What it's like to donate plasma with the new rule changes

00:00After over 20 years, how does it feel to be able to finally give Plasma?

00:03Yeah, when I came in to register, I realised that I'd kind of dropped off the system,

00:09so it's been so long since I've been able to give blood,

00:11so I was able to re-register and become a new donor, even though I've given them before.

00:16But it's great to be able to give back like this, to be able to give Plasma,

00:20and the things that had stopped the queer community and sex workers, etc.,

00:26from being able to do that had actually started to change.

00:30So we can give Plasma now.

00:32Plasma's at the main centres, where we can give.

00:36We can't give at the mobile blood banks at this stage, but just at the main centres.

00:40So I would encourage anyone to come along and give Plasma.

00:44You can give every two weeks.

00:46But yeah, it just feels really good to be able to go back to what I used to always do

00:50prior to the changes of rules 20 or 30 years ago.
