Resident relieved gaming entertainment facility has been refused

A group of Jerrabomberra residents are relieved plans for a new club have been halted. The NSW planning department last week refused the development application for a new entertainment facility just over the act border.

00:12It was enormous. The actual aspect of the development was overlooking, I mean the windows

00:18faced and looked basically onto our house.

00:23The NSW Government Planning Panel refused Vikings Group's proposal last week. It cited

00:29concerns around noise management and the negative effects of building a 3 metre high sound wall.

00:35I mean we already get sound noises coming from the service station and McDonalds and everything,

00:41which you can tolerate up to a certain point. This was going to be ongoing until 3 o'clock in the morning.

00:47The refusal came a week after the Queenbeyan-Pallaring Regional Council recommended against the plan.

00:53The Terrabamba Residents Association is not necessarily opposed to a club development within our community.

00:59What we would like to see is a value proposition presented to our community.

01:07The Vikings Group already owns four clubs in the ACT and in a statement the Chief Executive

01:12expressed disappointment over the decision to refuse a fifth, saying there had been more than 160 submissions in support.

01:19But the club may not walk away and is exploring potential next steps.

01:23I don't think it's over. Depends on how much money gets pushed around. I mean we're grateful that we've now got two determinations,

01:31one from the Council and one from Regional Planning NSW and hopefully that gives us a little bit of peace for a little while,

01:39but I can see that this is not going to end here.
