MODI PLANTS TREE IN PARLIAMENT

Modi launched a campaign called Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam which encourages individuals to plant a tree in the honour of their mother.

00:07In this vein, since the passing of his mother in December of 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi

00:13launched a campaign called Ekpeed Maa Ke Naam, which encourages individuals to plant a tree

00:20in the honor of their mother. As a form of environmental consciousness, Modi plants a

00:27sapling in every country he visits. At the end of his visit to TNT, he planted a neem sapling

00:33at the Parliament building. Minister in the Ministry of the Prime Minister, Barry Padarath,

00:38tells TV6 in consultation with the Indian High Commission, the Speaker of the House and the

00:44Senate President, it was accepted the tree be planted on the Parliament's compound. He says,

00:51according to Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissasa, it is the most fitting as it is our country's

00:58seat of democracy and India is viewed as the largest democracy of the world. The neem is native to the

01:04Indian subcontinent. It's used in Ayurveda, a traditional form of medicine for skin conditions,

01:11diabetes, wound care and also in hair care. Modi also distributed plants to school children,

01:18one from the north, one from the south, east, west and of course from Tobago.
