Japan will not compromise its agricultural sector in tariff talks with the U.S., says Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, responding to U.S. President Donald Trump's complaints about Japan not buying American rice and his threat to raise tariffs on Japanese exports.

00:28With the July 9th U.S. tariff deadline nearing,
00:31Japan has yet to secure a trade deal after nearly three months of talks.
00:36Tokyo has been pushing the U.S. to drop a 25% tariff on Japanese cars
00:40and a 24% reciprocal tariff on other Japanese imports.
