Loke: PM will announce appointment of CJ after consent from Malay Rulers

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will announce the appointment of the new Chief Justice of Malaya once the Conference of Rulers gives its consent, said Transport Minister and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.  Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday (July 15), Loke, who is the DAP secretary-general, was responding to questions about the party’s stance following a closed-door meeting between Anwar and Pakatan Harapan MPs on the matter.  He said the party’s main concern was the current vacancies in the judiciary's top ranks and noted that the Conference of Rulers is scheduled to meet from July 15 to 17.
