00:00Sarah, congratulations! In Italy, Gigante means giant. I mean, do you feel giant after this amazing race?
00:07I just feel so grateful to my team. That was so special. We did the whole race so well together.
00:14I knew the whole team was 100% committed to the plan, and that was to get a spot on the podium on the GC,
00:20which now I think I've moved up onto the podium for GC. Obviously, it will be hard to defend that tomorrow,
00:25but we'll try, and then the stage win is just an extra bonus. We had no pressure coming in, really,
00:31after already having a great week on stage four, making it so good, but today was just so special to know
00:38everyone gave 100%, and I'm really just so happy and thankful for my teammates.
00:44What there was in your mind when you decided to attack Elisa at that moment?
00:49Yeah, I knew I felt really good. I saw on my garment there was a little flat section, and then it went steep again,
00:56and, yeah, I knew she was pretty tired after being out there a while, and I felt good, so I went for it,
01:02although I was dying a thousand deaths in the last kilometer because it was so steep.
01:06Looking at the GC, you are now in the third position. What do you think about it?
01:10Yeah, of course, that's really special. It's my first Giro. I did the Vuelta on the tour last year,
01:16and, yeah, I think I was in the teens in the Vuelta and then seventh in the tour,
01:21so if I can come home with third place this week, then I'd be very happy.
01:26Can we call it now, after the Giro, the Princess of Italian Mountains? Do you like it?
01:31The Princess, yeah, sure. Or the Queen.
01:34Thank you so much.
01:35Thank you, and thanks again to my team.
01:39Elisa, congratulations back in pink after an amazing performance in which you show us all your strength.
01:45How do you feel?
01:46Yeah, I feel overwhelmed at this moment. I really need to thank all my teammates today and the whole week.
01:53They were amazing. We did build this Giro together.
01:58We made the same path, the same training camps. We shared moments, the good ones and the bad ones,
02:04and I would like to give this jersey to them because it's ours.
02:11But we want to stay humble. We want to keep our feet on the ground,
02:15and there's still a very hard stage tomorrow, and, yeah, we will try to defend it till the blood.
02:21And another heartfelt thanks goes to Paolo Zlongo, my trainer, because he did believe it more than me and my husband Jacopo.
02:36Looking at today's race, no one, even Movistar, expected your attack at that time and in that way.
02:43It was planned. Can you tell me more about that?
02:46Well, we...
02:49Silvia and I just wanted to have control in the downhill, and apparently we went a bit too fast down.
02:55So we had a small gap and we were like, just ride it.
03:00I was telling Silvia, ride it, and then we see what the peloton has to do.
03:05If we start with one foot in front, it's always better.
03:09So we do the climb with 20 seconds, and then I saw that it was going up and up.
03:14So I just did my pace.
03:17Maybe I overdid it at the beginning and I paid it back in the last two, three k's.
03:22But yeah, sometimes you just have to dare and yeah, you have to, you just have to go.
03:31Looking at tomorrow, Marlene Roycer is 22 seconds behind you.
03:36I mean, another fight for the Maglia Rosa.
03:39I think we will see at the last stage what could be the plan.
03:42Well, we will, we will have to defend it and why not attack it?
03:49I want to tell you a fact that I think prove your strength and your ability to face different race and different stages.
03:56Because in the last two editions of the Giro, you have always been in the top ten, except for the stage four last year in Foligno.
04:03What do you think about it?
04:05Yeah, I don't know. I like to race in the front and I never underestimate the importance of a result.
04:14Because nowadays everyone is only looking at the victory.
04:19But I, I give a lot of, a lot of weight also to results.
04:24Being consistent means that you are a good athlete.
04:28And yeah, I like it.
04:30Thank you so much. Congratulations.
04:33Grazie.
04:34Tonya, congratulations at an host stage today.
04:36We know it will be the hardest climb of the Giro.
04:39How it went?
04:40Yeah, actually the stage was quite chaotic for me.
04:43I had a little crash and afterwards I also had a flat tire so I had to change my bike quite often.
04:49But yeah, the team always supported me and we managed to be in a good position in the climb.
04:54So yeah, happy with that.
04:56Looking at the Montanerone climb, have you ever tried it before? What do you think about?
05:01Not the first time I did this climb.
05:03It's a really nice climb.
05:04Like also the first 7k are quite flat and then it's getting steep and really hard.
05:09And I really like this climb.
05:11Looking at tomorrow's stage, it won't be such an easy conclusion of the Giro.
05:15So what do you think about it?
05:17Are you ready?
05:18Maybe after this tough race?
05:20Yeah, it's a super hard stage tomorrow.
05:22I think it was the course of the World Championships like some years ago.
05:26And I'm curious to race it because I didn't do the awards there.
05:29But I heard that it was super, super hard.
05:31So yeah, I'm really curious about what will happen there.
05:35And I think like you can really lose time there and have some, yeah, win some time.
05:40Yeah.
05:41So looking at the GC, do you think there will be any changes maybe tomorrow?
05:45Probably, yes.
05:46I mean, I'm not quite sure how it will be race.
05:49But yeah, for sure like something can happen there.
05:52But at the end, still in white.
05:54Yeah, like I'm getting used to this color.
05:57You're really nice with it.
05:58Yeah.
05:59Congratulations and thank you so much.
06:01Thanks.
06:02So congratulations back in Magliazzurra after the hardest climb of the Giro.
06:06How do you feel?
06:07Grazie.
06:08I feel very happy now, again with the jersey.
06:12Our objective was to get it today again.
06:16And I'm only with one point more than Sara Gigante.
06:20But she's so strong today.
06:22So I'm happy that she won.
06:25But tomorrow we have to fight again to get more points and to get Magliazzurra.
06:31Today was a very hard stage.
06:33Long climb in the final, but a lot of little climbs during the race.
06:39Five hours of race, so I'm really tired.
06:43I do a big effort to win the climbs, to get points.
06:47And then in the breakaway also we go very, very strong.
06:53So I'm very happy and all the team is very happy to get the Magliazzurra.
06:58But it was a very, very hard stage.
07:02And tomorrow is also a hard stage, but it's the last one.
07:07So we have to do all we can.
07:13I think that we can do good.
07:17Yeah, looking at tomorrow's stage, it won't be an easy conclusion of the Giro.
07:22The duel between you and Sara, it's only for one point.
07:25So do you think he could play an attack in this order?
07:29Yes, I think that now is third in the GC.
07:34But I think that tomorrow she can know maybe be in the breakaway, but try to get points in the climbs.
07:42It's true that the climbs are one third category climb and the other ones are four category climbs.
07:54There are not a lot of points, but there are a lot of climbs, little climbs.
07:59Like it's one circuit, so there are a lot of four category climbs.
08:04So maybe it could be one breakaway.
08:07It could be good to be there to get points.
08:11But I don't think that Sara will try to be in the breakaway because she is third in the GC.
08:17But yes, if there is no any breakaway, I think that she will try to get points.
08:23So let's see the fight.
08:27Looking at today's stage and the last climb of Monte Nerone, do you expect something hard like that?
08:34Or maybe something soft? Have you ever tried it before?
08:37I used to, sometimes I used to do the GC or I go full until the end.
08:46But today I started the climb full.
08:50So I go with one of my teammates, Alice, and I try to recover it for tomorrow.
08:56Because tomorrow will be a hard day.
08:59So yes, it was very hard.
09:01Now you need some rest.
09:03Going slowly, but also it was hard.
09:05So congratulations.
09:06And we will see you tomorrow.
09:08Grazie.
09:11Lorena, congratulations for keeping the jersey.
09:13We know today wasn't your kind of stage, your favorite kind of stage, but you still made it.
09:18How do you feel?
09:19Yeah, it was a super hard stage, especially for me, I think.
09:24And also the points for the red jersey were on the climb.
09:27So I needed to survive that climb.
09:30But luckily I could take some points and one more stage to go.
09:35Yeah, only one.
09:36And it won't be easy.
09:37It won't be tomorrow an easy conclusion of the Giro.
09:40What do you think about it?
09:41Yeah, it's again a hard stage.
09:43And I think everybody wants to be in the breakaway tomorrow.
09:48Yeah, it will be super hard, last stage.
09:52How are the legs after the climb of Montenerone?
09:55Have you ever tried it before or is this the first time for you?
09:58This is the first time for me.
10:00And yeah, I hope they recover enough for tomorrow, the legs.
10:05And no, I took it easy in the last climb, so that was better.
10:10Thank you so much and good luck for the recover.
