00:00A Chilean company has found a new use for old tires.
00:03The company is called T-Fight, and it's converting the black carbon generated from recycled tires
00:08into a graphitic material that can be used in electric car batteries.
00:12T-Fight CEO Bernarda Diaz says, we solved two problems.
00:16One is the final disposal of tires, and the second is the demand that is being generated
00:19for electromobility materials.
00:21And when you obtain materials from other waste, you are generating what is known as the circular
00:25economy.
00:26The World Business Council for Sustainable Development says that hundreds of millions
00:30of so-called end-of-life tires are going to waste every year.
00:33T-Fight hopes to put such tires to use in electric vehicle parts.
00:36Sales of such vehicles have been rising, and the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction
00:40Act is designed to make them even more affordable and convenient for American drivers.
00:45So your car may soon be running on tires in more ways than one.
