At her press briefing, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

00:01Yes, sir.
00:02WHO, the World Health Organization, said that 112 Palestinian children, many of them
00:08are newborn and so on, are sent to whatever remains of the hospital because of malnutrition.
00:15It's because the aid is just not getting through.
00:18And my question to you is that, is that basically a statement or evidence that the aid that
00:25has been going in is not enough and is not sufficient, that maybe it ought – the aid ought to be
00:33the responsibility of those who have had a great deal of experience in doing this, consistent
00:38with whatever – with all the international organizations that have stated to that effect.
00:43MS.
00:44Well, two parts I'll answer to that.
00:45First of all, there's one entity that has gotten food and aid into the Gaza Strip, and
00:49that's the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
00:52We know this.
00:53This has been a fact of the matter.
00:55And that's – I think we're now up to 56 million meals distributed.
00:59So we – it's still within a war zone.
01:02It's – you know, we had a ceasefire that Hamas broke.
01:05I would say on the other issue, when it comes to the horribleness of what happens in a war
01:09zone, in this case in Gaza, it is occurring because Hamas refuses – it broke a ceasefire.
01:15On October 7th, it broke another ceasefire that was attained for the Gaza Strip.
01:19It is now refusing, at least up to this point prior to the change in the Middle East, to
01:24continue to agree to another ceasefire.
01:27They maintain their firearms.
01:29They are maintaining hostages, people they've kidnapped.
01:32And so, yes, it is horrible.
01:35And it's something that we are working to stop.
01:38But I would say regarding aid – you know, we'll just make an admission here.
01:43It will never be enough.
01:46There will never be enough aid going into a war zone.
01:50There will – no matter how many depots the GHF, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, sets
01:55up, it will not be enough.
01:57Because the only way you have a normal life with enough aid and enough food and being able
02:03to live your normal life is in an area that is not at war or being held hostage by a terrorist
02:08group.
02:09So to attempt to normalize the environment that is under this horrible cloud of terroristic
02:20monsterism, of the slaughter of innocent people, the using of people as human shields, the using
02:26of hospitals as a cover for your operations, the using of schools as a cover for your operations,
02:33it is obscene.
02:35It is inhuman.
02:37So it will – what we do in the midst of that environment will never be enough.
02:42And it is a key, though, to unlocking a door, to get to a point where you can have a ceasefire,
02:49assisting those who are held hostage by the terrorists, and being able to get to a point
02:54where you actually have a ceasefire, removing those who do not abide by the ceasefire, and
03:00then begin to build a genuinely different future for the people in that area.
03:06What a concept.
03:07So we do our best.
03:10We know it will never be enough because the situation is obscene and unusual and unnatural.
03:17But we will do it until we also then move to change that situation for the better.
03:21What?
03:22Yeah, we will.
