00:01It's lights out and away we go! Hamilton then gets away well, Verstappen off the line well,

00:06and he's already wheel-to-wheel with Valtteri Bottas, and there is Alex Albon on the inside of Bottas as well,

00:11and Perez coming up on the inside of Verstappen, who is now in second place.

00:15Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, then Albon and Ricciardo.

00:18Bottas has lost four places already as they file their way through, and Lance Stroll going off the track already,

00:24and that is that damage for Lando Norris, that's certainly damage, and a big fire there!

00:28As they exited out of turn three, and that looks very nasty indeed, and unsurprisingly,

00:33that is a red flag that has been put out by race control already.

00:38That was horrendous as the car went into the barrier.

00:42Just at the bottom of your screen, Lance Stroll goes wide. Now this is after turn three,

00:48and you see Grosjean, one car out there, and then Grosjean to the right-hand side,

00:52just going straight. I got it. The car broke in half.

00:55No wonder the fuel came out of it. Yeah.

00:58I said the fuel was in the middle of the car, and it's literally...

01:02That's extraordinary.

01:04The car?

01:05It's gone through the barrier, you see. The car's gone through the barrier,

01:08and that's then been sort of used as a wrench, as it were, to literally rip the car in half.

01:15And there we can see Roman. So Roman's getting himself...

01:18Yeah, he was in the flames for a long time, wasn't he?

01:20Absolutely. Getting himself out.

01:22Jumping as fast as he can over the barrier. There were three people on the other side of the barrier

01:28who have all had a bit of a lucky escape, I think, there.

01:31That's... that's a miracle.

01:33I have not seen a car like that in my time commentating on Formula One.

01:38I've never seen a Formula One car do that, and that's brilliant.

01:41A round of applause as these images are being shown in the pit lane.

01:47Lights out, and away we go. And for the second time, Hamilton gets away well.

01:52And for the second time, the guy in third has made a very good start.

01:55This time it's Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen on the inside has Perez for company.

01:59Verstappen slips past the racing point.

02:02Valtteri Bottas will now put Perez under pressure.

02:04Alex Albon ahead of Lando Norris, who started well.

02:06Daniel Ricciardo has dropped back just a little bit.

02:09He's lost quite a few places, actually, as now on the inside,

02:12Valtteri Bottas has a look at Sergio Perez, thinks better of it.

02:15Albon now round the outside of the Mercedes as Hamilton leads them down the hill.

02:19Ahead of Max Verstappen, then comes Perez, and Bottas gets past Alex Albon.

02:23Behind Alex Albon comes Lando Norris, Esteban Ocon.

02:26Pierre Gasly's just been overtaking by Charles Leclerc.

02:28Daniel Ricciardo is tenth.

02:30Yeah, it didn't work out well for Ricciardo.

02:32Albon fancied a run around the outside of the Mercedes.

02:36Bottas was having none of it, but we have got an incident at the back there in turn eight.

02:41We've got a spinner, and Lance Stroll I think is involved, and now we've got a safety car.

02:46So Lance was a little bit under pressure there from Sainz.

02:50He's turned in.

02:51Turned in, and then crunches.

02:54Well, Dr. Ian Roberts, what a busy man he has been in the opening stages of this Bahrain Grand Prix on hand,

03:00and the fire extinguishers just keeping those parts that are overheating a little bit cooler.

03:06Valtteri Bottas has got a puncture.

03:09Yeah, they've just been on the radio, and they've told Louis Bottas is coming in.

03:12He's got a puncture. They've told him to stay as close.

03:14Obviously, the car's in front, but I don't know where he's picked that up.

03:17Lewis Hamilton then leads them over the line to start lap nine.

03:20Max Verstappen looking in his mirrors to see where Sergio Perez is.

03:23Alex Albon looking to see where Lando Norris is as well.

03:26And there's Charles Leclerc down the inside of Esteban Ocon into turn one.

03:30The Ferrari pushes the Renault wide, but Ocon is having none of that, gets out his oversized elbows and reclaims that place.

03:38They're now going wheel to wheel towards turn four.

03:41That's Kriat and that's Leclerc and Gasly, I should say, almost swapping places into turn four.

03:47Hamilton leads them down the hill from Verstappen, from Perez, then comes Albon Norris, and Ocon still ahead of Leclerc.

03:53Maybe he's just got it in a horrible zone with the weight of the car, the tire pressures.

03:57Oh, this is going to be good. Carlos Sainz down the inside of Charles Leclerc.

04:01How about that at high speed into turn one? The McLaren is past the Ferrari.

04:06Oh, and Carlos Sainz moves up into seventh place.

04:09And there's a little marker for next year when they're teammates.

04:14It's so close in terms of points in the championship, and it's giving us some great entertainment.

04:18It's down the inside goes Pierre Gasly on Charles Leclerc.

04:22And that Ferrari might start to be struggling on its tires somewhat.

04:27It does tend to overwork its tires a little bit, and maybe they're getting a bit hot here in the desert.

04:32Daniel Kriat, Martin, has got a penalty.

04:35Yeah, the students have decided it was his fault, all his fault.

04:39Here comes Carlos Sainz on this, the man Ocon down the main straight.

04:43Ocon moves to the inside to try and cover it.

04:45Carlos Sainz just says, I'll break a bit later, I think.

04:48Go around the outside, pinch the inside line for turn two.

04:51I'm going to get past you. Ocon tried to make it hard, and Carlos Sainz was having none of it.

04:56No team orders here. Ricciardo's going to go for it, though.

05:00Ocon moves to the inside once again to try and defend.

05:03Defends quite nicely. He got very punchy earlier in the race against Charles Leclerc, did Esteban Ocon.

05:09That was brilliant to see. Now, though, he's under pressure once again.

05:12DRS assisted. Daniel Ricciardo's coming at him into turn four and manages to move past his teammate.

05:18Was that smoke? Is that Sergio Perez?

05:22Perez never finished on the podium in consecutive races.

05:25And what a time for Alex Albon to inherit third place in a race for his second podium in Formula One.

05:30What does this, though, mean for the Constructors' Championship?

05:33And Sergio Perez, yeah, switch it off.

05:37And someone get a fire extinguisher near that car.

05:41It's been a very long race.

05:44Lewis Hamilton has come through to win the Bahrain Grand Prix once more.

05:50And Red Bull, with second and third, get both drivers on the podium.

05:55Verstappen and Albon, for the first time Red Bull with two cars on the podium since Japan 2017.

06:05In a race where, well, we had early drama, we had late drama.

06:09Despite Lewis Hamilton saying that it was a difficult race from the outside,

06:14for him, it looked like no drama. Hamilton wins the Bahrain Grand Prix.

06:18And grow and pray.
