00:00Quiet cutting, or perhaps more commonly referred to as a reassignment of duties,
00:05is basically another way of losing the job you were hired to do, but not your job entirely.
00:11The Wall Street Journal describes it as not being fired, but the job is gone,
00:16which many see as a waiting game. If a severance payment or unemployment benefits are too costly,
00:22quiet cutting has the potential to make an employee leave on their own
00:25if they feel stuck in a job they didn't want. Andy Challenger, senior vice president at an
00:31outplacement firm, says reassigning is definitely a huge part of the dynamic right now. Many workers
00:37are worried their reassignment may mean they will eventually be pushed out the door.
00:42The site provided data from financial research platform AlphaSense, claiming the mention of
00:47reassignment terms have been more than tripled during company earnings calls between last August
00:53and this month. If you think this is you, recruiting manager Bonnie Dilber says,
00:58I would probably start exploring options and putting out feelers just in case.
