00:00We just got dropped off on this 2,000-year-old ancient temple.
00:04Oh, we're so high up.
00:05We're surrounded by jungle.
00:06See you later.
00:08Let's go see what we can find.
00:10In this video, we're going to be exploring dozens of ancient temples,
00:13all of which hide ancient Mayan secrets from the world deep underground.
00:18Everything you guys are seeing now, the Mayans didn't want us to see.
00:21Nobody gets to go where we're going,
00:23including exploring one of the seven wonders of the world.
00:26But we only have 100 hours to make discoveries.
00:29Dude, I'm discovering these stairs are huge.
00:31Yeah, I want to find an escalator.
00:33Let's go discover the secrets of the Mayans.
00:35This is the door to the inside of this massive Mayan temple.
00:39Oh, that's a deep tunnel.
00:40Dibs are going first.
00:42That's fine with me.
00:42There's booby traps.
00:43This temple is over 2,000 years old.
00:47This is insane.
00:48We're inside an ancient temple right now.
00:50Where are we going?
00:51Oh, my gosh.
00:52Oh, wow.
00:53The first thing you see in this temple is this giant statue,
00:57which is supposedly the corn god inside of a jaguar's mouth.
01:00This is so beautiful.
01:01My gosh.
01:02I'm going to tell you what I think this means,
01:04and you tell me what it means, okay?
01:05This is a hand.
01:07This is a parade.
01:08That's a toilet.
01:11Wrong.
01:11No, that is not his toilet.
01:14That is his earring.
01:15Yeah, Jimmy.
01:16Oh.
01:16So here's the thing.
01:17This place is actually a pyramid built on top of a pyramid.
01:20So the deeper we go in, the older things get.
01:23Be careful, boys.
01:23This is so sketchy, Jimmy.
01:25I can't believe the government's letting us do this.
01:26It really is crazy.
01:27Not even archaeologists are allowed to go back here.
01:30How deep underground are we?
01:31And after navigating this ginormous ancient temple,
01:34we finally made it to the end.
01:37Now that we're at the end, you said you had a surprise.
01:39Yes, this has been found in the last two decades.
01:42Oh.
01:43Whoa, what?
01:44This is a funerary mask.
01:45This is the face of one of the kings of the Snake Kingdom.
01:48The Mayans used masks like this one
01:51to shield those that have passed away from dangers
01:53on their journey to the underworld.
01:56Can I hold it?
01:56Yes.
01:57Wow.
01:57This was made over 1,000 years ago.
01:59Yes.
02:00Which means my great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents
02:03weren't even alive.
02:04Why is this not in a museum?
02:05Why is a YouTuber holding this?
02:06Get this away from me.
02:07Take it.
02:08Take it.
02:08Don't tell anybody.
02:10Okay.
02:10I totally won't show 200 million people.
02:13That's it for this temple,
02:14but we are in the middle of a giant city
02:16with multiple other ancient temples.
02:19And later in this video,
02:20even visiting the seventh wonder of the world.
02:23Let's find some treasure.
02:24This jungle is full of monkeys, snakes,
02:27and people have even died to jaguars here.
02:29Well, we survived Snake Island.
02:31Wait, no, we're here.
02:32Is that a monkey?
02:33Sir?
02:35Sir?
02:35Sir?
02:36Sir?
02:36Well, guys, this is where we're going to be camping tonight.
02:45Oh, look at these hammocks.
02:46We still have over a dozen temples to explore.
02:48I need you guys to get some good sleep
02:49because this video is just getting started.
02:51Good morning, boys.
02:56Morning.
02:57First things first, we need to explore the rest of this massive abandoned city.
03:01And looking at it now, it's hard to imagine what it might have looked like.
03:04And so I'll just show you.
03:05Over 100,000 people used to live in this city.
03:09That's what that used to look like.
03:10This is what they think these roads look like.
03:13There were temples everywhere.
03:14It was flourishing.
03:15But on the inside, you'd witness magnificent artwork like this.
03:20Oh, my God.
03:20Big area.
03:21Whoa.
03:22This is incredible.
03:23One of my favorite part of these videos is when we take old paintings and bring them to life.
03:27So this is our best estimation of what they represent.
03:29Bro, this is so cool.
03:30This is a rare glimpse into what the life of a Mayan looked like 2,500 years ago.
03:35This is amazing.
03:36No one really thought that was a llama.
03:37Can we talk about this for a while?
03:37You thought that was a llama?
03:38Because look, I thought that was the eye.
03:40That was the mouth.
03:41And I thought that was the lake.
03:42Yeah, I thought you were smart.
03:45And after I picked on Nolan, Nolan returned the favor to Tariq with the spider.
03:49Tariq, don't move.
03:49Stop.
03:50Wait, wait, wait.
03:50Oh, no.
03:53Tariq's going to quit.
03:54My friends have a strange way of having fun.
03:57But the Mayan way was arguably stranger.
03:59We're standing where a ball court used to exist over 2,000 years ago.
04:03This was the first ever team sport to use a ball.
04:06As far as we know.
04:07Also, the captain of the losing team's head got cut off.
04:10Yes.
04:12The Mayans are crazy, man.
04:17Whoa.
04:18This is huge.
04:19Yeah.
04:19So beautiful.
04:20Why don't we build temples like this today?
04:22Around 2,000 years ago, this is where the king and his queen lived.
04:26But 2,500 years ago, this is what it looked like.
04:30Massive crowds of people would gather here and even wait for hours just for a chance to see the king.
04:37And here it is today.
04:38Let's go check it out.
04:39Okay.
04:392,000 years ago, the king would probably stand here and watch sports from his palace.
04:45Kind of cool.
04:46Oh, my gosh.
04:47It's kind of like a labyrinth.
04:48Yes, because if you want to protect your king, you make it confusing.
04:52You make it confusing.
04:53Ernesto, be honest with you.
04:54Has anyone ever pressed this block in to see if it reveals hidden treasure?
04:58I will not do it.
05:01How about this one?
05:03How about this one?
05:04You're telling me the king didn't build a hidden treasure room 2,600 years ago?
05:08Maybe yes, but it's hidden.
05:10With the hopes of finding the king's treasure, we venture to a cave deep in the jungle where the treasure may lie.
05:16Hey, Jimmy did not say anything about bats, bro.
05:18Oh, my God.
05:19Yo, there's so many bats.
05:21They just flew right behind our heads.
05:22The Mayans, they used to think that this is the mouth of the monster of the earth.
05:26Look above us right now.
05:27We're surrounded by bats.
05:28Thousands of bats swerving us.
05:30Dude, it's a bat tornado.
05:31If there is a Mayan treasure there, it's under tons of...
05:34Bat poop.
05:34Bat poop.
05:35I feel like I've already found my treasure.
05:36This is beautiful.
05:37We're going to leave.
05:37There's a lot of bats.
05:38I would prefer if you go faster.
05:40Oh, I got food on!
05:41Oh!
05:44For me, this is a real treasure.
05:46There's absolutely no treasure here.
05:53But there's still one more temple that might have treasure.
05:56And because it's already dark out, boys, light your torches, and let's go on an adventure.
06:01Our torches go out before we get to an ancient temple.
06:03I'm going to be very sad.
06:05Temple.
06:06Temple.
06:06Temple.
06:07This is so much cooler with just torches.
06:10Let's see what this bad boy looks like.
06:12I feel like an ancient adventure.
06:14But as it turns out, all right, it's a dead end.
06:16This didn't go well, either.
06:17Everything's a dead end.
06:18Oh!
06:19Oh!
06:19Oh my god!
06:20What was that?
06:21There's like a monkey up there.
06:22Is that a monkey or a jaguar?
06:24Why is this video becoming scary all of a sudden?
06:26Make sure you sleep well tonight, because I have a big surprise for you in the morning.
06:29Let me guess.
06:30You guys thought the dozens of ancient temples in this city was the entire video.
06:34Yeah.
06:35Yeah.
06:35Send the helicopter back.
06:37Because to explore even further, we were going to need a lift.
06:40I'm climbing these stairs like a dog.
06:42We're almost there.
06:44There's our ride.
06:46We gotta go.
06:47Let's go explore some more temples.
06:50And where we're going has some of the craziest ancient remains ever built by mankind.
06:55And to kick off this location, we're going to visit this bad boy, which the Mayans used
07:00to call the gateway to the underworld.
07:02Back in the day, there used to be giant fangs here.
07:04What happened to them?
07:06They fell off.
07:07That seems logical.
07:08Let's go explore.
07:09Whoa.
07:10This is awesome.
07:11There's some very special features that I love.
07:13Like that structure in the middle.
07:15Wow.
07:15I'm going to guess this building was the temple.
07:17Was it for sacrifices?
07:19Yes.
07:19You guessed it.
07:19Yes!
07:20I got something right.
07:21What a nerd.
07:22I lost his hat.
07:22But what our guide really wanted to show us was a cave which Mayans believed humans emerged
07:28from.
07:28The Maya believed that humanity came from a cave.
07:31Deep inside of there is what they call the tree of life.
07:34And they believe that all of us spawned from this very majestic, beautiful tree deep in this
07:38cave.
07:38It's so sacred that we're going to do a ceremony to ask for permission to the spirits of the
07:42cave.
07:42If I was a betting man, I'd say the spirits are going to reject Nolan.
07:46As we entered the caves.
07:48Whoa.
07:48Okay.
07:49This definitely looks sacred.
07:51We were met with the ritual our guide spoke of.
07:53What is he doing now?
07:54He's purifying the entrance of the cave.
07:57And it's here where we would seek the approval of the gods.
08:00Naturally, I wasn't worried at all.
08:02But we're the gods really about to let Nolan enter this sacred place.
08:05I hope they accept me.
08:08I think it's good.
08:13Oh.
08:14What's he doing?
08:17Is he good?
08:20Come on.
08:21The spirits didn't reject him.
08:22Thank goodness.
08:23So, with the gods officially on our side, we started our journey for the tree of life.
08:27But the deeper into the cave we went, the hotter it got.
08:30Is it just me or is it only getting hotter in this cave?
08:32He's getting hotter and the air is going to be more difficult to breathe.
08:35More difficult to breathe, yeah.
08:36I'm so tired right now.
08:37The deeper you go in the cave, the thinner the air gets.
08:39I don't know if you can see the sweat.
08:41It's really hot here.
08:42This cave just keeps on going.
08:44But at least there's no bats.
08:45Everything you guys are seeing now, the Mayans didn't want us to see.
08:48They literally tried sealing this off.
08:50Imagine being a Maya 2,000 years ago, see this beautiful cave, and all of a sudden, see this
08:55beautiful room.
08:56Whoa.
08:57And the amazing tree.
08:58Oh.
08:59Am I the only one that thought the tree of life was an actual tree?
09:02Yes, this is it.
09:03This is the sacred saber that holds the sky.
09:05Are these pots around it the same pots the Mayans created?
09:08Yes, sir.
09:09On the tall ones, they put incense, and they burn it to get the attention of the gods.
09:13This is very cool.
09:15If you were a Mayan thousands of years ago and actually believe that this is where humans
09:19came from, I understand why they thought this was so sacred.
09:22Of course, of course.
09:23But this cave is about to get really dangerous, because where we're going next, we will literally
09:28need an oxygen tank to breathe.
09:30Why do I keep doing things in videos that could kill me?
09:35It is so fierce.
09:38So after a few deep breaths to top off on oxygen, how deep are we going?
09:43About two football fields.
09:44Yo, I'm going to stay up here.
09:46You're always backing out on it.
09:47He said there was no oxygen.
09:48I don't want to hear it.
09:49And Nolan may have been onto something, because at the literal first thing our guide wanted
09:53to show us.
09:54Oh, I'm dizzy.
09:56Are you good?
09:57No, I'm good.
09:58I'm good.
09:58Whether you like it or not, you're going to get some oxygen.
10:00Breathe.
10:02Anyways, what were you saying?
10:03Well, there's some ceramic pot shards.
10:06Whoa.
10:07This is so cool.
10:08Can I take one home?
10:10Well, I do.
10:10We'll go to jail.
10:11I would go to jail?
10:12Yes, sir.
10:12All right.
10:13I won't take one home.
10:15I can't believe they actually believe me.
10:17They're so cold.
10:19They're so cold.
10:20I'm kind of important to scare them.
10:21Look at all the bats in this tunnel.
10:24Let's continue.
10:25Wait, I actually, unironically, I don't know, do bats bite humans?
10:28I found a hiding spot.
10:30Oh, there's a bat.
10:31Jimmy, can you get a hit of this oxygen?
10:33So we're only getting deeper.
10:34Here, get you some.
10:35Air is getting thicker.
10:36But as we got closer to the end, we were confronted by the final boss of this secret tunnel.
10:41See those, uh, the stalactites?
10:45Jimmy, behind you is the biggest spider in the world.
10:47Oh, my God.
10:48What did the Mayans give the insects down here?
10:50Why do you think the world's largest spider is at the end of a secret tunnel in the most
10:55sacred place of the Mayans?
10:56It's protecting something.
10:57What do you think?
10:58I think so.
10:59So instead of fighting the final boss, we let the secret tunnel keep its secrets.
11:05Oh, my gosh.
11:07That was terrifying.
11:08I almost threw the oxygen tank right at your face.
11:10And after escaping with our lives, we were exhausted.
11:13So we headed to our new camp to turn in.
11:15Because not only were we going to need our energy for the seventh wonder of the world,
11:19but for day four, I wanted to know what the Mayans did for fun.
11:22Starting with the first ever team-based game to use a ball.
11:26Over 3,000 years ago, the Mayans invented the game of pits, where you score by shooting
11:30a ball through a small hoop, kind of like basketball.
11:33Only, you can't use your hands or your feet.
11:35But remember what we said all the way back in day two.
11:38The losing captain's head would get cut off.
11:41The head?
11:42Ah, this is hard.
11:48I'd say we're going to get the hang of it.
11:49And although we started to get a handle on the ball, it's safe to say we were still far
11:54from scoring.
11:55So I even brought in our camera guys to help out.
11:58But even then, failure after failure only brought us countless more failures.
12:06We might not ever score.
12:08But in ancient times, giving up meant literally losing your head.
12:12No one, you better stand up, bro.
12:13And so failure after failure continued until...
12:17And after a long day of this brutal sport, the surviving players might have celebrated
12:30by heading down a sinkhole for a relaxing dip in the natural pools.
12:33And while I'm not cutting any heads off, Nolan did lose at pits.
12:39Is the water cold?
12:40You know, it's kind of refreshing.
12:41Oh, is it?
12:41Yeah.
12:43Go for it.
12:45Woo!
12:47Ah, this water feels amazing.
12:49It doesn't look like you think it feels amazing.
12:51Oh, it's so cold.
12:52And although a swim in the cenote is refreshing, the craziest Mayan temple, a literal seventh
12:57wonder of the world, is still to come.
12:59But first, a classic Mayan dinner.
13:03So everything you're seeing here is what the Mayans used to eat over a thousand years ago.
13:07As you've heard throughout this video, they worship the corn god.
13:10And if you don't know, corn is a main ingredient in tortillas.
13:13Whoever's editing this, did the Mayans invent tacos, yes or no?
13:16To our final night, cheers.
13:19Enjoy the Mayan tacos.
13:21And to wrap up the night, we have a special Mayan dessert, the brand new Feastables peanut
13:26butter cups.
13:27Wait, brand new, but it's a Mayan dessert?
13:29Don't ask questions.
13:30It's dessert.
13:31Here you go.
13:31The king of marketing over here.
13:33Oh, look at how much peanut butter is in there.
13:34Isn't it sad that there are humans on this earth whose taste buds have not been blessed
13:38with the brand new Feastables peanut butter cups?
13:41So if you want an ethically sourced, amazing tasting snack, make sure you reach for Feastables.
13:45It's good.
13:46The only Mayan-approved snack on the planet.
13:48Before I go to sleep, I want to let you guys know that I'm giving away $500,000 to 10 random
13:54people that subscribe to the channel.
13:55No joke, my birthday is coming up.
13:56And to celebrate, 10 random people that subscribe to the channel will win $50,000 each.
14:01Thanks to Jack Links, the best beef jerky, for providing me with this awesome birthday
14:05present.
14:05And I'll see you guys at the seventh wonder of the world.
14:08And with the last remaining hours of our trip here, it's the moment you've all been waiting
14:12for.
14:13The seventh wonder of the world, the temple of Kukul Khan.
14:17Bro, this is so cool.
14:19I can't believe we're actually here.
14:21Kukul Khan is one of the seven wonders of the world, partially for its grand size.
14:25But weirdly enough, also for the way it sounds.
14:28The Mayans somehow constructed this in a way where if you clap in front of it, you hear
14:33what sounds like a laser coming back at you.
14:38All right, anyways, what we actually came here for.
14:41At the top of this pyramid is a temple so sacred to the locals that no one is allowed
14:46up there, which begs the question of what Mayan secrets lay in that ancient room.
14:51Out of respect for the culture and all the people who hold this very sacred, we are not
14:55going to touch the temple.
14:56Instead, we're going to fly this drone up to see what's in that secret room.
15:00You cool with this?
15:01Yeah, this is cool.
15:03Godspeed.
15:05Oh my gosh, this looks so majestic.
15:08I'm dying to know.
15:09All right, let's see what's in this room.
15:12Wait.
15:13Arthur, the room's empty.
15:15Well, 500 years ago, the Spanish came here and they take a lot of the stuffs inside.
15:22But before everything was sadly stolen, this is what historians believe the seventh wonder
15:26of the world looked like.
15:28I'm not going to lie.
15:29It's actually very beautiful.
15:31And while we didn't find any gold, I'm grateful that I could even visit these ancient monuments
15:35and share with you guys.
15:36Thank you so much.
15:38Guys, I love you, Mexico.
15:39It's been great.
15:40See you later.
15:40See you later.
