00:00Australia and India are building a much deeper partnership and at the core of that is the fact
00:04that we are now strategic partners. I want to work to make sure that there is a easier supply
00:10chain of Australian critical minerals and especially lithium into India. Australia and
00:16India are building a much deeper partnership and at the core of that is the fact that we are now
00:21strategic partners. We're separated only by an ocean and so it makes sense that when we're
00:27talking about our defence and security engagement we talk about the marine domain and that's why
00:33this effort to understand better surveillance of the oceans is a key area for Australia and
00:40India to work on. I'm very confident this will be one of many new interventions that we're making
00:46in the defence and security area in the years going forward.
00:49Well let me talk about the Australian part of that because Australia is a very large producer
01:05of critical minerals. We are in fact we produce more than 50 percent of the world's lithium and
01:11when I go around your country and I see many firms with great plans to build electric vehicles and to
01:18build batteries I want to work to make sure that there is a easier supply chain of Australian critical
01:25minerals and especially lithium into India. So this is what this is one aspect of what the Quad is
01:32trying to do to make sure that high quality supplies of important battery minerals are available
01:37to countries like India which have a very bright future in the green energy supply chain.
