Doncaster Free Press Daily Bulletin with Stephanie Bateman - Friday July 4, 2025
Transcript
00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Friday, July the 4th, bringing you some of our headlines today.
00:06First of all, some sad news from the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
00:10Europe's oldest eastern black rhino peacefully passed away at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park this week.
00:18Jasper was 33, had to be put down after coming to old age.
00:23That's really, really sad.
00:26I know he was very popular at the wildlife park.
00:28People always went to see him.
00:30So all the details about Jasper and his life will be on the website in the next half an hour for it to have a read about.
00:37Then one thing I put out late yesterday, there was some helicopter activity over Burkhoats yesterday.
00:46Quite a lot of helicopter activity.
00:49We think this could be related to an incident later where a man had a standoff on a house roof with lots of emergency services on standby.
01:02We're led to believe that the man eventually fell off the roof and was taken to hospital, but we're still trying to clarify the situation with the emergency services.
01:09So when we get an update on that, I'll let you know.
01:13And then finally one for motorists, there's going to be another abnormal load travelling onto the M1 later today.
01:21The route is on the website now for you to read.
01:24There are going to be some road closures while that takes place.
01:26So take a look at those diversions and avoid if you can.
01:31It's not going to take too long.
01:33They'll only be closed for a short amount of time, but still, if you're in a hurry, you might want to take a look at that.
01:39So for those stories and for anything else, you just need to visit www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk.
01:45Also Facebook and X.
01:47Have a great Friday and a lovely weekend.
01:49And I'll see you next time.
