Tragedy Girls (2017), directed by Tyler MacIntyre, is a dark comedy horror film that satirizes social media obsession and slasher tropes. The story follows best friends McKayla Hooper (Alexandra Shipp) and Sadie Cunningham (Brianna Hildebrand), two high school seniors who run a true-crime blog called “Tragedy Girls.”

Desperate for fame and online clout, they hatch a twisted plan: capture a real serial killer (Kevin Durand as Lowell) and commit their own string of murders to drive engagement and become viral sensations. As they eliminate their classmates and manipulate public opinion, their bond is tested by jealousy, rivalry, and romantic distractions.

Balancing gory kills with razor-sharp wit, Tragedy Girls cleverly skewers internet fame culture, high school drama, and the media’s obsession with violence. Its stylish visuals, deadpan humor, and strong performances make it a fresh entry in the teen slasher genre.

With shades of Scream and Heathers, the film gained cult status for its unique tone and satirical edge.
