00:00Thunderstorms and torrential rain triggered deadly flash floods along the Guadalupe River
00:06in south-central Texas on Friday, particularly in the Kerrville area,
00:11killing at least 24 people and leaving over 20 girls from a summer camp missing.
00:17Emergency crews continue search-and-rescue efforts as heavy rains caused the river to
00:23overflow rapidly, sweeping through homes and campsites in the area.
00:27The extreme flooding struck before dawn with little or no warning,
00:32leaving authorities no time to issue evacuation orders.
00:35I want to tell you all that we will be working around the clock 24-7 until every person is found.
00:42We're not going to be giving any names out at this time. We're still notifying next to Ken.
00:46Also, I've been notified one fatality has been found in Kendall County.
00:51I cannot say it's related to this incident at this time,
00:55but we'll let you all know when we find out more information.
00:58We want to make sure we get information to families as quickly as we possibly can.
01:03But most importantly, we will stop at nothing to ensure that every asset and person and plane and
01:14whatever is needed is going to be involved in the process of rescuing every last person
01:20and ensure everybody involved in this is going to be fully accounted for.
01:27The Guadalupe River rose rapidly from 7.5 feet to nearly 30 feet overnight
01:31and is expected to crest at 34 feet in Spring Branch.
01:35As the river surged, cars, campers, and mobile homes were swept away in the floodwaters.
