00:00The second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft is now officially in.
00:05And the San Antonio Spurs select Dylan Harper out of Rutgers.
00:10He is the highest ever selected player from Rutgers University, JY.
00:16Just the fifth overall first round selection from this Scarlet Knights basketball program.
00:21And for San Antonio, drafting early here on the nights of the NBA Draft in recent memory
00:27have been pretty fun.
00:28First overall in 2023, that generational talent, Victor Wimbanyama, wins NBA Rookie of the Year.
00:36Last summer in the top five, Steph Castle out of UConn wins NBA Rookie of the Year.
00:42Might we sense a trend here for this Spurs organization in Dylan Harper?
00:46All about how they use him, but hey, Jersey is in the building.
00:50Rod Harper's son, completely different than his dad or his older brother and his style of play.
00:56Silky smooth guard, lefty, can kind of do a lot of things really good defensively.
01:01I mean, Steve Peichel can't teach offense, but he can at least teach defense.
01:04So this guy can play defense at a high level.
01:07The interesting thing, Ben, is going to be, how do they use Dylan Harper?
01:12What's Stephon Castle?
01:13What's De'Aaron Fox?
01:14We haven't even talked about Devin Vassell.
01:17Do they go two to three?
01:19Do they go three guard combo?
01:20What happens to Calvin Johnson?
01:21Still a lot of questions you have to have on San Antonio, but how they incorporate Dylan
01:26Harper to this young core.
01:27Kev, Tom, right back to you.
01:29I ask you a hypothetical question, perhaps.
01:31Two teams from Texas, two teams hailing from the Western Conference.
01:35Mavs, Spurs, who has the higher ceiling in 2025-26?
01:40I love that question, sir.
01:42I right now would find myself siding with San Antonio, where at least the log jam is in the
01:49backcourt, which might be a little bit easier to figure out, instead of the potential spacing
01:53issues that might be created by Anthony Davis, refusing to play the five, which would then
01:59put Flagg down to the three.
02:01To the three, because the combination of what they have with lively P.J.
02:05Washington, what are we going to do?
02:06Gafford, A.D.
02:07Coop.
02:08You might go all seven-footers, baby.
02:09Just a massive lineup overall, but the Spurs, I think, with the ceiling that they have,
02:13if Wemby can take a massive leap, just got to stay out there.
02:17Just stay out there.
02:18The team has no ceiling.
02:20Yeah.
02:20I also do, quickly, I'll just say, Ben, wonder if Darren Fox 100% will be on this team by
02:24the start of next season.
