00:00Pete Alonzo, of course, got into the game.
00:03Now, he's had a lot of success, Scotty, at the All-Star Game and home run derbies.
00:07But this was the first time he actually homered in the game itself.
00:10He had a big three-run homer, part of building that 6-0 lead for the NL.
00:15He actually, Scotty, thought that was his biggest accomplishment ever in these All-Star Game festivities.
00:21That said, how was it to go deep in the actual game, in the sixth inning up?
00:24I mean, for me, I think that that beats any derby win.
00:28Like, that's really, really special for me.
00:31So, I'm stoked.
00:33Yeah, stoked to do that, stoked to perform the way I did today.
00:37Yeah, I mean, it was just an awesome and incredible experience.
00:40Why was that so special for you?
00:42It's just, like, I mean, the derby and stuff like that in that environment,
00:46it's just batting practice at the end of the day.
00:49And for me to do it in a competitive environment where someone's trying to get me out
00:53and not groove meatballs in there,
00:55I think for me it's really special to do that against,
00:59I mean, this is the, all the league's best are here, so it's really special.
01:02Yeah, I would just, you know, I think people would respect you more
01:05if you just came flat out and said it.
01:07You know, I won a million dollars twice.
01:09I mean, that's really special as far as I'm concerned.
01:15Hitting a home run in the game, he does that all the time.
01:17The best part of Alonzo at the All-Star game was on the red carpet.
01:21I don't know if you saw it or not,
01:23but they stopped him and interviewed him about his outfit,
01:25and his line was the greatest line ever.
01:27Somebody asked, what would your friends say if they could see you today
01:33that you grew up with as little kids playing Little League?
01:37And he said, they'd probably tell me how great I look.
01:43He had, like, a really expensive outfit, shoes, bling, sunglasses,
01:48and he's like, I look fantastic.
01:51They'd tell me how good I look.
01:53He also had, I think, the best line, and you sent it,
01:56but the audio was just really tough to play.
01:59On Monday at that media session that they had with everybody,
02:03didn't he also say that guys shouldn't be thrown out of games if there's a fight?
02:08Yeah, he wants to fight.
02:09If the bench is clear, he said, it should be like the NHL.
02:13Guys should be able to stay in the game and just knock each other out
02:17and go back to the dugout.
02:18I like this guy more every day, and the problem is he plays on those communist Mets.
02:24Right.
02:24He plays on the communist Mets.
02:26We will come back, and we will hear from the starting pitcher for the NL,
02:31Paul Skeens, who had a good first inning.
02:33What did he enjoy the most about the all-star festivities this year?
02:40He's so used to it.
02:42He's so, he is.
02:43He had two runs in the first inning, too.
02:45They got him two runs right out of the gate.
02:47Honestly, dude.
02:49Which is more runs than the Pirates have scored for a week.
02:51He's jinx.
02:52He's got the Black Cloud Diner hovering over him.
02:56He is jinx.
