00:00This was the real-life Ninja Turtles.
00:02During the 1960s in Pleasant Park, Vermont,
00:05there was a secret laboratory built underneath the town's public library
00:08where they were testing a new remedy on animals.
00:11It was highly illegal and not approved by the government whatsoever.
00:15The remedy they were creating was meant to help extend the lives of people's pets
00:19by almost double if they consumed the remedy daily.
00:23But after months of trying, they had no success until it was used on a turtle.
00:27The only problem was that it made the turtles act human-like,
00:30and eventually they started to act out.
00:33One night while the laboratory was closed,
00:36the turtles broke out and got loose into the town and started breaking into homes.
00:40Over 25 people were injured by the turtles,
00:43but by the morning time, three out of the four turtles were caught.
00:47The laboratory was eventually exposed to the public,
00:50and everyone involved was charged in some way.
00:53But over the following years, locals in the area
00:55claimed to have seen the missing turtle
00:57and stated that he was over 7 feet tall and almost human-like.
01:01This is the only known photo of the turtle to this day.
