00:00This morning, the Supreme Court has delivered a
00:02monumental victory for the Constitution, the
00:06separation of powers, and the rule of law.
00:09In striking down the excessive use of
00:11nationwide injunctions to interfere with the
00:14normal functioning of the executive branch, the
00:17Supreme Court has stopped the presidency itself.
00:20That's what they've done.
00:22And really, it's been an amazing period of time,
00:28this last hour.
00:29There are people elated all over the country.
00:31I've seen such happiness and spirit.
00:35Sometimes you don't see that, but this case is
00:37very important.
00:38I was elected on a historic mandate, but in recent
00:41months, we've seen a handful of radical left judges
00:45effectively try to overrule the rightful powers of
00:48the president to stop the American people from
00:50getting the policies that they voted for in record
00:53numbers.
00:55It was a grave threat to democracy, frankly.
00:57And instead of merely ruling on the immediate cases
01:01before them, these judges have attempted to dictate
01:04the law for the entire nation.
01:07In practice, this meant that if any one of the
01:09nearly 700 federal judges disagreed with the policy
01:12of a duly elected president of the United States, he
01:17or she could block that policy from going into effect or
01:20at least delay it for many years, tie it up in the
01:23court system.
01:25This was a colossal abuse of power which never occurred
01:28in American history prior to recent decades.
01:31And we've been hit with more nationwide injunctions than
01:34were issued in the entire 20th century together.
01:38think of it more than the entire 20th century me.
01:43I'm grateful to the Supreme Court for stepping in and
01:47solving this very, very big and complex problem.
01:50And they've made it very simple.
01:52I want to thank Justice Barrett, who wrote the opinion
01:56brilliantly, as well as Chief Justice Roberts and
01:59Justices Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Thomas.
02:03Great people.
