00:00older adult center and we we've been doing this is number what number 25 and
00:0930 or 40 town halls we've done 25 we do specifically do our older adults instead
00:19of the town hall so folks can come out and ask questions I want to hear
00:26directly from you unfiltered you know just want what's on your mind and what's your thoughts
00:31and I just want us to just go back to January 1st 2021
00:37or 2022 when I was first elected we had COVID throughout the city
00:47gun violence was up we had the over proliferation of guns
00:53unemployment was up black and brown unemployment was four times the rates of white
00:58we were having mothers dying from
01:03pregnancy related to illnesses
01:08black women were four times the rates as white women to die from
01:13giving birth our children will not learn at the capacity that they deserve
01:17no one wanted to be on our subway system at COVID
01:22then 237,000 migrants and asylum seekers came into the city
01:27people were stopping me on the street and say Eric what are you doing to us
01:30I could not stop the buses from coming in it was against federal law
01:34I could not allow them to work a group of them came to me and said they want to
01:40remove graffiti clean streets they just want to do something
01:43the federal government said you can't do that either I had to feed housing clothes
01:48and educate 50,000 children and not one child or family slept on the street
01:53because we showed them with dignity and no matter how much we attempted to get
01:58assistance we didn't get any assistance but we did it anyway the hard way
02:02more jobs in New York in the history of the city
02:07more small businesses are operating in the history of the city
02:10the last six months we had the lowest number of shootings and homicides and a recorded history of the city
02:17recorded history of the city
02:20and I'm going to be real honest with you folks
02:26I have gone through some stuff in my days from growing up with learning disabilities to
02:33living on the verge of homelessness to having mommy
02:36worked three jobs to make sure she could make ends meet
02:40to being shot at when I was a
02:43sergeant in the police department
02:45I've gone through some stuff
02:48but the last 15 months
02:51have been the hardest 15 months of my entire life
02:55my entire life
02:57and there was moments you know
03:00during difficult times I used to always go and sit
03:03mommy used to have this little chair by the window
03:05and I would sit down and just talk to her
03:07because mommy has six kids and she loved them all
03:09but she loved and adored me
03:11I was a
03:12mommy transitioned when I was on the campaign trail
03:16and when the federal government came after me
03:21I didn't have mommy to talk to
03:23and let me tell you something
03:26some of you who are
03:27have children
03:29there were days I didn't want to get up out of bed
03:32but I had a city to run
03:35and I was committed to running this city
03:38and I would hear her voice
03:40say baby you get up
03:42you get up
03:44and I know some people would say
03:45well you know what if you didn't do anything wrong
03:47why did the federal government came after you
03:49ask Malcolm that
03:51ask Dr. King that
03:53ask the NAACP that
03:56go look and see what COINTELPRO was
03:58go look at the history
04:01of what happens
04:03when you have
04:05a black man that decides
04:07he's going to fight for what is right
04:08I was fighting for what was right
04:10in 100 blacks in law enforcement who care
04:12I was fighting for what was right
04:14when I came in his office
04:15and it was wrong
04:17what was happening to us
04:18and I look
04:19by President Biden
04:21I consider to be a friend
04:22I coined myself
04:23the Biden of Brooklyn
04:25but what his administration did
04:27to the city of New York
04:28was wrong
04:29and people say
04:31well you are now
04:32under the thumb
04:33of President Trump
04:35let's deal with the facts
04:36we took
04:38this administration
04:39to court
04:40more than any
04:42mayor
04:43in the entire country
04:44my job is to deliver
04:47for New York
04:48and when I disagree
04:49with the president
04:50I'm going to point out
04:52I disagree
04:52but when I needed him
04:54to bring back
04:55that 1400 union jobs
04:57in Sunset Park
04:59and I went to DC
05:00and explained to him
05:01this is a multi-billion dollar project
05:03he said
05:04let me look into it Eric
05:05and he uplifted the
05:07he uplifted the stop work order
05:09and those jobs
05:10are back in Sunset Park
05:11because of that
05:12that's what mayors
05:13are supposed to do
05:14we're supposed to go
05:16speak to president
05:17I'm the mayor
05:18of the biggest city
05:20in New York
05:21that's what I'm going to do
05:24and let me tell you
05:26something else
05:27that a lot of people
05:27don't realize
05:28go back and look
05:30at election day
05:31when I walked out
05:32of the polling place
05:34they put the camera
05:35in my face
05:35and they said
05:36who did you vote for
05:36I said VP Harris
05:38go find out
05:41who Madonna voted for
05:43wasn't VP Harris
05:48so he's asking everyone
05:51to surround
05:51the Democratic nominee
05:53who was the Democratic nominee
05:55for president
05:57VP Harris
05:59truth hurt
06:04but it set us free
06:05so we want to hear
06:09this amazing team
06:10that I have here
06:11that really did their job
06:15and will continue
06:16to do their job
06:17we want to hear
06:19from you
06:20ask your questions
06:21I'm going to answer it
06:24with the same level
06:25of candid conversation
06:26that I've always had
06:28and I'm in this race
06:30to the end
