Kids in Holes Creek are imagining their future, and that of their remote town.
00:13
I would like to have a big playground.
00:18
In the town hall, formal consultations are underway.
00:22
Holes Creek is a really good town, it's like home to people.
00:28
But the town has a youth crime problem.
00:32
Big kids like stealing cars and stuff.
00:36
Leaving community members frustrated.
00:40
Stealing someone else's car and damaging it just for fun of it, they think it's really
00:47
cool until someone's going to get hurt.
00:51
But they also have potential solutions.
00:54
To maybe put like a fake car machine so then they can feel like they're driving a car but
01:03
they don't actually have to like take it.
01:05
And decision makers are listening.
01:08
What is it that's not here?
01:09
What do they need?
01:11
If you don't ask them, how can you create the environment that allows them to grow?
01:19
Aldo has spent years listening to local kids and families.
01:23
Bye.
01:24
There's kids in Hall Street that need help and support.
01:28
A night space will soon open to offer that support.
01:33
I hope it's going to make a change in the crime and hopefully we'll have kids all happy.
01:40
But deeper changes are needed to keep the next generation in town.
01:44
It's good to create more opportunities here so that our kids can be successful in their own home.
01:51
We need jobs, not just any old jobs but jobs that have a future for our young people.
01:58
And some young leaders are planning to stay to make a difference.
02:02
I really do hope Porch Creek gets better.
02:05
Hoping and working for a better future.
