Ghaziabad — A shocking incident of domestic violence came to light from Govindpuram in the Kavinagar area of Ghaziabad, where a software engineer allegedly assaulted her mother-in-law and threatened her father-in-law with a knife. The incident, which occurred on July 1, was captured on CCTV and surfaced online on July 6, prompting police to register an FIR.
According to the victim’s husband, Satyapal Singh, his daughter-in-law Akanksha first slapped his wife Sudesh during a quarrel, then dragged her, kicked her repeatedly, and even threw her against a wall while abusing her throughout. CCTV footage also shows Akanksha’s mother joining her in the assault.
Satyapal Singh, a retired teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya, said that after beating his wife, Akanksha chased him with a knife, forcing him to lock himself in a room to save his life. He alleged that Akanksha, whose father is a Delhi Police sub-inspector, often threatens them citing his position.
Satyapal added that his son, Antariksh, who is also a software engineer in Gurugram, avoids coming home due to constant family disputes. Akanksha, too, works from home after previously working in Chandigarh.
Police officials confirmed that an FIR has been filed against Akanksha and her mother on charges of assault. ACP Kavinagar Bhaskar Verma said SHO Yogendra Malik is investigating the matter and further action will be taken based on evidence.
