Tonight, we will discuss the importance of education in our international societies. At the forefront is the Association of Philippine Schools Overseas (APSO), which was established in February 1995 and strengthened by Executive Order 252 in 2000. APSO supports Filipino culture, language, and values and represents 34 institutions that serve about 25,000 students worldwide. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), in partnership with the Department of Education, provides policy support to APSO and serves as the Secretariat for the Interagency Committee on Philippine Schools Overseas. The CFO helps shape policies for the formation, operation, and regulation of these schools.

This evening's guest is Dr. Noemi Francisco Formaran, who has been the vice principal of the senior high school at the Philippine School in Doha for 18 years and the president of APSO. Dr. Formaran, a prominent educator and leader, has vast expertise in education and community advocacy.
