Microsoft Urges Employees to Embrace In-House AI — Performance Reviews May Reflect Usage

Microsoft is urging managers to factor AI tool usage into employee evaluations,  according to Benzinga. Julia Liuson, who leads the division overseeing GitHub Copilot, told staff in an internal email that AI is now “core to every role and every level.” Some teams are considering formal performance metrics tied to internal AI tools for the next fiscal year. Microsoft’s initiative aims to boost internal adoption of its Copilot AI tools and ensure developers fully understand the products. The move comes amid rising competition in the AI coding market, with Cursor surpassing GitHub Copilot in a key segment and Microsoft renegotiating its partnership with OpenAI.
