00:15:35now what shape is that
00:15:44square square or rectangle because it has four sides right okay
00:15:52now it's round that's a round shape okay which pile is that going in the round pile
00:16:05which one triangle triangle i mean i mean rectangle rectangle right no difference between a square and
00:16:17a rectangle because it's small and that's big no a square would have to have all four sides
00:16:25the same length yeah but but a rectangle just has to have four sides okay that's a rectangle

00:17:34have three corners and actually this one's left open for a reason so it could come out no so you
00:17:41can make a musical sound out of it this is what this is called a triangle it's a musical instrument
00:17:46grab um a little one yeah and hit it you're a musician that fast uh i'll bet down the triangle pile
00:18:01this young man is a tricky one now a rectangle are you sure yeah you're sure it's a rectangle
00:18:10it's a rectangle okay what shape is that triangle so is it a triangle or a rectangle
00:18:22a rectangle when it's closed that was very smart okay that one down there now every time you get
00:18:30something together like that and spread it all out you have to clean it up right so let's get together
00:18:35put them all back in the box everything goes back in that's a good idea in fact whenever you're

00:32:43The letter E is also the first letter of the word eagle.
00:32:48That wasn't very nice.
00:32:51And it's the first letter of the word everybody.
00:32:56And the word empty.
00:32:59And the word egg.
00:33:15Um.
00:33:18Um.
00:33:19Hi, Gordon.
00:33:21What you doing?
00:33:23Correcting papers.
00:33:25Yeah.
00:33:26Hey, I thought you wanted to sleep.
00:33:33Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do, I do.
00:33:34I just wanted to make sure, um, you're not gonna, uh, bother me, you know.
00:33:39You're not gonna bother me.
00:33:40No, I'm not gonna bother you.
00:33:42No.
00:33:42Uh, you, you, uh, need any help with, uh, correcting the papers?
00:33:54Huh?
00:33:54No, thanks.
00:33:55Yeah.
00:33:59Hey, um, Bob's not gonna come around here, uh, bothering me, is he?
00:34:04No, Bob's not gonna come around, Bob.
00:34:05Hey, Oscar.
00:34:15Um, do you have enough sleep?
00:34:17Yeah, yeah.
00:34:18Okay.
00:34:19Um, I got an idea.
00:34:23Let's forget all this do not disturb stuff, okay?
00:34:26Yeah.
00:34:27Now, let's get back to normal.
00:34:28Yeah.
00:34:29All right, you want to be your regular old mean grouchy self, all right?
00:34:33Right, right.
00:34:34Hey, you know something, Gordon?
00:34:35Just you and me, okay?
00:34:35You're not half bad.
00:34:38Come on.
00:34:51What?
00:34:53What do you want?
00:34:53Hi, Oscar.
00:34:54You come around banging on my trash lid, letting all this fresh air and sunshine in?
00:35:00How's our body supposed to get any rest?
00:35:02Anyhow, boy, did I tell you the way people are around here?
00:35:07Now, that's more like Oscar.
00:35:10Good, disagreeable, nasty, mean, irritable Oscar.
00:35:14Things are back to normal now.
00:35:15We can make a lot of noise.

00:38:35Hey, did you recognize him? That was James Earl Jones. He's a very famous actor and he talks way down here like that, right? And he spells his last name J O N E N
00:38:52I'm a seal. Seel begins with a letter S, can you say S? Try it! S!
00:39:11Oh, very good. Now I want you to listen to a little story. There are a lot of words in it that begin with a letter S. Listen for them.
00:39:25Six silly sailors came skating down our street. They passed a smiling snowman wearing sneakers on his feet. Then they spied a schoolyard. Something took turns on the slide. And all played on the seesaw. Three sailors on each side.
00:39:53Hey, great. Isn't S a swinging letter though? Oh, you bet it is. Well, see you later. I'm going to go have a sandwich.
00:40:09Another nifty S word?
00:40:11Another S word is scale, Ronald. Now look, if you put, yeah, you do it. Put some beans on this side of the scale.
00:40:23Okay. Now, a few beans. Give me a few. All right. A few coffee beans on that side of the scale. Which side is the heavier?
00:40:36That's the one. Why?
00:40:37Because he has more beans and now has less beans.
00:40:40That's absolutely right. Now, let's try to balance the scale by putting the same amount. Are you smart? You know all the little things about it. Now watch. We need some more over here. What's it doing? Still need a few more.
00:40:59That should be about the same now. Let's see. Let's see if you add more. No, no. Hey, Gordon.
00:41:04Hey, that sounds like Bob. Let's see what he wants. Let's see what Bob's got. What is that? Come here, Gordon. Yeah. A squirrel. It's a little, little baby gray squirrel. Yeah. He's only about three, uh, three weeks old. He's almost finished. No, he's, he's got a lot to go. A baby gray squirrel. Yeah. I bet he can lose it.
00:41:32I bet someone said he's brown. Huh? I bet someone said he's brown. Brown? He's brown under here. Well, he's got brown. But they call it a gray squirrel because most of it's gray. He's cute. He drinks just like a little baby. I bet he can do the gray squirrel up the arm trick. You ever see that one? No. Here. Come here. Let me show you. I hate to interrupt his meal. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Watch out. Watch out. Come here. Come here. Watch out. Come here. Watch out. Watch out. Come here. Watch it. Watch it. The old gray squirrel up the arm trick. Up the arm trick. That he used to do very well. Come here. Come here. Come here.
00:42:02Come here. You see that? And then the jump to the, no, he won't do the jump. He won't jump. But that's the gray squirrel up the arm trick. Huh? Yeah. Now he's doing the old eat the squirt. Oh, now. The face trick. Come on. Come on down. Where is he? He's cluttered. Oh, you've got him. He's back there now. He's back there? Ugh. How about the old gray squirrel down the back trick? You know that one?
00:42:32There's another nut. There's another one. What's he getting for? Hmm? What's he getting for? You've got to just stay right there. He's...
00:42:37Well, it's... What's he getting for? I don't know how... Well, I guess I can do this for a while.
00:42:41That's all right with the gray squirrel. It's all right with me. Maybe I can pick you off. Okay. He's...
00:42:44Got it? Yeah. Ugh. Would he eat an apple? He loves that up the arm trick. Would he eat an apple? Yeah. He loves apples too. Sure.
00:42:53Yeah. Do you know they can climb when they get bigger? They can, uh... There he is. Now he's eating enough. See how he holds it with his hands? Mm-hmm.
00:43:04Pause. And he eats fast. Yeah. He's another gnawler. You have to be careful when they get big, though, that you don't fool with them too much because they can bite you, some of them, if they're... When they get old. But this is a little baby. Yes.
00:43:18He doesn't learn his table manners too well. No. He's kind of dropping things off.
00:43:23The old drop-the-nut trick.
00:43:25Hey, he's always drop their food. Watch it. And for a little dessert. Mm-hmm. He's just a baby.
00:43:28Give him some apple for dessert. See if he likes that.
00:43:32Hi, Susan. Hi. Susan.
00:43:34He's so cute. Isn't that cute?
00:43:36What do you have there? Uh, sidewalk surfboard.
00:43:39Oh! That was nice. That was nice.
00:43:43Pretty good. No, it's my ironing board. I threw that other one out. It was so ratty.
00:43:47Really? Yeah.
00:43:48Oh, yeah. Can I help you carry it in the house?
00:43:50No, honey. It's no problem.
00:43:51Hey, Jim!
00:43:54Hello, buddy.
00:43:55Guess what I got.
00:43:56What do you have?
00:43:57I got another ironing board. I think this one is better than the old one.
00:44:01Good boy. That's wonderful. Bring it in here.
00:44:07Well, bring it in.
00:44:08Well, Jim, we're in trouble. It's too big to get through the door. I tried to get it through the door. And this end hit that side of the door. And this end hit that side of the door. What are we gonna do? How are we gonna get it into the room?
00:44:23You just give it to me. You can't do anything right. I bet you can do it, Jim. Of course I can do it. Come on, Jim.
00:44:28You just walk in the room with the ironing board. You're right. It's too big. What are we gonna do, Jim? Wait a minute. I got it. You got it. The ironing board is too big to get through the door, right? That's right.
00:44:49So what we'll do, we'll cut the ironing board in half. And then we'll just bring the two halves through the door.
00:44:58That's good. That'll do it.
00:44:59Okay. Get me a saw.
00:45:03Okay. Now you hold the board.
00:45:05Okay. I'll hold the board, Jim.
00:45:07Okay.
00:45:08And you do the sawing, okay?
00:45:09Okay.
00:45:10Watch out for your fingers, buddy.
00:45:11Watch out for fingers when sawing is done.
00:45:14Yeah.
00:45:15Wow.
00:45:16You can really saw, Jim.
00:45:18Two halves.
00:45:21Down for your fingers.
00:45:27And we're ready to go.
00:45:28You did it, Jim.
00:45:29It's all right, then.
00:45:30Okay.
00:45:31Okay.
00:45:32Now you'll see how easy it is.
00:45:33Come on, Jim.
00:45:34You ready?
00:45:35Okay.
00:45:36Watch this.
00:45:43Hey, Jim.
00:45:44Now let's stick this thing out now.
00:45:46The ironing board was too big, and we made it smaller, but it wasn't small enough.
00:45:55So let's make the doorway bigger.
00:45:56Okay?
00:45:57Okay.
00:45:58Okay.
00:45:59Oh!
00:46:07Hey.
00:46:09Okay, Jim.
00:46:10Come on.
00:46:11I think we got it now.
00:46:12Come on.
00:46:13Step up.
00:46:14Try it.
00:46:15Well, I don't know.
00:46:16Yeah.
00:46:17Come on, Jim.
00:46:18It's gonna work, Jim.
00:46:19Sure it will.
00:46:20For once in your life, you had a good idea.
00:46:21Thank you, Jim.
00:46:22Thanks so much.
00:46:23Now we'll just bring it right into the room.
00:46:24Yeah.
00:46:25You take the heavy end.
00:46:26Yeah.
00:46:27I'll take the light end.
00:46:28Huh?
00:46:29And we'll just walk right into the room.
00:46:30Buddy and Jimmy together.
00:46:31Right.
00:46:32Walk right through the room.
00:46:33Right.
00:46:34You ready?
00:46:35Let's go.
00:46:36That wasn't such a good idea after all.
00:46:46Yeah.
00:46:47I don't know, Jim.
00:46:48We...
00:46:49The honey growl was too big.
00:46:51And we made it smaller.
00:46:53And it was still too big.
00:46:55So then, I took the big hammer...
00:46:58And I made the...
00:46:59The door...
00:47:03The doorway...
00:47:04Yeah, Jim.
00:47:07Hey, Jim.
00:47:08Come here.
00:47:09What is it?
00:47:10I think we got it this time.
00:47:11What do you got?
00:47:12Stand in the middle.
00:47:13See?
00:47:14Yeah.
00:47:15Stand in the middle.
00:47:16Hold on.
00:47:17Nobody over here.
00:47:18No Jimmy over here.
00:47:19And it's gonna work, Jim.
00:47:20You think this will work?
00:47:21What do you think?
00:47:22I don't know.
00:47:23Okay.
00:47:24Here we go, Jim.
00:47:25Okay.
00:47:26Oh.
00:47:27Hang on, Jim.
00:47:28Be careful.
00:47:29Here we go, Jim.
00:47:30It's gonna work.
00:47:31We gonna make it?
00:47:32It's gonna...
00:47:33Oh.
00:47:34Ha-ha.
00:47:35I told you I'd get it into the room.
00:47:37You did it, Jim.
00:47:38Of course I did it.
00:47:39But...
00:47:40I...
00:47:45You messed up the door, Jim.
00:47:46Oh, don't worry about the door.
00:47:48Now, we're gonna need those holes when we take our O-lining board out.

00:49:22This weird story of Wanda the Witch is brought to you courtesy of the letter W.
00:49:30Wanda the Witch lived somewhere west of Washington.
00:49:35Around her waist, instead of a belt, she wore a worm.
00:49:40Wanda had a pet weasel.
00:49:43I'm a weasel!
00:49:45And on her head, a wiry wig.
00:49:48On Wednesday, in the middle of winter, Wanda walked to the well to get water to wash her wig.
00:49:55But the wheel on the well was worn, and Wanda grew weary.
00:50:02So she waved her wand, and her wash tub filled with warm water.
00:50:08But just as Wanda was about to drop her wig into the warm water, a wild wind whipped the wig from her hand and blew it away forever!
00:50:22Witch taught Wanda this lesson.
00:50:24Witches who wash their wigs on windy winter Wednesdays are wacky!
00:50:29This witch story was brought to you courtesy of the letter W.
00:50:37Jay, this is a story of Gwendolyn the Miracle Hand.
00:50:41Out in the country, far from town, there lived a man named Farmer Brown.
00:50:54Between the fences he had built, his pastures made a patchwork quilt.
00:51:00From dawn to dusk with plow and hoe, he worked his land to make things grow.
00:51:08At night, he brought his pigs and sheep and hens inside his barn to sleep,
00:51:14with Jack the horse who pulled the plow and Bessie his contented cow.
00:51:20Now Farmer Brown was kind and good, and did the things a farmer should.
00:51:26He kept them warm from winter's chill, and cared for them when they were ill.
00:51:34Each month, a misdemeanee went to Farmer Brown's to get the rent.
00:51:42One month, there came a sad, sad day, when Farmer Brown just couldn't pay.
00:51:50We have to help, said Bess the cow.
00:51:55Of course we do, said Jack, but how?
00:51:58Cluck, cluck, said Gwendolyn.
00:52:01You'll see. Just leave the whole thing up to me.
00:52:05The rooster crowed when night was done.
00:52:10Above the hilltop crept the sun.
00:52:12The farmer came, he had a pail, it bore a sign, fresh eggs for sale.
00:52:20He took each egg and put it in until he came to Gwendolyn.
00:52:26And then he got a huge surprise.
00:52:30He looked, he stared, he blinked his eyes.
00:52:33Oh no, he cried. This can't be true.
00:52:38The egg she laid was green and blue.
00:52:42He ran back home and called the vet.
00:52:45Please come, he said. My hand's upset.
00:52:49The vet just stared.
00:52:52I've never seen a chicken egg that's blue and green.
00:52:59He called his friend Professor C, the famous egg authority, who looked and said,
00:53:07Upon my word, a most extraordinary bird.
00:53:14He sent it to a widely known museum where the egg was shown between some ancient meteors
00:53:20and prehistoric dinosaurs, beneath a do not handle card, watched over by a full-time guard.
00:53:32The story spread when people heard they flocked to see the famous bird.
00:53:39Soon Gwendolyn laid many more, each better than the one before.
00:53:44They came in beautiful designs with many different colored lines,
00:53:49and floral prints with curly cues in yellows, purples, reds and blues.
00:53:55So Farmer Brown set up a shop.
00:53:59And after tending to his crop, he stood upon a box and cried,
00:54:03Just step up, folks, and come inside.
00:54:07You can get your colored eggs right here.
00:54:10Come buy one as a souvenir.
00:54:13No two alike. They're custom-laid.
00:54:16And every single one is made by Gwendolyn,
00:54:20who soon will be the best-known hen in history.
00:54:24And as he made this little speech, he sold them for a dollar each.
00:54:31The money soon was pouring in, and all because of Gwendolyn.
00:54:37The farmer saved his cash.
00:54:39And then when Mr. Meany came again, he said to him,
00:54:44I've had a start, and I can pay the rent in part.
00:54:49Old Mr. Meany's voice was gruff. He answered him,
00:54:53That's not enough.
00:54:55But if you let me have that hen, I'll never bother you again.
00:55:00Poor Farmer Brown cried, No, no, no.
00:55:04He didn't want to let her go.
00:55:07My mind's made up, old Meany said.
00:55:10I take the hen or farm instead.
00:55:13So Gwendolyn was snatched away by Mr. Meany that same day.
00:55:19At home, he settled down to wait and watched the eggs accumulate.
00:55:23The hours passed.
00:55:25Three-thirty.
00:55:27Four.
00:55:29I can't keep up this watch anymore.
00:55:32He gave himself a little shake and rubbed his eyes to stay awake.
00:55:35And then he heard a funny sound.
00:55:38And when he turned to look around, he clapped his hands and cried,
00:55:41It's late.
00:55:43I have an egg.
00:55:44My fortune's made.
00:55:47He picked her up to see his prize.
00:55:50He looked.
00:55:51He stared.
00:55:52He blinked his eyes.
00:55:54The egg was very small and white.
00:55:58For this, I've waited half the night.
00:56:02He cried, I've had enough, no more.
00:56:04And he threw the hen right out the door.
00:56:08Then Gwendolyn went through the town and found the home of Farmer Brown,
00:56:14flew to her roost without a peep,
00:56:18and closed her eyes and went to sleep.
00:56:23From that time on, no more was heard of Farmer Brown's amazing bird.
00:56:32Now, most folks say that Farmer's hen is laying plain white eggs again.
00:56:44But now and then, when rent time nears,
00:56:49a multicolored egg appears.
00:56:53Egg.

00:58:17That's a tame squirrel.
00:58:18That's a very special squirrel.
00:58:20The squirrels you usually see out in the streets and in the parks are not tame and they might bite.
00:58:26So don't feed them, okay?
00:58:27That's such a special squirrel that he's gonna say goodbye all by himself.
