00:00Clean-up is underway along Taiwan's west coast, after Typhoon Danaz swept through the region.
00:08It's strong winds and heavy rain killing two people and injuring over 650,
00:13blowing down trees and road signs, and cutting off power to over 700,000 households.
00:19Taiwan's main electricity provider says it's been working to restore power,
00:23but around 180,000 homes are still in the dark.
00:30The typhoon also caused an estimated $8 million in agricultural damage, with cleanup just beginning.
00:52In Zhanghua, onion farmers said their crops had been ruined by the rain,
00:55and in Yunlin, corn stalks were blown over.
01:00The hardest-hit crop was pomelos, swept off their trees by large gusts of wind.
01:14In some areas, 80 to 90 percent were ruined.
01:18President Lai Qingde is expected to inspect the damage this afternoon,
01:22and the army was dispatched to help with cleanup efforts.
01:24Taiwan's military has also helped with evacuating people from Taiwan's outlying islands,
01:30where thousands of people had been stranded after the typhoon grounded flights.
01:35They arranged planes to transport over 500 people out of Taiwan's Dinmen Islands near China,
01:40but many others are still waiting on standby for flights.
01:44Taiwan is now clear of Typhoon Danaz, but the damage it's caused remains,
01:49affecting people's lives and livelihoods with a tough cleanup ahead.
