'Stupid Gimmick': Darren Soto Warns Of Alligator Alcatraz's Vulnerability To Hurricanes

On Thursday, Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) was asked about the ICE detention facility dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz" in Florida's Everglades.

00:00Are you both planning on going to Alligator Alcatraz this weekend?

00:05I know I am, definitely.

00:07We were supposed to have a surprise visit.

00:09Apparently it got leaked to the government, so now they're inviting all of us.

00:14This was a stupid gimmick to put forward because it's ineffective.

00:19And so you're going to see ICE agents, our National Guard, and ICE detainees all put in danger.

00:27We're one hurricane, one major storm away from that whole place getting swept away.

00:31All so that they can make it overtly cruel.

00:35But it's not going to be a deterrent to anybody.

00:37All they're doing is, if people are thrilled about this thing, if they're buying t-shirts, if they're big,

00:43wearing hats that say Alligator Alcatraz, I ask, what happened to you that you have this hate in your heart?

00:49We went through this whole thing with Dozier's School of Boys years ago

00:54where black young men were sent up to the panhandle, many of them died.

00:58And we all atoned for that even though it happened before a lot of us were in office.

01:02And we thought that those dark chapters of Florida were gone.

01:06It's starting all over again.

01:08It's just a new target, undocumented.

01:10Ninety percent of them are undocumented Hispanic males.

01:13And we'll see black Caribbean folks also pulled up into that as well.

01:17And so we're facing the same old hate over again in a new form now.

01:23And Congressman Frost will be doing as well, as well as some of our legislators.

01:28that are of course prophets who are int 귀 mustard.

01:31So we're seeing a lot more of the story.

01:33Now they're going to consider the thing about it.

01:35You can't forget it much without surprise, Social equity.

01:37Now that's our Men challenge will be doing this before.

01:38That's our option to see the responsabil that it's a huge issue in the game.

01:41It might be a lot more tough.

01:42And so we're going to be using the pulverium in the Пред expose and the fire.
