00:05Really lovely to speak to Kenan Monfrancis this afternoon, Kenan.
00:08You are making your Minerva debut, your first time in Chichester with choir,
00:13which is in the Minerva from August the 2nd to the 30th.
00:17And obviously it hasn't started yet, but you're getting a good vibe
00:19from what it's going to be like in the Minerva, aren't you?
00:22What appeals about that space?
00:24Yeah, no, 100%.
00:26The intimacy of the theatre itself.
00:30Is, yeah, something I'm really, really looking forward to.
00:34As the audience are so close to us, we can feel their emotions.
00:39We can kind of see how they are taking in the play.
00:43And it's certainly such an appealing play, whether it's sad moments,
00:46but it's funny moments about the choir and people coming together.
00:49When you read it, considering a living room to audition,
00:53what made you want to be part of it?
00:55What appealed about this play?
00:57Yeah, the fact that it was very funny.
01:00It was, even though there are kind of sad moments in there,
01:05but it is very, very joyous.
01:08And yeah, I was laughing whilst I was reading it.
01:11And just the pace is brilliant.
01:14So yeah, that's what drew me to it.
01:16The difference between all of the characters.
01:19There's, yeah, such a, such a nice dynamic between all of them.
01:23And you are Freddie, for whom the choir is fundraising.
01:27Yes, yeah, yeah.
01:28So the story is that they are fundraising for my character to go to music college.
01:34And he's brought into the choir by my college teacher, Morgan,
01:39to basically kind of practice for a performance for the one show,
01:44which is to fundraise for his, for his college.
01:47And he's a good musician, but he's a nervous chap, isn't he?
01:49Exactly. Yeah, no, he is.
01:54He's a nervous chap when it comes to everyday life things and also performing.
01:58But I think that's why he's happy to go to this choir with Morgan,
02:04because she allows him to come out of his shell.
02:06That's his kind of safe space.
02:09And yeah.
02:10Fantastic.
02:11Well, it sounds a lovely play, a lovely prospect.
