00:00But you know what I started to pivot to in this offseason?
00:02You guys are right. It's Jalen Hurts.
00:04And the fact of the matter is, the doubt on Jalen Hurts,
00:06all he's been in the NFL was a winner.
00:08The only thing he was missing was a Super Bowl.
00:09Got to one against Patrick Mahomes the first time around,
00:12outplayed Patrick Mahomes, and they lost that game.
00:14Learned from it. The next season didn't work out so well.
00:17Got back to it, and he was really good down the stretch,
00:19which included a fantastic playoff run,
00:21and that was also an MVP in the Super Bowl.
00:23So I look at the maturation process of a young quarterback
00:25who's still in his prime and learning how to win.
00:27I think he steps up this year.
00:28We'll probably take a look at the MVP odds.
00:30He's sitting at 20-1.
00:32Normally that would be an after-throw.
00:33Oh, I'll say Quan Barco's going to carry it.
00:34So many other players, Joe Burrows out there, and Lamar Jackson.
00:37I'm telling you this year, he's probably going to have more on his plate,
00:40and rightfully so.
00:41And if he takes care of the football like he did last year,
00:44why can't he rush for 15 touchdowns but throw for 30-plus touchdowns?
00:48Being serious.
00:49Well, the reality around Jalen Hurts is he's the most underrated player
00:53in some circles in this league because there are still people
00:56who opt to make top-10 quarterback lists that don't include him.
01:00Yet there's no justification for it.
01:02People treat Saquon Barkley – I mean, I'm sorry, Jalen Hurts –
01:07like he finishes these games with 100 yards,
01:12and it's all we've ever known from Jalen Hurts.
01:14Donnie, you know this very well.
01:16Two seasons – so three seasons ago, if Jalen Hurts did not get Hurts –
01:21MVP.
01:22He's absolutely winning league MVP.
01:25He was the favorite at the time of the injury.
01:27It's the Carson Wentz situation who would have won MVP that season.
01:30The difference between Hurts and Wentz is Hurts came back,
01:35played in those playoffs, played in the Super Bowl despite losing,
01:39outplayed Mahomes in the Super Bowl, and yet that still wasn't enough
01:44for people.
01:45So then we go through this season and questions, questions, questions,
01:49and yes, they're coming even from inside the locker room of A.J. Brown,
01:53and it was the Carolina win where he only threw for 108 yards.
01:56So the response was throwing for 290 yards and three total touchdowns
02:00against Pittsburgh, and that was his last game in the regular season.
02:03He got hurt in the first quarter against Washington, and that was that.
02:07And yet that still wasn't enough for people.
02:08So then we go through the playoffs, and in game number one,
02:11it's only 131 yards, but they throw two touchdowns,
02:13and they absolutely embarrass Jordan Love, and yet Jordan Love
02:16is somehow still better than him in these games.
02:19And there's only 128 against the Rams, but, oh, he was outplayed by Stafford
02:23despite the fact that Stafford kept turning the football over in that game.
02:26Okay, well, you know what?
02:27You guys have definitely got him dead to rights.
02:29Now, who's left for him?
02:30Jaden Daniels.
02:31Yeah.
02:31Well, he's obviously going to get outplayed by Jaden Daniels.
02:34Oh, no, he's significantly not close.
02:37This outplays Jaden Daniels in that football game.
02:398.8 yards per attempt, completed over 70% of his passes, threw for 246,
02:44a score, and ripped off three rushing touchdowns because apparently some clowns
02:49who cover this league still do not know that those are also touchdowns
02:52that are being accounted for.
02:54Well, don't worry about it because Hurts is going to obviously fall flat
02:57in the biggest stage of them all.
02:58Oh, no.
02:59Two for two and outplaying Pat Mahomes in the Super Bowls.
03:01God's gift to the quarterback position.
03:03So what are we doing here?
03:04I just don't understand this whole thing.
03:07And I know that I'm now raising my voice to two guys who both understand
03:10the value of Jalen Hurts, but it's going to continue to bother me
03:13because Jalen Hurts is very obviously one of the five best quarterbacks
03:17in the National Football League on a team that's booked as a Super Bowl favorite.
03:21And yet, Donnie, when we go through an MVP award,
03:24I have to see him price the same number as Justin Herbert.
03:27Yeah.
03:27That's a joke.
03:28Yeah.
03:29No, you're right about that, too, because Justin Herbert's supposed to be,
03:31hey, you know what, Jim Harbaugh, let's run the football here,
03:33the keys to the castle, and Jalen Hurts' hand.
03:35But he just doesn't get those accolades.
03:37It's almost like you would date ourselves, Joe, right?
03:39Joe Montana.
03:40Did anybody ever say Joe Montana?
03:41Well, he had Jerry Rice, John Taylor.
03:43He had the best offensive play call in history,
03:44an unbelievable, unsalary-capped offensive line,
03:47and some of the best running backs.
03:48We never do that.
03:48No.
03:49But yet, somehow, when you look at today's athletes, it's like,
03:51well, how much help does Jalen Hurts need?
03:53I don't know.
03:53Did he need that much help being the MVP in the Super Bowl?
03:56Like, that's what I get to now,
03:57where it's almost like the underrated somehow turned into the overrated,
04:00but we never got to write the guy, if that makes sense.
04:02Okay.
