Google is preparing to offer steep discounts on cloud computing to the U.S. government in a deal expected to be finalized within weeks, according to Reuters. The move comes as Trump advances cost-cutting reforms across federal agencies. A senior General Services Administration official told the Financial Times that Google’s offer will likely mirror Oracle’s 75% discount on license-based software and its reduced cloud rates through November. Similar concessions from Microsoft and Amazon Web Services are also anticipated. In April, Google offered a 71% discount on its business apps to federal agencies, a deal projected to save up to $2 billion if fully adopted by the government.
