forestry because I could smell burning, but I've been reassured that it's a couple of toasted tea cakes that have caught fire in the kitchen and that all is resolved.
00:19The Senate season might be over, but I just couldn't stay away. We've got some of the best bits from our politicians over the last few months.
00:27We had some apparent fire risks and things also got a bit fiery a few times in the Senate this year.
00:32When discussing the UK government's investment in Welsh rail infrastructure, former First Minister Mark Drakeford got a bit miffed at Plaid Cymru leader Strenap Yordworth's interjection.
00:41Gone are the glory days of Mark Drakeford squaring off to former Tory leader Andrew R.T. Davies, but it's good to see that Mark Drakeford hasn't lost his step since stepping down as First Minister a year and a half ago.
00:52You know, the £350 million, let's be clear, I know you don't like good news, but let's make sure, I am telling you, I'm the finance minister here, would you like to listen to me?
01:03Because I can tell you.
01:04There'll be no discussions.
01:06I'll just tell you, the leader of Plaid Cymru is very bad at listening and very bad as well.
01:11I'll take an intervention.
01:12Intervention is very, very simple. The Chancellor said in her announcement that £455 billion was coming over 10 years. Those are her words.
01:19Yeah, and you can explain beyond that, too, until you don't make the same mistake as her.
01:24At times this afternoon.
01:26The leader of Plaid Cymru is very bad at listening and very bad at hectoring people from where he sits down.
01:32It's not an attractive trait, I can tell him that. Now then, of that money, of that money.
01:39It seems Srinath Yorworth was a bit of a thorn in the side of some Labour Senate members when he asked about what her next move would be about fair funding for Wales to the First Minister.
01:48Alina Edmorgan grows a little frustrated and instead highlights Wales' women at Euro 2025.
01:52You want to ask about my next move. I'll tell you what my next move is going to be.
01:57I'm going to be going out to watch the football on Saturday and I will be cheering the women of Wales on because I would like to take this opportunity to make sure that we as a chamber and as a Senate send our very best wishes to the women of Wales who've qualified historically for the first time to make their way to Switzerland.
02:20We will be cheering them on and it is essential, I think, that the nation gets behind them.
02:27Welsh Conservative leader Darren Miller made a bit of a blunder back in February when an important discussion and vote on the Welsh budget took place at the Senate.
02:35He was, in fact, nowhere to be seen. He'd opted to go for a breakfast across the pond.
02:40I must say it is remarkable that the leader of the Conservative group couldn't be here today of all days choosing a breakfast in America instead.
02:48They've clearly given up, even on being an opposition party.
02:52From taking weapons such as knives into Welsh schools.
02:56Well, thanks very much and it's good of him to join us this week.
