00:00Meanwhile, should the bones recovered by the PCG scuba divers from the bottom of Tala Lake prove to be human remains,
00:05subsequent DNA testing will either confirm or refute a match or otherwise of DNA samples from both the victims and from their immediate families.
00:14As our Luisa Irispe has more.
00:17The forensic examination and DNA testing on the retrieved bones by the Philippine Coast Guard or PCG,
00:23Department of Justice or DOJ, and PNPC-IDG yesterday is now ongoing.
00:28According to DOJ, first, they aim to verify whether the bones are actually human remains.
00:34And if confirmed within 24 to 48 hours, they will test its DNA with the DNA of the families of the missing Sabongeros.
00:42This will confirm if the bones are indeed related to the case.
00:46This will be subjected to a DNA test as mentioned already in our statement.
00:53The DNA matching is actually underway.
00:56Kumbaga, ang gagawin po natin, kukunan natin ng DNA samples sa mga kamag-anak ng mga nawawala at imamatch po natin yan sa mga DNA na makikita natin sa mga mahanap natin kung sakali.
01:12The DOJ did not explain in detail who will be doing the forensic examination.
01:16But the National Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that the sack containing the bones is now in custody of the scene of the crime cooperatives or SOCO.
01:25If the bones are confirmed to be of one of the missing cockfighters, the case will now shift to a murder case.
01:32And if not, this is another case to be investigated by the DOJ.
01:35The DOJ explained that the sacks containing the bones were found by the CIDG in the lakebed along the shore.
02:04And today, more sacks were found but are yet to be verified if they also contain human bones.
02:32There are two areas for the search and retrieval operations.
02:35And the DOJ said, aside from the information from Alias Totoy or Julie Patidongan, they acquired information from different sources as well.
02:44Dahil lumuto nga po itong si whistleblower, biglang nagsilabasan din dun sa local area.
02:53So we are relying not just on one claim but we are trying to corroborate it as much as possible.
03:02Luisa Erispe from the National TV for a new and better Philippines.
