00:00I always aim for a balanced meal for the kids. And don't we all because I have three kids.
00:05One is already a pilot in Australia. She's doing very well. She just finished college and she's 21 now.
00:13Yesterday she just had her spinning endorsement which is basically cutting off the engine of the airplane
00:20and really spinning 360 doing loops and stuff. But she's a tough girl.
00:24And so I always look back. Ano mong pinakaain ko dito sa anak kong to? Kailangan ma-replicate ko to.
00:30And I acknowledge that all our children are different. Yes. And you would know this. I also have three kids.
00:37Now Alonzo is part of the varsity of their basketball team. So it's so difficult for me.
00:42It's a new way of going about parenting and feeding him this time because first time, babae siya, si Callie.
00:49So she didn't eat as much and she needed other things.
00:52But for Alonzo, it had to be carbs, it had to be a lot of proteins, making sure that he's bulking up but also not too fat.
01:00He has to be lean. He has to be healthy. And sometimes, diba, we associate being fat to be healthy.
01:06They say, ay, umapayat yung bata so hindi siya healthy. Kailangan fat or chubby.
01:11Or diba, minsan, nahimahurt yung feelings mo as a mom.
01:15And so you think, what am I doing wrong? Or what should I be doing right?
01:20And for Ilio, it's more vegetables for me now because he's so chunky.
01:26Yan naman siya. Medyo chunky naman siya.
01:29And what I love about feeding Ilio is that a lot of different resources now for food, right?
01:35And a lot of availabilities for us.
01:37But I still keep thinking, am I feeding him right?
01:41Does that equate for something?
01:43And kahit magbusog na siya, iniisip ko, is what I'm feeding him really helping him grow?
01:50You know what, Dems? I can totally relate to that.
01:53Because, you know, my kids also are once upon a time picky eaters.
01:57And, you know, as a young mom then, I had to be very intentional in how I explain things to my kids.
02:06You know, as adults, we need to have that explaining.
02:09More so with children, we need to explain to them.
02:11We have to be creative in our storytelling.
02:14And with that creativity, I also learned how to hide those vegetables and those fruits
02:20para lang hindi na napansin.
02:22But also, I also involved them with preparing.
02:26And preparing for me meant, I have a small vegetable garden at home.
02:30And so, what I do is I ask them to help me grow those vegetables.
02:34And I ask them to harvest those vegetables with me.
02:37So, it became also like homeschooling.
02:40And, but as they got older, I realized, you know what?
02:44They're older now. They understand food.
02:46I need to be also firm.
02:48Whatever is prepared in the table, we eat that.
02:51That's a blessing.
02:53And, you know, everybody eats together.
02:55We don't become picky eaters here.
02:58We have to be thankful that there's food.
03:21We have to be thankful that there's food.
03:22We have to be thankful for.
